Beautify'[/i] initiative, and word that the previously Nod-affiliated arms consortium comprised of National Defense Industry Incorporated, MILitary Aviation Complex and the newly dubbed Nascent Military Industries return to the East African marke-"[/b]

East Africa had settled into a lull following the rather precarious aftermath of the Third East African War. Before the bodies of the victims of the Addis Ababa and Sudan/Ethiopian border nuclear strikes had even cooled, the nation they had sacrificed their lives for simply ceased to exist - seemingly swallowed up in the 'Grace' and 'Light' of the one they called [i]the Princess[/i].

It was [i]the Princess[/i], they said, that had reined in the Nodic madmen that were hellbent on razing Monaco, and Athens soon after, to the ground. It was [i]the Princess[/i] that would ensure that the people of East Africa would never again put themselves in danger with their wanton lust for battle. It was the Princess that would show them the light, and introduce a new age of peace and social reform to their pitiful and formerly sinful lives.

But the Nodic ideology was hardy, persistent with its desire to survive. It was the inevitability of Nod's purpose of Brotherhood, Unity and Peace - a peace that millions had habitually vowed would come 'through power', a peace that was violated again and again and again. It would be impossible to take the Nodic persona away from East Africa, even with the change being self perpetuating. The Principality of Aeon was essentially a slipcover draped over the ugliness that lay underneath.

The Aeon would beat their chests and sing in elegant choirs about how they were changed men and women. Peace loving, pacifist - to a fanatical degree. Princess Rhianne Lucretia Sidamo had gained a near cult status amidst the almost religious fervor. The Monastic Order of Medicine, a Nodic organization through and through that had been allowed to continue its practice relatively unchanged under the Aeon banner, had thrown its entire weight, used all political as well as social capital it had to ensure its place as the official 'Cult of Rhianne'.

But as the old Nodic proverb said: [i]Oftentimes, devout fanaticism is merely an overcompensation for repressed doubt.[/i]

Such hypocritical developments were seen throughout the former Nodic territories. The towns, cities and metropolises of Nod, which were little more than drab bunker-like concrete mazes, offered much in the way of functionality, affordability, ease of maintenance and defensibility. They were almost immediately set upon by swarms of Aeon artisans. Everything was to be remoulded in [i]'Our Lady's image'[/i] - fauna soon dotted the once artificial landscape and gleaming marble facades (or plaster where cost prohibitive) soon shone like gems in an ocean of browns and greens.

The Nodic Militancy was soon known as the Aeon Militancy. Militants were now 'blood-followers' of the Princess. Many pains were taken to shed the brutal, barbaric and draconian image of the warriors of East Africa, much like the cities they hailed from. They still trained the same way though - their effectiveness would be missed sorely if they slacked in their duties. They merely swore allegiance to a different sort of despot, many begrudgingly, but many more willingly. If anything was lost when Nod was struck with those nuclear weapons, it was their sense of individuality. Aeon warriors would ritually kneel before the Princess both physically and most especially mentally - breaking their oaths as Nodic militants to never bow to anyone.

If there was anything the East Africans had to give up that was openly bemoaned following the newly decreed 'Aeonification' of East Africa, it was the smash hit prime-time television show - [url="http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=65298"]Today's Execution[/url]. Of course such televised killings were not in line with the Aeon line of thinking. The killings were necessary, as always and they continued in earnest despite the Princess' knowledge or sanction- yet they were no longer to be used as tools of entertainment. Princess Rhianne had condemned the major news outlet to the 'annals of Nodic barbarity'. In its place rose the Aeon Certified News.[b]

"... the Princess would eventually issue a statement later on in the day, reassuring Aeon citizens that the combined resurgence of NMI, NDII and MILAC would not merely be a continuation of the Nodic Weapons Research Complex - but serve to bolster the burgeoning Aeon economy by converting its heavy industrial capacity to much more peaceful means. If there was any discontent with the deadly trio's homecoming, it fell on deaf ears - with NMI stocks in particular posting a 35% share price increase over historical figures. Turning to domestic issues now, agricultural yields were especially fruitful, with hydroponic plants leading the charg-"[/b]

The ACN would become one of the largest news corporations in all of Africa, rivaling even TE in size. In terms of sheer numbers and viewership, the Aeon Certified News would certainly become a powerhouse, maintaining offices throughout the Aeon territories including the Antarctic, as well as reporters within Cochin, Ceylon and the PRA. It would be solely charged with covering all events within the Principality, from the pronouncements and decrees of the Princess, to smaller, less grandiose announcements from ruling House Sidamo - usually of interest only to locals. It would be the only news agency allowed to report directly from the royal houses, giving it unparalleled access to the Aeon command structure. With access to the highest and most revered Sisters within the Monastic Order of Medicine and dedicated liasons to all branches of the Aeon military, it was the only news source that could cover matters relating to the Aeon state with true authority.

