A CONFEDERACY HAS BEEN MADE

'My God We have done it' Says Congressman Adams of Dallas

grammy_capitol_015.jpg

After days, weeks, and months of protest, negotiation, conflict, and diplomacy the Confederation of MidAmerica has been formed as a "temporary" government for all the nation-states within the Confederacy. The Congress will handle international relations and disputes and will organize the defense of all nations within the Confederacy.

Congressman Samuel Adams of Dallas has created the biggest buzz when he walked out of the Texas Capital building and told a reporter, "My God we have done it, we have a nation, we have a nation." Thousands of people attended the official agreements between leaders and members of congress that made the Confederacy an actual, existing sovereignty.

This is a special edition of the evening post, keep reading for more updates on MidAmerica's independence.

Classified Matters of The Confederation

Each member nation within the Confederation would be allowed to to keep its own arsenal of men however twenty-percent of the forces would have to be turned over to the Confederation to be used as a standing military to keep order among the member nations and keep international tensions at ease. Major military facilities would be occupied by the new army all across Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. There was a catch to the troops that could be used for defense in a member-nation's home territory - they could be called into duty for the Confederation by order of the Congress if it was needed. This would, however, be saved for a grave emergency because it could cause an uproar around the the entire confederation and possibly even threaten to end it.

REGIONAL CAPITOLS MADE

Member Nations Asked to 'Work Together' by President of The Congress

texas-state-capitol-at-dusk.jpg

Confederate Capitol in Austin

Though the President of the Confederate Congress, Michael Collins, holds very little executive power, his word does have weight. The Congressional leader lead the movement to pass a resolution which would accept the formation of regional capitols within Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Oklahoma's would be in Oklahoma City, Louisiana's in Baton Rouge, and Texas's regional capitol would be in Dallas. These regional capitols would not be in control of any military authority but would be allowed to create government for interests within their region. Critics say this is adding another step of complication to the divide in what government has what powers however Collins says that, "These governments will simply be in place to help unite the regions together so that they can work out problems. They will have legislative assemblies and representatives from each member nation just like here in Austin. These regional governments will be able to make regional regulations that are, of course, within reason."

The government seemed almost totally unstructured and held together by tape before however ironically, with this new addition, some light has been shed on what countless numbers of representatives have been working on. The Confederate Congress will oversee all matters of international diplomacy and can make treaties and, if it is accepted, coin currency. The member nations may still coin currency and create their own laws so long as they do not conflict with The Congress. While the Confederate Congress is weak, it does hold a hand in military power and can, reportedly, nationalize any nation's army for "emergency" purposes. This assertion, however, is unlikely. If troops would be nationalized it would not be a majority because no member nation, according to Mayor Franks of San Antonio, would even consider being defenseless.

While President Collins expressed he has no desire to become an executive head of government he has taken some firm and and exciting stances to unite the member nations closer together. He stated that, "What I want is to see a united nation form out of this confederation - a united Republic where a fair election can be held for a high executive." While the member nations, with many differences in ways of governance, may take a while to unite this step of regional unison is a step closer.

CONFEDERATE ARMED FORCES KEEP ORDER

Soldiers of The Confederation March Into Houston, Dallas, Austin, El Paso, Oklahoma City, Baton Rouge and Lafayette

US_soldiers_1381520c.jpg

Cities filled with Confederate troops as Congress begins first official session in Austin

After hard work and an ample amount of diplomacy, thousands of armed soldiers marched through major cities throughout MidAmerica including the capitol of Austin, the regional capitol newly made in Oklahoma City and the Louisiana regional capitol in Baton Rouge. Government officials from each nation in the confederacy met with military leaders to briefly discuss means of contact and plans for future defense. The Congress released an official statement which read that it would be actively supporting the unity of the confederacy and would like to demonstrate some of its military might.

While tanks rolled down main streets and soldiers shook hands, crowds formed to see the new soldiers of their new military of their new, somewhat united nation pledge their protection to every square inch of MidAmerican soil. The biggest march, through the heart of Houston, ended with a speech from Congressman MacArthur.

