Imperator Azenquor
A short reply from the Serene Republic would be sent to the government of Prairie Union stating that the Serene Republic would send a military judge, but that the government felt that it would be necessary to discus several issues before prosecution of former Imperium officials could be undertaken by the proposed tribunal. The statement outlined the matters to be discussed in several bullet points: -Scope of the proposed Tribunal, it's composition and authority -Definition of the extent of the proposed Tribunal's jurisdiction -Which legal system will be employed by the Tribunal ***Meanwhile*** On the ground, as a precautionary measure, the Vaulian military personnel in Vancouver would seal the region off to prevent any former Imperium officials or military personnel from leaving the area. Due to limited information regarding the identities of these persons, Imperium citizens would not be permitted to enter or leave Vancouver. jeff744
The main items will be: deliberate targeting of civilians, using chemical and biological weapons against civilian targets, nuclear first strikes, detonation of major explosives in cities, and any other war crime or human rights abuse that is uncovered. The intent was for the panel of judges to have complete authority over the sentencing of the criminals, including the death penalty.
Mara Lithaen
Unfortunately, there were, as previously stated, precisely zero military members or government officials to pursue. The lockdown area was devoid of life, the city a burned-out husk from the explosives that had leveled it to the ground. The people had been evacuated, tended carefully by military and law enforcement personnel, as with every other city - and then each and every major city in the Imperium had been brought crashing down, leaving nothing for the unworthy invaders. The military and government officials had placed interim leaders at the head of the refugee groups - and summarily vanished off the face of the earth thereafter. Imperator Azenquor
***Relatively classified*** In Vancouver, the Vaulian military and police forces began a massive investigation to locate officials implicated in war crimes. The process would take some time, but it was abundantly clear that despite the Imperium's sudden collapse that it would be virtually impossible for the entirety of the Northern Imperium's civil and military personnel to simply disappear. Investigators cast a broad search net and began questioning hundreds of former Imperium citizens. To help the process along, any information gathered from those questioned, or from other intelligence gathering operations would immediately be forwarded to all allied nations. The Vaulian police received one clear directive from the high command (classified): "Any former citizen of the Northern Imperium who held the equivalent rank of General or above, or who within the last five years served in the Northern Imperium's government as an elected official, bureaucrat, consultant, diplomat or civil servant should be detained for questioning. Any individual, civilian or military, who worked with the former Northern Imperium's chemical or nuclear weapons should also be detained." They set about their tasks with a ruthless efficiency, recalling vividly the Imperium's cowardly attack on Sygh-Varthys.
Centurius
Like in all the other parts of the Northern Imperium the Athenian occupied ones too would find a significant police action going on by soldiers, within the first day dozens were detained, within a week hundreds. In addition several arrests were made in the enclave in Louisiana. All of these would for now be detained in the New Orleans Military Prison. Rather than sending a military judge the Athenian Federation chose a judge from the Supreme Court, a message was sent to coalition members that Athens could not support the death penalty. Not even for these criminals.
TheShammySocialist
"Although the Republic of Greater Colombia views this development with mild interest, we would like to ask clarification on some certain points within the initial statement by Pro-Consul von Heitzinger. The Republic has strong ties with one of the intended member states of the forming Grand Army in question, the Hudson Bay Federation, including strong defense industry ties, does your statement on military companies reflect on this relationship?" Triyun
Military Dispatch from the Pro-consul: This would depend on whether or not those ties are traditional defense ties, or consist of mercenaries in all but name operating without a license. Our chief concern was the use of illegal mercenary groups by the Northern Imperium in the weeks preceding the conflict. For the sake of everyone we wish to know about such groups ahead of time and will of course discuss it with member states. Clearly those groups which have failed to receive permission will be dealt with case by case. Those that act in good faith have less to fear.
To: Pro-consul von Heitzinger From: Virtus International, North American Command Re: Operating License, North America Pro-consul von Heitzinger, Regarding recent changes in the North American sector, Virtus International would like to petition the Grand Army of North America for continued operational access to the North American continent. Virtus International has a long and illustrious career spanning the world from bases in Oceania to the Arctic, and as one of the world's oldest private military corporations it is a safe bet to assume Virtus will continue their stable security services without aggression against the G.A.N.A. Should it be necessary, Virtus International is happy to station a liaison in the headquarters of G.A.N.A. Regards, Michael Croix Founder, C.E.O. of Virtus International
It is so authorized.
Dispatch to the World: It is the will of the Grand Army of North America that all leadership at any point associated with the Northern Imperium turn itself in to us. Attempts to harbor any official will be seen as a aggressive hostile act to the Grand Army of North America. Unconditional extradition is expected to begin immediately.
jeff744
Arrests of former NI officers and government were beginning to slow as their numbers decreased and the ones remaining got better at hiding. Experts estimated that approximately 75% of the targets had been arrested. Meanwhile Prairie Union forces began to process the civilians of Alberta, issuing all Prairie Union social security numbers, health cards, and various other tasks in preparation for the full annexation of the provinces. VigilantWatcher
"The Federal Republic of Iran hopes that the powers in the region will now work together to prevent any resurgence of the abomination that was the Northern Imperium and that Alaska will be as it was before."