Even with the demise of 'historical African antagonists' such as the Raochinian Kingdom and the Aether Empire and the relative state of peace between both the Rebel Army and former Mechodamian states, the world remains an uncertain and often hostile place. The Principality of Aeon needs the means to minimize the risks to its security that could arise as forces are reduced.

This can best be done by exploiting its technological advantages.

We have entered a period of profound and dynamic turbulence and uncertainty that is changing our national security policy. Consequently, the structure and composition of future military forces to support national security policy will be very different from those of our recent past. Where these changes will lead is anything but clear. In many minds this has created expectations of a peace resulting from substantial reductions in military strength under the watchful and everloving gaze of our beloved Princess Rhianne Sidamo.

[size="6"][size="2"]Word of a number of new developments from the newly recreated Weapons Research Complex of Nascent Military Industries, National Defense Industry Incorporated and MILitary Aviation Complex was carefully hidden from the public eye. Rumor had it within the highest echelons of the Aeon Militancy that the Avatar-of-War himself had ordered such secrecy, in a bid to 'shield' the strong willed, yet ultimately innocent Princess Rhianne from the troublesome truth - Marxon had lied to her about the reactivation of the tripartite weapons conglomerate.

Marxon was a realist. While he did not show it, he was still a Nodic Militant at his core, despite the genuine faith he had for the Princess and her faith. He had pledged himself long ago to lay down his life if need be, if only to further the Aeon principle of peace through fervent demilitarization, love and compassion for all.

And yet there it was; '[/size][/size][i]Oftentimes, devout fanaticism is merely an overcompensation for repressed doubt.[/i]'[size="6"][size="2"]

He knew that the citizens of East Africa could not merely walk away from their collective past - no matter through which path they would choose to travel. As an Aeon, or a Nodic citizen, there would always be those in the world who would seek to create their own world orders - an order that would inevitably be thrust upon the East African to live by.

That would never come to pass so long as Marxon lived. He was not particularly faithful to any religion - yet this solemn pledge would be the only thing he would pray for in his life.

Titanium-Boron Intermetallic Incendiary Warhead (TBII)[/b]

A high-temperature reaction warhead capable of generating a reactant cloud approaching temperatures of [/size][/size][size="6"][size="2"]3700°C (standard thermite weaponry exceeds temperatures of [/size][/size][size="6"][size="2"]2500[/size][/size][size="6"][size="2"]°C), the TBII warhead is a multi purpose tool designed to be useable as a standard warhead filler alongside the staple High Explosive along all branches of the Aeon Military. TBII warheads release extremely large amounts of energy - capable of cleansing a variety of targets within the blast radius.

The TBII enjoys a fire-start capability unsurpassed by other weapons systems. Once started it cannot be quenched. When water is employed to combat a TBII induced fire, the reaction disassociates the water into its hydrogen and oxygen components. This disassociation tragically creates a secondary reaction, forming oxides of titanium and boron, releasing additional energy to enhance the firestorm capability of the warhead.

The TBII system enjoys the ability to simply burn through bunkers and conventional structures especially when utilized with a penetrator warhead, can destroy lightly armored vehicles and severely damage heavier weapons systems. In addition, the intermetallic incendiary nature of this warhead type shows a secondary anti-personnel capability, with a significant promise of neutralizing biological and chemical agents in the vicinity. Psychological effects on both friendly and enemy personnel have been earmarked for further study in the near future.


[b]Magneto Hydrodynamic Explosive Warhead (MHE)[/b]

The MHE warhead essentially shoots jets or shards of molten metallics which are then able to take on aerodynamic shapes during flight with the help of powerful electromagnetic fields. The MHE creates its penetrators and liquid jets dynamically, without the need for complex liners within the warhead itself. The result is a relatively simplistic warhead design translatable to a variety of platforms.

A standard MHE warhead is composed of several sections - the first is an onboard Compressed Magnetic Flux Generator, which uses solid state switching arrays and impulse radiating antennas to generate both narrowband and ultrawideband pulses according to pre-programmed instructions within the warhead, determined by the platform (rocket, ATGM or cruise missile) prior to detonation at a user selectable distance from the target. The explosion, in conjunction with the CMFG creates penetrator(s) to suit the target at hand.[/size][/size]

While traditional chemical explosive methods are highly inefficient when creating jets and penetrators, the MHE warhead offers greater efficiency, greater control and the ability to generate and accurately time multiple jets and penetrators from a single charge, restricted only by the store of penetrator material within the warhead. The MHE's CMFG driven, magneto hydrodynamically formed jets and penetrators have markedly improved velocities compared to traditional Explosively Formed Jets (EFJ) and Self-Forging Penetrators, while also retaining the ability to have said penetrators custom made for the task at hand - a spear for larger targets like bunkers and armored fighting vehicles, to multiple shards for anti-personnel and soft-skinned vehicles. An MHE warhead can kill more effectively, and much more efficiently.

Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis Warhead (SHS)[/b][/color]

In a self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) warhead reaction, a wide range of powdered metals, or metal oxides, together with elemental additions of carbon, nitrogen and boron are made to react to form new intermetallic alloys, generating significant heats of reaction. This process is performed by rapidly heating the warhead filler through the application of an explosive shock wave.