"I and many other members of congress want to see a friendly relationship with with the Hudson Bay Federation," said the congressman, "while there are plenty of new and exiting nations for us to conduct diplomacy with in the New World, I believe we owe it to the Federation for their swift movements in a time of danger and anarchy. If the trip is approved by congress, I myself will be coordinating a meeting with representatives of the Federation."
Encrypted Demarche from the Foreign Ministry of the Empire of Tianxia From: Office of the Foreign Minister To: Office of the Presidency of the Confederation of Mid America Subject: Recognition and Armament Offers The Imperial Court has instructed the Foreign Ministry to send formal recognition to the Confederation of Midamerica and wish you prosperity in your future endeavours. Further it would like to communicate to you the Empire's willingness to send military aid in the form of arms purchases and an extension of a line of credit so that Mid America can pay off these purchases over time. Additionally we would like to offer to send trainers to your nation to train you in military equipment you purchased, and publically place these trainers at critical bases of yours for an indefinite period of time. Of course if these trainers were on these bases and someone were to attack these bases and Tianxia personnel were killed, one could imagine the corrective measures that Tianxia would then be obligated to take even in the absence of a mutual defense treaty.
Louisiana Politician Delorey Says 'Damn Defense Spending' for Education

Revolutionary Budget is Made in Acadiana

acadian_grunge_flag_sjpg1222.jpg

Government Flag of Acadiana

Acadiana, the poorest sovereignty in the entire Confederation of MidAmerica, has been struggling with the funding of the most basic utilities, services and infrastructure for its citizens for the past three-hundred years. The self-described "Christian Republic" may not have the highest concentration of wealth in MidAmerica or let alone the region of Louisiana but it does have a fighting spirit not just in its people be one man alone - Anthony P. Delorey.

Now President of the Christian Republic of Acadiana, Delorey has taken a radical and virtually unseen approach to the budget of the nation with some of the lowest-ranked schools in all of MidAmerica. Acadiana has recently received a "stimulus" of $7,000,000,000 from the Confederate Congress after a request, the first of its kind, was sent by President Delorey. The money has a very open terms-of-use, stating that it "is to be used for the betterment of the people of Acadiana and any other nations in MidAmerica."

Top generals of Acadiana requested that Delorey pump the funds into Acadiana's military during a public panel. "Damn Defense Spending!" President Delorey now famously cried, "We have children who are hungry, we have schools struggling to stay open and we have universities that have been brought to their knees by budget cuts. Damn Defense Spending, Damn pay increases for government officials and Damn the corruption that is scattered throughout this nation." Delorey went on a rant, claiming that Acadiana's western neighbor Sabine and Acadiana's eastern neighbor Pontchartrain - who both hold territory considered part of Acadiana's Cajun Country, "will not merge with us not because of political differences, but because our economy is a disgrace, our budget is a joke and our politics are corrupt. That is about to change."

President Delorey has already taken several actions, some executive and some approved by the Acadian Congress, such as major updates to infrastructure and money "in places that only dreamed of new cash" said Delorey. Education will receive a whopping $3.5 billion of the stimulus from the Confederation. The remaining half will be split, according to Delorey, between "renewing Acadiana's public infrastructure, cleaning up cities and former tourist hot-spots such as Lafayette" and even "to make Acadiana more appealing for unification with other parishes and republics in Louisiana."

While some such as Major Durant of the Acadian National Guard have called the new allocation of funds "unfortunate", other Acadians have expressed their support for President Delorey's allocation of the funds. Though plans to spend the money "properly", as the President said, "did not start out easy." The Acadian Congress tried putting some of the money into the military but received huge public upheaval and the largest protests ever seen in the capitol at Lafayette. The only major spending Delorey designated for the government was $10,000,000 a "decent but modest" capitol building to be built in Lafayette. Though it may not out shadow the towering monument built by Huey Long in Baton Rouge nearly two-hundred years ago, Delorey says "it will reflect the culture and beauty of Acadiana and the hard working people who have lived here since exile from Canada."

Since Delorey has accepted the funds, defense spending for the region was cut by fifty-percent which lead some to question the sanity of the new President however he explained it was all part of the deal. "The Confederation did not want to give me the money," he explained. "But I said that I was willing to work with the government in Austin because we need more unity in this Confederation. I told them 'Hey, why don't we show everyone else what unity can bring?' So I pledged to cut the defense budget of Acadiana and allow more Confederate troops here so long as they upheld their part of the bargain. If you ask me - it was worth it."

Only one week after the President's success in getting fresh funding for his "Christian Republic", nations from across MidAmerica have made similar requests. President Collins of the MidAmerican Congress said that "not everyone will get a super-fund from this congress but we will help who we can. I want to see this Confederation become a great union that others around the world look at as an example of how to succeed." Construction has already begun on replacing and building "hundreds" of new roads and bridges in Acadiana. President Delorey has this to say when asked what this money meant for Acadiana, "Our children will not starve - they will thrive and learn in this cultural heartland. They will become leaders who unite Louisiana, overcome the discrimination of being poor by being educated and will do this all while thanking God for the blessings they have received."

