Calling themselves the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, the new nation state is to be governed from its original capital city of Nouakchott, south of the AU Firebase Opie in Nouadhibou. Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi will serve as acting President of Mauritania until elections are held, again, under AU supervision to ensure fairness.