The energy from this explosive shock wave lends itself nicely to reactive warhead technology such as shaped charge and explosively formed penetrator settings. The SHS warhead enjoys the advantage of being a multi-effect weapon - intense energetic blast and the associated overpressures, as well as intense thermal effects. The SHS is a strong contender to replace standard Aeon HE in the upcoming years outright. The SHS offers the chance to give dismounted warriors, special operatives, or ultralight weapons systems unprecedented firepower.

The SHS, alongside other developments from NMI, is fully compatible with Ceylon gifted 3D manufacturing processes. Bodies made by these facilities are of sufficiently high strength that they can be machined, rolled, forged, or plastically deformed by other techniques in a safe, controllable manner. It is only when these bodies are shocked with an explosive reaction that they can realize their full-energy potential.[/size][/size]

An upgrade long in the making, the mod 08 of the SL-RM is an extensive overhaul of the weapon that has seen more action against live targets than any other in the AMC's arsenal. It was the mod 07 that famously destroyed the [url="http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=80873&view=findpost&p=2188761"]RRN Pyotr[/url], and was used in a [url="http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=96792&view=findpost&p=2568624"]daring strike[/url] through the Strait of Gibraltar at the Monagesque Navies stationed in it. With similar dimensions, and range with an increased speed and payload of 1000 kg opposed to the 800 kg provided by the model 07, the model 08 is a clear step forwards in the AMC's strategic arsenal.

The Quarter Master Command of the Kingdom of Cochin would like to purchase certain numbers of the AS-GAM , UP-YERS, SL-RM mod 08 and the Titanium-Boron Intermetallic Incendiary Warhead (TBII) and Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis Warhead (SHS) weapons technologies. We are particularly interested in the TBII weapons which we would require in large numbers before a technological transfer and setting up of manufacturing facilities are set up in our industries.

OOC: You'd be asking for the missile names coloured in [color="#2E8B57"]green[/color], since the [color="#FF0000"]red[/color] ones are Nodic designations.

IC: Instead of delivering the first division sized shipments of these weapons to the north and eastern sectors of the Aeon territorial holdings, they would immediately be airlifted by a series of sorties by Aeon heavy lifters to nearby Cochin bases. The Aeon fleets stationed in the Indian would provide an overwatch for the flights until they passed over into allied hands.

If Cochin had access to Ceylon 3D printing manufacturing systems, a number of templates would be prepared for delivery in a later delivery. If Cochin did not have access to this technology, a message would be sent to the Ceylon CEO for permission to do the transfer of a number of Aeon licensed machines to be sent to Cochin, or, if the Ceylon liked, a request for them to give a mutual ally the technology.

Taking advantage of the recent influx of mineral and natural resource wealth from the northern Aeon holdings within Sudan, and the burgeoning indigenous development, extraction, refinement and distribution industries that accompanied it, National Defense Industries Incorporated (NDII)'s latest creation is seen by many within the Aeon Militancy as being a pure manifestation of the Aeon's gift to East Africa.

The Titan is the first of the newly instated Main Battle Tank classification. This MBT role will displace both prior 'Light Tank' and 'Heavy Tank' classes, easing the supply chain greatly, and allowing for an even greater return on investment - all Titan parts have been built utilizing off-the-shelf components considered standard within the Nodic, and now Aeon Militancy, with newer, more advanced onboard electronics and other hardware boasting backwards compatibility with them.

Beautiful, fluid curves accentuate the Titan's form - a stark contrast from the striking, harsh angles of Nodic armored fighting vehicles. Gone are the days of the dark, terror-inspiring war machines and their free roam through East African lands - the low profile and organic flowing lines, accentuated with a progressive silver finish make that quite clear. But the purpose of the A1M7 was not lost on Aeon designers, however. Underneath the charming exterior lay a machine, a guardian filled with no respite, no remorse for those who would blaspheme against the Aeon Princess. Aesthetics aside, the Titan was made with all the finesse and prowess Nodic vehicles had at their disposal, all it would need to seek out and confront other first world armored threats with success.

[b]Design:[/b] Similar in weight and armament to the [url="http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=59602&view=findpost&p=1624264"]NDII Defender[/url], while boasting a much wider range of usage like the [url="http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=59602&view=findpost&p=1613239"]NDII Chaperone[/url], the Titan improves on both in a number of areas. It Sports a M35A1 Flashboard Large ARea Emitter (FLARE) Electrothermal-Chemical (ETC) L58 120mm main gun, coaxial 30mm six programmable-barrel gas-operated Gatling gun and internal high-angle 60 mm breech loading mortar - marked improvements from the unwieldy dual C125GS L55 125mm gun and 30 mm linear action autocannon of the Defender. An under-armor auxiliary 35 KVa generator supplies power to an internal Auxiliary Power Unit, proving electrical power without the high fuel consumption and large infrared signature of the main engine. This electric APU utilizes high density battery banks instead of traditional diesel - charging when the A1M7 is in motion. When idle, stored energy is used to power the air conditioner, electronics and other onboard devices.