Unrest in The North, Troops Move to Oklahoma

Congress Approves 50,000 Additional Troops to Reinforce Northern Border

kosovo_3_666_493525a.jpg

Troops arriving from the Texas Panhandle

Reports confirmed by the state-run media of Faraway show that massive riots are ensuing in the disputed territory north of Oklahoma.

On Monday the Confederate Congress made "Emergency Action: 001" which ordered the military to send 50,000 troops of the Confederation into the Oklahoma region. The decision was made in congress after Governor Petersen of The Republic of West Oklahoma messaged put out an official Message of Distress which read in-part that, "I feel it is in the best security of my people that additional forces be brought into West Oklahoma to ensure that tranquility is kept." The Governor has refused to comment however Congress released a message through newly appointed Secretary of State Mark Collins. He confirmed the public that "MidAmerica will not be involving itself in any conflict and will continue to maintain a defensive policy. The troops moving into West Oklahoma and other parts of the region are there simply to reinforce the border and keep MidAmericans safe from any foreign threats."

While troop movements from the Confederation's "central" government may have been frowned on before, those who have already been moved into Oklahoma were received with a hero's welcome. This comes shortly after President Delorey of Acadiana allows thousands of troops into his nation while also cutting the tiny Republic's defense spending.

So far no harm has come to any MidAmericans from the "troubles" as the Secretary of State called them in the north.

Arkansas, Eastern New Mexico and Southern Missouri

Admitted Into Confederation as Territories

Military Moves In

CH-47DF_DVD-1100-2_300x375.jpg

Materials Being Moved Into Eastern New Mexico

On April 3 the Confederate Congress admitted the three new regions into the confederacy as territories under the direct control of the congress in Austin. The territories will be allowed to become independent states once the military concludes that peace and stability exists within the regions.

Over 100,000 soldiers were moved into Arkansas while an additional 20,000 were sent into southern Missouri. 20,000 more soldiers also were deployed to Eastern New Mexico though the rural region is not expected to be the cause of any trouble. While the territories are open to form their own governments there is a general fear mounting from multiple nations within the confederacy that all of Arkansas may unite to form one massive state which would still be below the population of the Houston-Galveston Republic. Resources, however, would be a different story.

The region of Arkansas has an abundant amount of farmland and mineral resources which could eventually lead it its economy outperforming any other in MidAmerica. Secretary of State Collins said, on behalf of the congress, that "If Arkansas chooses to unite into one nation, the choice of the people there will be respected." Secretary Collins continued that the resources the new lands will bring the Confederation will "benefit every member nation - big or small." While the military rolls into major cities and creates outposts in rural areas the rest of MidAmerica is standing by to see how many new members join the confederation.

Confederate Government Purchases NASA Facilities

NASA Put Under Control of Air Force

nasalogo_twitter.jpg

After weeks of debate and poll-taking, the Confederate Government purchased former NASA facilities in the Houston-Clear Lake area with the intention of "getting a man into space and maybe beyond," said a released statement from the Congress. Some call the investment and goals set by the congress an "overreach of government" and "a decision that should not have been made by a confederate government."

The decision came after multiple private companies petitioned the government to assist in funding or build a complex to launch satellites into space in order to help the private sector expand. Commander-in-Chief Travis of the armed forces said that bringing back NASA would not only help the private sector but "could enhance the capabilities of the military and allow MidAmerica to expand its scientific endeavors." Instead of being an independent organization of the government, NASA will be administered by the Air Force which would indirectly make it under the control of Chief Travis. He  said multiple times that he plans to see the $7.5 billion used "efficiently, carefully and effectively" and that MidAmerica "will gain triple that in knowledge, respect and innovations."

After six months the government brought together hundreds of the nations' best scientists and engineers whom have already designed and begun construction on vehicle designed to take a man into space. The budget, while not made public, was confirmed by the Chief to not exceed past the $7.5 billion granted to NASA by the congress. Every nation in the Confederation is awaiting what could be the first launch of a spacecraft from MidAmerica.

OPERATION WHITE SAND

CLASSIFIED

200px-Texas_Pilot_Flag_%281839-1845%29.s

A first wave of troops, 1,000 soldiers of the Airborn division, would be deployed to the Cayman islands and more specifically land at Georgetown where they would specifically move to secure the capitol as a base of operations. They would have been flown in by C-130s and been on their own by the time they hit the ground. The second wave of soldiers were 10,000 Marines brought in mostly by ship with an ample amount of air cover and radar to watch the surrounding radar. While the Marines would secure the islands and reinforce the Airborn division, 15,000 additional soldiers of the Army Rangers would move in and spread out to more local and rural areas and set up defense perimeters.

