Britain relinquished its authority over most of its overseas territories some years ago, voluntarily in almost every case, so that they could have a hand at the democracy and civilization which the Empire had "prepared" them for for so many years. Whether or not those territories used their new-found independence wisely is for the student of history to decide. But anyway: You may find that there are only very few alliances in CN who actually represent something that exists (or rather still exists) in real life.