Protection:[/b] The Nodic Heavy Tank armor system was extensively overhauled before seeing the naked form of the Titan. The wholly ceramic titanium plates and delicious armor filling that were ubiquitous on Nodic AFVs were replaced by a ceramic composite armor composed of titanium diboride-alumina ceramic granules suspended in a carbon fibre reinforced epoxy resin matrix - similar in relations to the substrate and resin that comprises the much more famous kevlar composite armor. Beneath is a multi-layered, low-carbon, nickel-chromium-molybdenum modified rolled homogenous armor (MRHA) alloy plating and Grade 5 titanium alpha-beta alloy.[/left]
Extensive survivability systems ensure the Titan's combat resiliency. The system consists of a quadruplex 'drive-by-wire' system, automatic Halon fire-fighting system, the Patron soft-kill system and the Guardian hard kill system. Built of a 'conventional' monoque design with a rear power plant and transmission and central hull/turret station, the three-man crew is entirely located inside a single fighting compartment enclosed by a titanium ballistic tub and controlled deformation sections, including blow-out panels for fuel and ammunition compartments. The driver is placed in a prone position near the front hull station, with the other crew positions placed in tandem on the left of the turret. The main gun and autoloader occupy the central portion of the unmanned turret, the coaxial Gatling gun and ammunition on the right. The commander is located behind the gunner, with both having their own cupola hatches with stabilized panoramic periscope sights and rotating IR viewers. The A1M7 has an estimated 2,200mm RHAe vs HEAT and 1800 mm versus kinetic energy penetrator effective thickness glacis plate, a fighting compartment cover, and thick side skirts for enhanced protection over the frontal arc and flanks. Anti-mine protection is given by closed cell aluminium foam with titanium backing plate. The Titan is CBRN compliant, with a combined overpressure, self-cleaning air filtration/conditioning unit and is covered with extensive EM protection in vital areas.

The Patron is an active system designed to disrupt enemy anti-tank guided weapons, be they laser, thermal or even electro-optically guided. It is comprised of an automatic aerosol grenade launching system that masks the tank from laser rangefinders, designators, as well as the optics of EO guided weapons systems should a lock-on be detected, and a modular laser system used to blind the laser guided or thermal seeking munitions that pass through.

The Guardian is an active-kill system designed to monitor incoming threats most likely to ignore, avoid or reject the Patron soft-kill system - typically direct fire from Kinetic Energy penetrators or top-attack guided weapons. It is programmed to intercept these threats at long range by detecting the launch signature of a missile or report of a tank gun. After detection, the system waits for confirmation of Patron engagement. If the threat continues, the Guardian designates an appropriate countermeasure launcher to fire a Magneto Hydrodynamic Explosive (MHE) based defeat mechanism to activate. The Guardian pre-programs the required magnetic field needed for optimal self forging penetrator disperal against the threat, typically a conical area 30 m out from the vehicle hull.

[b]Target Acquisition:[/b] The A1M7 employs a radically new onboard electronics suite dominated comprehensive 360° peripheral vision system for improved hull-down situational awareness and seamless integration with the Aeon Armored Command Unit propagated battle net - a third generation IIDU focal plane array sensor, LIDAR weapon sight and digital sensor combination. A digital fire control system is realized by a gyrostabilized panoramic charge-coupled device digital imager against conventional targets, and a millimeter wave radar for usage against low flying rotary wing aircraft and concealed tertiary targets in conjunction with pre-programmable air burst or high-performance penetrator rounds.

[b]Armament:[/b] The M35A1 FLARE L58 120 mm main gun is a moderate recoil smoothbore cannon with trunnion balance and stabilization, with an extended titanium composite hydropneumatic recoil mechanism, and has a hybrid electric/solid propellant propulsion system based around the flashboard large area emitter concept which works by vaporizing and ionizing short gaps between metal diamonds (such as copper) over long strings. A return conductor drives the created plasma towards a vacuum, which is towards the propellant of the round. The solid propellant is catalyzed by a mix of the plasma and heat radiation, convection and conduction. The M31A1 gun also features a compressed air fume extractor, autofrettaged gun tube with replaceable liner, and a muzzle brake to reduce recoil impulse.

A volume efficient capacitor-based pulse forming network (PFN) recharged from prime power is intergrated into the hull to provide the electrical energy input of the plasma channels. This is electronically controlled between 39 kJ and 110 kJ to achieve the optimum performance of the gun system and ammunition at differing ranges. This system provides selectacble chamber pressures, temperature compensation and acceleration loadings on projectiles for enhanced hit probability and terminal ballistics. At a typical electrical input of 101 kJ from the plasma injection system, the gun accelerates a 8.4 kg projectile with a muzzle energy of 26 MJ and muzzle velocity of 2,500 m/s at sea level (Mach 7.55) at a propellant temperature of approximately 50°C. Using advanced penetrators, the cannon is capable of defeating a maximum of 2600 mm in rolled homogenous armour equivalent (RHAe) at a range of 4,500 m.