A supply line would be made via shipping from Port Houston and the Port of Galveston. Additional supplies could be sent by air but would be limited to emergency supplies. Previously contracted construction workers would be brought onto the islands via military escort and would begin constructing a major military facility to house up to 75,000 soldiers in emergency situations but 50,000 soldiers under normal operations. The base would be constructed on Grand Cayman. An outpost would be constructed on Little Cayman. The outpost would be designed to hold 1,000 men at most but 100 under normal conditions. For now, the outpost would retain a small size and be upgraded later when seen fit.

MILITARY PLANE CRASHES OFF THE COAST OF CENTRAL AMERICA
Cruise Liner Sees Entire Incident

Around midnight last night, several passengers aboard the cruise liner Viewer saw what two Air Force veterans on board claimed to be a C-17 with MidAmerican insignias on its sides. Within minutes it crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. “We didn’t know what was going on at first,” said Captain Rogers of the Viewer. “I was telling the passengers over the intercom about the seagulls and then suddenly this giant airplane comes out of nowhere and flies right into the flock!” The C-17 then reportedly flew almost another mile before losing all four engines and crashing just off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.

The Air Force and the Confederate Government has not released any statement regarding yet but is expected to before noon today while they “compile the facts” as one aid put it. Little is known about the crew or cargo on the C-17 except that it was a MidAmerican aircraft.

CONGRESS PASSES LAW MAKING CIVILIANS OWN 'SURVIVAL EQUIPMENT'

Commander in Chief Travis Praises it as 'For the good of the Confederation',

Mass Distribution to be Handled By Private Companies

monstertrain-470-0210.jpg

After an overwhelming two-thirds vote of the Confederate Congress, a bill was made into law which will require each adult citizen of MidAmerica to own "at least one firearm of each type: handgun, shotgun and rifle in their homes." In addition to the firearms, each citizen must also own "at least 30 rounds of ammunition for each given weapon at any given time and have it kept inside their homes."

In addition to the firearms and ammunition, every household will also be required to own a Citizens Band Radio and a radio other than the one in their vehicle and finally they need what the law describes as "3 months of canned or long-lasting food." While at first controversial and under extreme criticism, Chief Travis made a special address to the Congress in Austin where he told them that "if our governments ever fall, if natural or man-made disaster strikes our country, the continent or the world then I would like to see our citizens have a fighting chance - all they need is a fighting chance  - can we give that to them?"

The most controversial part of the bill was amended by request of Chief Travis. Originally, the law said that civilians would have to purchase all of these items themselves. However now, everything except the food stuffs will be provided for by the government who has contracted private companies around the country to sell the products to the government and multiple shipping companies to bring the items to all citizens.

There are of course exceptions to the mandatory ownership of weapons. All convicted felons, all citizens who have been declared insane and citizens who may not legally own a firearm will not be given any by the government. Also, in order to allow civilians of lesser income to purchase the food stuffs required to meet the requirements, food stuffs will not be checked by the Confederate Government for another two years.

The products have already begun shipping around the country and are expected to be fully deployed within a year with the majority being distributed in the first three months. The supplies are expected to take longer to distribute as time goes on, but swift measures will be adopted quickly to ensure that all citizens will be within the law. Special tax incentives will be given to citizens who purchase their own arms and radios.  An estimated 30,000,000 civilians are expected to be in compliance within two weeks.

'THE BOYS ARE HOME'

Central America returns airmen after brief questioning

120125-F-HK400-051.JPG

The Airmen returning home and meeting fellow soldiers at Ellington Field

Captain Henry MacArthur of the MidAmerican Air Force was sent home along with who remained of his crew after a deadly crash on the Yucatan peninsula that left people wondering if this would turn into a hostage situation. Before the crash, little was known about the newly formed United States of Central America. MacArthur, however, gave insight in to what he called, "a beautiful country with outstanding individuals and a new government that is sure not to disappoint." He said that he and his men were treated "fairly and given medical treatment" almost right after they were found at the crash sight. He said the Central American military brought him to a facility where he and his men were questioned and then sent home by the Central American government on an airplane they owned.

The government recently declassified parts of Operation White Sand which was a joint operation between the Navy, Air Force and Army to reinforce the Cayman Islands which are now under MidAmerican control. Chief Travis said  "now that we have our fort at the islands we can make this public. The men who died were brave and did everything they could to save their aircraft. Thank God the boys are home." The Chief ensured the press that the military would restructure their flight paths and shipping routes so that they will be more in international waters and something like "this unfortunate accident" could be prevented in the future. The Air Force has already ruled the accident not as pilot error but as "an Act of God" which puts no one on board in the wrong.

