It is our hopes and dreams that we shall be permitted to continue this democratic journey in conjunction with fellow Europeans. We do this with our children's futures in our minds, and this is our motivation for risking our lives for a better future. We want prosperity! We want peace! We want freedom!" - Portuguese People With hundreds of thousands gathering in the streets to peacefully demand independence all throughout the country, the legislature has convened a constitutional convention, drafted a new constitution, and ratified it. Portugal is now a free and democratic state. Public elections are currently being held and an official government will be announced shortly.