The G61A2 is a six-barreled 30mm gas-operated Gatling gun mounted coaxially to the M35A1 main gun. While the G61 is capable of fielding standard AP, API and APDS rounds present in the Aeon arsenal, recent advances in miniaturization afford this 30mm weapon the same capability of its larger cousin - the indigenously derived 42 x 348 mm rimless pre-programmable round. With this round in place, the gun fires short, 12 round bursts of high velocity rounds at a target. Every projectile is programmed by a muzzle based electromagnetic inductor, which sets an electronic timer to activate and separate the projectile into 125 heavy tungsten metal spin-stabilized sub-projectiles (3.3 gram each), forming a lethal cone shaped metal cloud per round with the capability to shred both light vehicles, infantry and fortifications.

The A1M7 also totes a high-angle breech loaded pre-programmable mortar. This weapon serves as an intermediate-ranged anti-personnel weapon with its counter-defilade capability afforded by its programmable nature. Potent 60 mm shells can rain down on anti-armor teams, defensive positions and light vehicles long before they fall prey to the much shorter ranged Remotely Operated 9.55mm Torrent Machine guns. While not a direct replacement for the 200mm howitzer option of the NDII Chaperone, the M252 is designed to work in tandem with such units on an armor platoon level to direct indirect fire support for friendly infantry action.

After a brief groundbreaking ceremony, work began on the first attempt within the Principality to achieve a lingering manned presence in space. The plains north of Itang, a noticeably flat and barren portion of the special administrative zone - a predominant eye sore compared to the major trade hub of Gambela to the East - would finally be put to use. With the navigable Baro river to the south scheduled to be utilized to ease construction of the Spaceport, prospects seemed high, architects and artisans optimistic on what the Itang project would bring.

Details were sparse about the project at large, with only a few details being released. Itang Port would be built to address a number of goals House Sidamo had for the Aeon space program, and the Ethiopian Administration Zone 1.

Provisions set in place by Avatar-of-War Marxon during the fall of the Kingdom of Cochin called for all potential enemy satellites to avoid Aeon territories lest they be destroyed. While Aeon, formerly Nodic satellite infrastructure has traditionally been respected due to the East African policy of 'Live and Let Live', Aeon war strategists refuse to allow an adversary's goodwill to be the only guard against destruction. While the provisional satellites launched into space during the war had not been tested, and inventories of said provisional systems had reached all-time highs during the war material frenzy, a new system was ushered in to complement existing units.

The 'Ash' satellite was the first of a new line of stealthy reconnaissance systems. Highly classified, these units would stay the course during wartime when other legacy systems, such as the Witness I, II and III programs were destroyed or otherwise rendered inoperable. Designed in every way to be superior to the Witness series, the 'Ash' has the same multi-purpose capability packaged in a comparatively smaller unit, while also incorporating highly classified optical and radar stealth characteristics. Provisions are being made to manufacture a similar run of Ash systems, with the Ash II being an armored, mobile unit, the Ash III a decentralized networking unit.

The Ash I or 'Ketchum' block would be analogous to the Witness I, save for two fundamental capability advantages. The first was the ability to deliberately deploy an onboard store of operational debris explosively, both to disguise its position from ASAT forces, or actively fool deployed ASAT systems into thinking their mission was an operational success. The second is the utilization of a deployable conical reflective balloon. This conical protrusion can be made rigid on exposure to ultraviolet radiation that can serve to lower the radar and optical signature of the satellite. Once deployed, the cone-shaped balloon could be steered to deflect incoming laser and microwave radar energy by sending it off into outer space. It can deflect both ground lasers and radar waves, while also hiding it from the plain eye.

While the Principality and its lackeys prided themselves on their 'peaceful' take over of the original Nodic state and aversion of a larger nuclear exchange, tried to remould the East African region into a land of artisans, farmers, nuns and hippies, its old adversary worked long and hard to not be forgotten. Beneath the surface, those who still remained faithful to the Nodic tenets of "[i]Brotherhood, Unity, Peace - Peace through Power[/i]", those that chose the long standing love of battle over mere philanthropy worked to prepare for a Grand Insurrection, a Great Uprising or Nodic Intifada - depending on those you asked - against their oppressors.

This resistance, headed by the Second Executive Minister (said to have declared herself merely the first Executive Minister reborn) worked towards rebuilding the Nodic state to the point at which it could regain lost territory, wipe out the Aeon infidels and free like-minded brothers and sisters from the veiled oppression of the Principality. A return to the old ways, they called it.

The fall of the original Nodic state came as it did to any great empire or nation - from within. While the greatest minds belonging to the resistance worked to piece together exactly how the vaunted Princess Sidamo managed such a swift and complete take-over of Nod from within Sidamo Province, general consensus held that once House Sidamo and its beloved Sovereign was eliminated, nearly all former citizens of Nod would return themselves back into the fold.