Captain MacArthur said that he believed the Central Americans "only had the best interests of their countrymen" at heart and that "we probably would have done the exact same thing. Who can blame them?" A proposal to create official diplomatic relations with The United States of Central America will be taken tonight however with Chief Travis in support of it, it is suspected to pass with flying colors. Secretary of State Mark Collins, who spoke on behalf of MidAmerica to the Central American government, is expected to be working on an official proposal to offer the USCA and possibly open an embassy there.

As of now, Chief Travis said that the Cayman "fort" will be staffed and have a soldier count of approximately 10,000 but he said that the numbers are "subject to change" and that the engineers may be sent to continue to build defense structures. Meanwhile, the Cayman Islands have officially become a territory of MidAmerica which gives them, while limited, representation in the Confederate Congress. John Davis, an El Paso native, and local reporter traveled to Grand Cayman. He reported that "the islanders are taking the change well and are happy to finally have a stable government in control and they are happy to have representation in congress." Davis went on to say that local leaders were relieved that they would be allowed to keep their positions of government and that no major change would take place in the every day life of the islanders.

Secretary of State Collins, after finishing with the "White Sand Accident" must now anxiously wait word from the Central American Government. The entire Confederation awaits word from a country only a few thousand miles away.

"Command Two this is Baton Rouge Command. I just got a call in from Local Slidell, Local Crowley, Lake Charles Command and a few others - in fact I'm looking at it myself right now. It looks like the Confederate States is making a large naval deployment heading due West towards us and we haven't gotten any official notice. I wanted to let you guys know up there..." The officer took off his headset for a moment and listened to someone in the control room yell something over to him, "Alright Command Two, I just got a new update about mass mobilization along the border. I'm going to call the Chancellor of Pontchartrain and let him know to standby for word from the Chief."

"Alright Baton Rouge I hear you loud and clear, send an alert out to President Delorey in Acadiana too - I'm going to send out a Standby Alert to Louisiana and Arkansas. Keep me updated."

---

"No no, I'm telling you that all you have to do is get a couple major cities that want teams again and we can jump-start the World Series - all it takes is a few millionaires." Shane's Secretary, Candy, picked up around his office while he talked on his phone to one of his friends in Nebraska. "Alright, alright - I'll let him know but hear this-" a loud ring chimed through the office which made Shane sit up and look over to his red phone. "I'll call you back Tim." Candy put down a stack of papers on Shane's desk and looked over somewhat worried. "I'm sure it's just one of the Commands calling about troops levels - did I tell you they were at an all time high?" Candy didn't buy it.

"Chief Travis here."
"Chief Travis I'm sorry to both you, this is Command Two, I just got word from Baton Rouge Command, confirmation from Lake Charles Command, and additional Confirmation from Houston Command that the Confederate States are launching a major naval deployment heading due West towards us. Baton Rouge also got confirmation from about ten different Locals including Bush and Ferriday that ground forces have been deployed near the border and don't seem to be heading anywhere but West. I thought it'd be best to call you about it sir. I already sent out a Standby Alert for both regions - Louisiana and Arkansas."

"Where does it look like they're heading to you?" Shane started putting on his jacket and straightened his tie right after he checked his pocket watch. "It is to early to tell but I'd say the coast of Louisiana, maybe south east of the Texas Coast. Any orders?"

"Have someone contact President Stewards of the Houston-Galvestonian Republic - let them know that we're closing Port Houston and Galveston and not to allow anymore outgoing traffic. Put all of the National Guards on Alert status as well. Oh and update Louisiana and Arkansas to alert status along with Texas. Put the other regions on standby. Last thing - get someone to tell Collins to tell Hudson Bay via encryption about what's going on.  You got that?"

"Yes I copy, when do you want your next update?"

Shane checked his watch again, "Fifteen minutes. Call me before that if they get within thirty miles of our territorial waters. I'm going to give Congress a leave option after being in session for so long. We'll see how they take it."

Shane hung up and walked out of his office, a Marine standing outside snapped to attention as he walked by. "What does this mean Chief?" said Candy as she chased after the now well-dressed man. "It means that we will be ready for whatever happens next."

---

Because of Shane's orders, any and all traffic from the Hudson Bay Federation would be approved after vitrifaction. The highly militarized joint-facility in the Caymans would be on High Alert status while the main shipping channels to Houston and Galveston would be temporarily diverted to Corpus Christi where any remaining vessels could land and stay and then it would be closed too.

