Euphaia
Public Yesterday, all Ukrainian oblasts were granted the right to hold individual Oblast referendums on independence from the USSR, and today the official results of those referendums was released, with all but Donetsk Oblast, Luhansk Onlast, and Crimea, voting tor independence from the USSR and once again joining together as an independent, sovereign Ukranianian nation. Euphaia
Public The Ukrainian Provisional Government was appointed this morning, and has announced that while formal alliance negotiations will most likely be left until after the more formal government has been put into place, that Ukraine is looking forward to strong relations with it's neighbors. On another note, the Constituional Committee has agreed by a 2/3 vote to largely reinstate it's 1996 Constitution as the law of the land. The Committee is still in the process of debating whether Ukraine should stay a federal republic, or switch to a parliament. This landmark decision means that Ukraine should have a formal Constitution back in place very soon and elections will likely be held within a few months. Euphaia
Internal This past year in Ukraine has been pretty uneventful. It has mostly been filled with finishing up all the routine busy-work that accompanies the start of any new government. Military modernization was one of Ukraine's top priorities, and work along those lines had come along very nicely this year. A lot of new military equipment had been ordered and delivered, and many of Ukraine's military and air bases have been updated and more modernized. Another top priority for Ukraine the past year was to bring the nation's ports and railways back up to maximum efficiency. This, also, for the very most part, was able to be accomplished over the past 12 months, and because of it, trade with other nations had been able to be increased. With these two priorities having been met, the Ukrainian government feels confident that it is ready to meet whatever needs may arise in the coming year.