[b]"Slasher" Hypersonic Direct Attack Weapon (H-DAW)[/b]

Designed to act as a terminal stage directly, or a basis for multiple service spanning weapons systems, the Slasher is a formidable weapon designed to annihilate the enemy with its nigh unstoppable hit-to-kill power. Directly built upon captured LOSAT munitions employed throughout the former Nodic state and present Principality, the H-DAW is a smaller, lighter, faster and highly modular kinetic energy munition able to accept a variety of platforms to engage the full spectrum of available enemy targets, depending on the variant of delivery used in a given weapon.

In and of itself, the Slasher is a reliable anti-armor/anti-fortification munition. A hardened solid fuel rocket weighing in at 60 kg with a 1.5 m length, it is capable of flying at speeds exceeding mach 6 over a range of 8 km. Utilizing the entirety of its frame as well as a heavy metal hit-to-kill penetrator, the Slasher is a harder target for defense systems than conventional thin-skinned missiles due to its high hypersonic nature, short closing range, one-piece construction for thermal tolerance and incorrigible speeds. A H-DAW hit by an active defense system (a highly unlikely scenario, especially when facing last-ditch hard kill systems) can still kill (albeit with less efficiency) whether it hits its target head on, or askew by sheer force alone. Its comparative low-cost allows it to be barrage or volley fired to overwhelm more troublesome targets. It comes standard with either a dispersed aperture semi-active laser seeker or simple dumb fire, able to be overridden or simply omitted in more complex applications.


[b]"Chopper" Multi-Purpose Air Launched Munition (M-PALM)[/b]


Designed to be compatible with platforms utilizing the SIR-73, SIR-74AC air-to-air missiles as well as the SIR-73ER and SIR-74AC-ER booster configurations, the M-PALM is intended as an eventual replacement for the SIR missile line. Realistic projections given the current status of the Brotherhood as well as combat trials, however, seem to indicate that the M-PALM is a perfect complement to the SIR system and an ideal replacement for the aging SARAH-37 missile given a similar booster to the SIR-74AC-ER.

With an elongated and worked upon airframe based upon the Slasher, the M-PALM weighs in at 150 kg alone in both air and land-attack configurations based upon the multi-layered SIR-74AC guidance package, with similar size dimensions with an operational range of 40 km in a direct-fire set-up. While midcourse correction IS possible, it is only marginal. Tests have shown that the current air profile set up, a slow initial burn to orient the missile with its target, followed by a high impulse sprint of mach 6 is more than nominal to hit any manned aircraft before it can react physically.

Attaching the 200 kg SIR-X-ER booster to the M-PALM creates the M-PALM-ER system. This extended range system enjoys the hypersonic hit-to-kill potential of the Slasher terminal stage, a combined range of nearly 230 km and total weight of 350 kg. While the M-PALM-ER has almost half the range of the SARAH-37 it will replace, and requires an additional 50 kg anti-radiation seeker package should the sortie require such a weapon. These concessions were deemed permissible given the M-PALM-ER's greatly reduced weight with little to no effect on performance compared to the SARAH-37. It is seen as the ideal anti-superiority fighter weapon due to its characteristics - the 400 km range of the SARAH-37 would be a waste, as detection limitations of an enemy high performance stealth fighter would greatly reduce effective range anyways.


[b]"Cutter" Indirect Fire Munition (IFM)[/b]


Going in a different direction, the Cutter IFM is a surface-to-surface weapon system based on the H-DAW terminal stage, turning this hypersonic weapon into a tactical indirect fire solution in Nod's own networked battlefield. Intended to be a vertically launched weapon utilizing little more than a solid fuel rocket booster stage to shoot the H-DAW away from its platform, the Cutter affords much more flexibility to the otherwise dumb-fire or line-of-sight H-DAW system.

Over an absolute maximum range of 20 km (8km of the H-DAW with the potential 12 km afforded to it by the 40 kg smokeless rocket booster stage), the IFM can hit a variety of targets with its dual mode seeker system. The IFM starts by being launched at the urging of either its dispersed aperture semi-active laser seeker (a target or target-rich location is lased by a friendly unit), inertial navigation or fibre optic wire to silently (from an emissions perspective) guide itself to an arbitrary or otherwise provided location with midcourse updates if required.

An Electro-optical threat recognition guidance system, infrared / anti-radiation homing, or Semi-active laser homing terminal seeker takes over when a predetermined range has been reached and the booster and midcourse seeker have been discarded, guiding the primary H-DAW warhead to strike in a hypersonic top-down hit-to-kill profile. The IFM is a cost-effective, lethal system that affords lock-on after launch, fire and forget as well as an intelligent dumb fire capability if necessary. The Cutter can engage both heavy armor, and low-flying aircraft. If in the presence of active air-search and track radars, it can also be used as an ad hoc tactical air defense weapon in a semi-active homing configuration, using its onboard terminal seeker in a counter-counter measures role.