Along the Texas coast and Western Louisiana coast, the Air Force would uncover and deploy some of it's Ballistic Defense Program and Missile Defense Program. Including: Lined deployments of MM40 Exocet with solid propellent boosters, Martel missiles equipped on high-altitude aircraft, 3,000 BGM-109B Tomahawk cruise missiles in launchers, and 1,200 "Harpoon" missiles along with 500 AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. Meanwhile Missile Command would be put on Alert status. Patrol craft would keep a tight perimiter around MidAmerican territorial waters and were given orders to not allow any foreign ships to pass.

The Air Force would be put on standby, with a few additional flights put into the air above Texas and Louisiana. Airmen would be stationed near their aircraft where many would already be fueled and armed on the runway.

Command would be confused, however, that the Confederate States would have nearly 800 air craft flying in a very tight space near each other all at the same time. Even if this were some type of attack, they could suffer casualties before a song shot was even fired because of the danger associated with pulling so many aircraft together in the general vicinity.

Meanwhile, 800 GCT 155mm vehicles would be discreetly brought near the border along with 500 Leopard 2A6M and 600 Leopard 2 vehicles. BGM-71 TOW would be set up in strategic locations with camouflage and two thousand AGM-114 Hellfire devices would be distributed immediately to soldiers already deployed with more available if needed. Choppers would also be armed with the 9K121 Vikhr and some actively patrolling. 2,000 MIM-72A/M48 Chaparral launchers would be deployed into Louisiana and an additional 1,500 would be brought along the Texas coast. Over 7,500 more FIM-92 Stinger launchers existed throughout the country and half were in the Texas-Louisiana area. The manufacturing of weapons would of course be contracted by the Confederate Government while the weapons were being deployed. 2,000 MIM-104 Patriot launchers would also be deployed near the border with the CSA and 750 brought along the south east Texas coast.

Secretary of State Mark Collins would make an international call to the department of foreign affairs for the Confederate States and ask them what they were doing. While the deployments made were minimal and the movement of soldiers small, the Confederation was fully equipped and prepared even though it may have appeared not to be.

---

Any civilian or military personnel attempting to enter MidAmerica would not be allowed into the Confederation unless they would first apply for VISAs not only for MidAmerica but also for whatever countries they wished to visit within the Confederation. VISAs are usually processed quickly.

Chief Travis put every region in the Confederation on standby, meaning that any members of the National Guard not currently at their home bases are required to report to duty within forty-eight hours. The other branches of the military are on Alert, meaning that the command structure is prepared to be deployed for defensive and offensive means however no mass deployment has taken place in order to avoid escalation. Defensive vehicles wielding anti-ballistic missile and anti-aircraft weapons have been deployed near the border and along the coast incognito but are fully equipped to thwart or put a big hole into an initial attack.

Though I can not share the specifics, even over a secure cable, I believe we are prepared as is. I will talk to Chief Travis and see what he can do to restore normal civilian activities. Also, by order of the Commander in Chief, Federation air craft are allowed to freely travel through MidAmerica with guidance given by air traffic control after being properly identified.

Civilian traffic would start up again between Corpus Christi and the rest of the world. The main shipping channel would also be opened to Port Houston and Galveston but ships would be advised to go out at their own risk. Fishing vessels, which made up a decent portion of the MidAmerican civilian fleet, would continue normal activities. However, patrol craft armed with anti-missile and anti-aircraft weapons and offensive countermeasures would continue to patrol the perimeter of MidAmeircan waters.

The spies trying to infiltrate into the Confederation would promptly receive a response for the requests made for VISAs.

REJECTED

Your request for a VISA has been REJECTED by the Department of State. The Confederation of MidAmerica and The Confederate States of America currently do not have any diplomatic relations nor embassies with each other. Until such relations are formally established and an economic treaty opening the borders between the two nations is made, citizens of the Confederate States of America are not allowed into the capitol or any member-state within the Confederation.

Additional Details:

A recent buildup of CSA troops along the MidAmerican border has prompted the Confederate Government to also reject all VISAs on diplomatic requests unless directly made from the Head of State or director of foreign affairs for the Confederate States of America.

Do you want to make a change in your country? Call your local representative and ask them to approve formal diplomatic relations with MidAmerica today!

The buildup of CSA troops along the border of Arkansas was already expected with troops and additional vehicles to be moved to the border, with the same measures taken as in Louisiana. Meanwhile, the Department of Defense would order the mass construction of more missiles, tanks, assault vehicles, and missile launchers.

In other news, nighty-percent of adult civilians now had the required weapons according to MidAmerican law.

"Okay so tell me this, why do we need to personally check each VISA that comes through the system? Why can't the computer just handle this?" Jeffry was a government employe happy with his job but curious as to why it existed - it was the twenty-fourth century after all. "Well," said Alex, Jeffry's fellow coworker who stamped ACCEPTED multiple times on different VISAs and then looked up, "I wouldn't question it. I mean, you want to keep this job right? Why even ask questions like that?" Jeffry accidentally stamped REJECTED on a VISA and quickly threw it into the pile before him so no one would see. "Yes but why are we needed? I love this job, I get paid eight-dollars an hour to stamp things and talk to all of you, but isn't this just a bit of government waste?"

Alex looked perplexed at a group of VISAs which were from the former Confederate States, or now the People's Republic to the East. "The computer says any and all VISAs should be rejected for anyone from the Confederate States of America... But the computer also says that these are approved. Something isn't right here." Someone snickered in the back and nudged his foot under Jeffry's chair and kicked one of his feet. "That is why we are needed," said Jeffry's annoying peer in a high pitched voice.

"I'm going to give this to Mister McDonald. If anyone else gets any from our amigos to the East do you mind handing them over to me?" Alex got up and walked to their boss's office who began shouting because he, the department head of the laziest and most useless bureau (until now) the Bureau of VISAs. Congress wasn't creative with coming up with names. "Did you know that one of the Confederate news sources is 'CSA Federal News'?" Jeffry rolled his eyes at his annoying coworker and stamped another REJECTION stamp on a VISA. "So, what's your point?" The coworker giggled and approved a VISA, throwing it into the pile before him. "The Confederate States of America was a Confederacy with a primitive central government. There was absolutely nothing federal about it in any way shape or form. It would be like naming a newspaper for Saudi Arabia 'The Republic Times'." Jeffry made no comment but noted that whomever named the newspaper did not put much thought into it.

---

Alex flinched as his boss furiously slammed the VISAs down onto his desk. "When I was given this job they told me I'd never have to do any work! And now, here I am, doing work! I hate liars Alex, I absolutely hate them!" The boss - whose name was Clerk - double checked Alex's finding and picked up his phone as he looked at the odd telegraph device in front of him. "Send someone up who knows how to work this thing. I never bothered to show up to take the test." Someone came in who knew how to work a telegraph from one of the relevant floors that actually mattered and listened for orders. The cable would be sent to the Department of State in Austin. "State Department.  Bureau of VISAs intercepted multiple VISA requests from the Confederate States. The computer is telling us to approve them but is also telling us that all requests from the Confederate States should be rejected. Orders needed. -Clerk Johnson."

---

"Mister Secretary, this is from the Bureau of VISAs. Possible sabotage has been made on our VISA system. I advise you let the Chief know. In the meantime, the Bureau needs to know if they should approve these or not... Even though we do not accept VISAs from the Confederate States because we have no diplomatic relations with them. Plus with this whole border incident, it is impossible to get one approved unless you are the Head of State and even then it'd take a bit of possessing. What should we do?" Mark, the Secretary of State, put down his newspaper and shrugged. "Change all the passwords and configurations for the Bureau of VISAs and keep the human system in place - thank God we have them and not just computers."

Mark's adviser nodded, "And what about the VISA requests?"

Mark put up the newspaper back in front of his face, "Approve them. Also, contact intelligence - I'll tell Chief Travis."

---

The VISAs would be approved. The pictures of those who entered would be wired to every Command Center, intelligence center, military facility, government building, post office, police station, and state park. Intelligence would keep a 24/7 eye on them while they were in the country.

When the foreigners would make it to the border they would be met by someone from the Department of State. "Welcome to MidAmerica my friends! I am National Security Deputy Ray Gibbs. I am here to advise all of you that after an order from the Secretary of State, foreigners are no long allowed to bring or have cameras in MidAmerica until further notice. If you have any electronic device on you, including a cell phone with picture taking abilities, I advise you hand it over and we can mail it back to your home. We have a lovely giftshop a few miles down where you can buy a cell phone and anything else you need. Happy trails!" \

The foreigners could not of course bring in their own vehicles either and would have to take taxis or other forms of public transportation around. Taxis would be waiting to bring them to the city of their choice. Meanwhile, intelligence would be constantly behind them, watching their every move. 2,000 personnel had been given the duty of keeping constant watch on these individuals. Twenty helicopters and a Special Forces team were deployed from Alexandria to the border so that they could also keep constant track on them. Police and surveillance around the country and throughout the cities would also keep a constant watch on them. All banks would also be given their pictures and told to call the State Department if they saw them however this wouldn't even be necessary because intelligence would be behind them every step, watching their every move. If they would purchase or steal a camera, they would be arrested. If they would make a phone call it would be recorded (especially on a payphone). If they would make reservations at a hotel, their line in their room would be tapped and their computers would be watched as well.