A major bid to revitalize stagnant military resources following the collapse of the Nodic Administration has begun in the Principality. All Nodic military hardware no longer used in the regular armed services of the Principality are to be shipped to the Tigray and Afar Northern Provinces - far enough from Aeon central jurisdiction to no longer be an eyesore in the views of the pacifist Aeon populace.

These Nodic machines, while older and 'inferior' to their newer Aeon counterparts, would be refurbished with modern Aeon electronics and EMP-proofing methods, along with advanced ETC cannon technologies. After this process was completed, these machines would be relegated to storage in underground vault locations. It would be the hope (or un-hope) that these machines would only need to be reactivated if the Aeon homeland came in dire needs.

In the meantime, 3D-manufacturing facilities such as the Yohannes IV complex and similar would be tasked with creating the refurbishment components needed for this initiative. The process of upgrading the thousands of Nodic Deathstalkers, Kriegs, Defenders, Devastators and other vehicles and equipment would take some time, but would be far more cost effective than creating newer equipment for homeland defense supplements.

The T1A4 is meant to take the Aeon from the present to the future and beyond - to the promised day the blessed warriors of East Africa are ordered by their beloved Princess to finally beat their spears into plowshares, render their war machines into terrible reminders of humanity's long gone darker days within museums. The Colossus is designed to pass the test of time, with the architects of its creation giving it the capability to accept Aeon upgrades as they arrive, up to and including:

Design:[/b] Like its predecessor the Devastator, the Colossus is a massive, heavily armed and armoured war machine designed to draw enemy fire from-, while offensively supporting more mobile combat elements within the Aeon Militancy. As such, the Colossus is an extremely heavy vehicle, worthy of the classification of Super-heavy. At a whopping 88.2 metric tons, the squat T1A4 supports a monstrous L43 155mm main offensive gun and large onboard complement of nearly 40 rounds, needing careful consideration placed in its design before coming off the drawing board.

The Colossus is powered by a high efficiency diesel-electric hybrid power plant - optimized for carrying the heavy load of the T1A4's chassis across steady speeds, rated at 2,800 hp. Its massive girth is supported by four armoured tracks, each greater than 50 centimetres wide, placed in parallel while loosely resembling a conventional tracked battle tank for comparatively reduced ground pressure - optimized for the plains, plateaus and valleys of the Aeon homeland. A quadruplex drive-by-wire control system slaves the Colossus to its relatively spacious 'common room' style fighting compartment. This D-B-W system allows the tank to rapidly change position in response to crew directives.

The four-man crew is housed in the hull in an armoured capsule in front of the power plant and underneath an armoured unmanned turret. With supplies and lavatory for 72 hours of combat operations, the crew's fighting compartment is built around the Commander's 'armoured couch' station in the center, before a shared combat situational holographic display. Each man has 8 LCD screens afforded to him as part of a complete 'glass' cockpit, providing data over the integrated combat network and by exterior hull and boom-mounted high-resolution Electro-optical sensors with light-intensification and infrared capability, an infrared laser rangefinder, and an integrated Electronic Support/Counter Measures (ES/CM) array. A fire control radar allows gun engagements on attack helicopters using air bursting rounds in the main gun, or direct fire from one of two Close-in Weapons System autocannons.

Onboard auxiliary power units supply the vehicle with energy while idling, power its ETC main gun ignition system when firing, and maintains internal electronics and communications round the clock. An electro-mechanical transmission is found on the Colossus. A mechanical transmission without contact between moving parts, the E-MT is based upon magnetic forces, prevents friction, wear as well as making lubrication a moot point. This E-MT is coupled with a hydro-pneumatic active suspension system and a multiple planet planetary gearbox - affording mobility, control and stability to the T1A4 when firing, especially on the move. This active suspension can afford a lower ground pressure in tandem with the wide track layout, by allowing the Colossus to manipulate its mobility at the expense of speed when necessary on unforgiving terrain. Able to adjust its suspensions' height, a T1A4 can intelligently lower itself to lay nearly flat against the ground, increasing surface area on weak terrain by using the hull of the tank itself - a necessary addition when operating in arid sands, or frigid tundra. On harder surfaces, it may raise its chassis to a more effective height for increased speeds on prepared surfaces and rocky plateaus.

Protection:[/b] The T1A4 Colossus affords a high degree of battlefield survivability, with high levels of crew protection coupled with full, 'buttoned up' situational awareness within a CBRN proofed fighting compartment. The standalone, multi-layered hull armour is enhanced by high performance passive armour segments made of modular ceramic composites and titanium alloys, impact deterring active and passive, hard and soft-kill systems and enough mobility for combat displacement and manoeuvres. An integrated electronics suite allows Colossi to automatically reconfigure the fire control and gun-laying systems, modulate sensor channels and manage vehicle and engine subroutines to overcome battle damage, malfunction and ensure multiple layers of operational redundancies.

The Colossus is powerfully built with a monocoque, wedge-shaped hull, sporting a relatively low visual profile with its sensor boom retracted. The T1A4's power plant is housed in the rear of the vehicle, with the armoured unmanned turret and thick track skirts to cocoon an armoured and spall-lined central fighting compartment behind space, armour and controlled deformation sections.