If they tried to go to any military facilities and attempt to view on the inside they'd be detained for questioning.

Also, their VISAs were approved for twenty-four hours because, of course, the CSA had deployed nearly half of their armed forces to the border with MidAmerica and so having foreign civilians of a seemingly unfriendly country didn't seem like a wise decision.

But noted, their VISAs were approved and they were allowed into the country.

CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA SURRENDERS TWO DAYS AFTER CONGRESS DECLARES WAR

Chief Travis Calls Hudson Bay Military "Heroes of The Century"

After only two days of war with the Confederate States of America, otherwise known as the People's Socialist States of America, the CSA has surrendered and the American Commonwealth has taken control of the former enemy land. Over 2,000 MidAmerican uniformed men and women were killed in the initial attack along the border. PSSA casualties resulting from the MidAmerican retaliation are still estimated but expected at somewhere 5,000 after explosive missile barrages and concentrated artillery strikes on enemy border towns. Civilian casualties are currently unconfirmed but could reach nearly 1,000 on both sides.

After the PSSA launched what were reported to be at least fifteen to twenty nuclear warheads from the Florida panhandle, Chief Travis ordered a launch of 750 cruise missiles at the Florida Panhandle where the strikes originated to destroy any remaining launch pads so that no other launches could take place. The damage given was supported to have been severe, with over 100 over the missiles being launched from the MidAmerican Navy which saw its first battle situations arise. The Chief said that "a major invasion into the Socialist States was not initiated because the war was so short. The only lands invaded were border towns that were pulled out of one word was given that the American Commonwealth was taking control of the territory."

The Hudson Bay Federation's military was praised as the, "Heroes of the century" by Travis who told the media at a press conference that they lead the front along the Mississippi river when PSSA forces were starting to gain ground into the region of Louisiana. A special fund by the Confederation has already been made to replace all of the bridges destroyed - but Chief Travis said that "it was worth it." Travis said that MidAmerican soldiers fought bravely and that the Hudson Bay Federation has proven their loyalty to MidAmerica a dozen times over.

"It's at times like this that I am happy to say we have friends to the north. We are forever in their debt, and I hope Congress will allow us to learn from this by reorganizing our military so that if another situation like this were to arise, we could handle it better." Secretary of State Mark Collins has said he will be traveling to Washington D.C. in a conference to discuss what should be done with the former leaders of the PSSA and who deserves reparations.

CONGRESS HANDS MILITARY AUTHORITY TO CONFEDERATE GOVERNMENT

Member nations must allow their military to be nationalized by request of the Chief

women_military_-_from_veterans_today.jpg

After approval from two-thirds of the member nations in the Confederation, the Congress approved a new law that will force all governments to forfeit their militaries, or allow them to be "nationalized", if ordered by Commander in Chief Travis. This move comes after some trouble in organizing the military in defense of the PSSA along the border. Chief Travis says that this move will "allow the military to swiftly respond to national disasters and act in defense of the Confederation without hesitation."

Only a few days after Congress has declared Peace and over 2,000 uniformed soldiers were killed in combat, lines have formed from nations in Louisiana to the nations in Texas for new recruits to the Marines, Navy, and Air Force but especially the National Guard who took the hardest blow. No formal protest has arrived from any member State yet, however many Texas States have already expressed concern about losing to much authority to "the central government."

VISA SYSTEM UPDATED FOR MIDAMERICA

Congress says it will increase foreign tourism and business

travel-visa.jpg

Earlier today, the Confederate Congress passed a resolution that will make it easier for certain foreigners to enter the Confederation via the VISA system. Previously, all VISAs would have to be applied for months in advance and would be denied if said nation had no official diplomatic relations with MidAmerica. However now, with the effort being led by Secretary of State Mark Collins, citizens from any nation with its capitol in North America may be approved for VISAs so long as they can prove their citizenship and meet all requirements. In addition, citizens from the Hudson Bay Federation and Faraway can apply for VISAs and will get a response within one month or possibly even sooner.

Secretary of State Collins said that this move is to show "unity throughout North America" after the recent attacks. Collins says that he hopes this will boost the Confederation's economy. While MidAmerica is now much more open to North America, the rest of the world will still have to appease to the original policy of having diplomatic relations unless they are representatives.