Operators are situated in specially designed hanging, collapse-able seats to protect against traumatic acceleration induced by severe concussive blows to the exterior of the vehicle. The compartment is CBRN compliant, with a combined overpressure, self-cleaning air filtration/conditioning unit and is covered with extensive EM protection in vital areas. Anti-mine protection is given by closed cell aluminum foam with titanium backing plate and spall liner, fashioned in a "V" or boat bottom shape to direct explosives to the front and rear of the hull safely. The main gun is of an autoloading nature, with ammunition stored in blow out compartments.

The passive armour composition on the T1A4 is designed to protect against a wide variety of ordinance using several tailor made armour compositions layered together in a comprehensive package.

The outermost layer is designed to defeat small to intermediate calibre weapons, explosive fragments and shrapnel. With the addition of an external add on RPG cage, this layer utilizes Exote armour plating backed with M5 (polyhydroquinone-diimidazopyridine) fibre and an air layer and is expected to absorb said rounds and fragments/shrapnel emitted by artillery shells and exploded RPGs. The Exote armour plate (essentially Titanium Carbide ceramic particles suspended in a RHA metallic matrix) is what absorbs or destroys oncoming small projectiles, while the M5 fibre prevents the hard metal particles from a destroyed projectile from penetrating further. Exote itself has an exceptionally high melting point, and endures acetylene, laser and plasma cutters. It is incombustible, non-toxic, rustproof and does not oxidize. As a whole, an Exote panel can be functionally graded so material characteristics can change – very hard on the impact side, softer for the liner side. It works by breaking up penetrators, spreading the energy of an individual hit over a larger area (roughly 20-30% larger than actual calibre) reducing the impact. Damage is kept to this area, while the rest of the armour plate remains protective, acting as superior multi-hit armour. The M5 fibre itself is a high-strength synthetic fibre, stronger than Aramid (Kevlar) and UHMWPE (Dyneema, Spectra) materials, while also being the most fire resistant organic fibre yet developed.

The main kinetic penetrator, shaped charge and explosive mitigation layers above hull material is a sandwich of its own, providing the majority of the Colossus' colossal weight. The turret, primary frontal armour glacis, hull front and top armour is designed to be the most rugged and intricate of the T1A4's armour.

The hard blocks composing this defense consists of thin layers of silicon carbide and Grade 5 titanium forming a shell lined internally and externally with reinforced high performance polyethylene to provide structural strength under extreme stress. The silicon carbide layers themselves are used to promote 'interface defeat' against kinetic energy penetrators. ID is a phenomenon observed when a hypervelocity object strikes a sufficiently hard ceramic. The projectile flattens its nose against the surface without penetrating for microseconds, with penetrator material 'squashing' across the face of the armor until the ceramic begins to fail. As soon as this happens, the penetrator continues through with its remaining kinetic energy – a considerable loss.

The interior of the shell created by the silicon carbide and titanium is filled with the ceramic-metallic titanium diboride. Suspended within the titanium diboride is a matrix of crescent shaped depleted uranium bars, which are coated in copper. Running length wise within the shell filler, they are designed to provide overlapping cover of the frontal arcs of protection at all normal direct fire strike angles anticipated in frontline combat. Armor components used in the armored side skirts and rear receive the least amount of DU for reduced weight, with those used on the glacis, mantlet, turret face and top of the hull receive the most. The ceramic-metal filler provides superior deformation of explosively formed penetrators and shaped charges, especially in conjunction with a secondary layer of identical composition. A layer of rubber is placed between both shells, intended to improve the armor's performance against shaped-charge jets like HEAT.

The twin layers of purpose built armor are backed by an Exote backing plate and M5 fibre spall liner. All in all, this layer above the hull is heavy, but provides protection against all firing arcs against a multitude of opponents.

The final protection of the Colossus is the hull itself. Almost entirely made of Aermet 100 alloy, with Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) used for weight reduction purposes and internal protective structures, the Colossi's natural bulk and heft would be simply the result of its extreme damage tolerance and structural integrity. M5 fibre spall lining is prevalent throughout the monocoque hull of the Colossus, especially within the titanium tub the crew resides in.

Aermet 100 alloy itself features high hardness and strength, and is also gifted with high ductility, allowing it to be the main structural component of the Colossus' hull. It proves itself in high strength, high fracture toughness, and stress corrosion, cracking and fatigue scenarios. Its strength does make it somewhat difficult to machine, even with the 3D manufacturing processes wide spread in other parts of its construction. Thus, each Colossus is unable to be built wholly in a nano-lathing environment. Instead, components are created in a number of 3D-M units dispersed in a single facility, being brought together at a later date. This, coupled with the Colossus' great expense ensures that only a few divisions worth of the T1A4 are employed in the NMC.

There are several hard- and soft-kill systems installed as a standard on the T1A4. [/b]

The Patron is an active system designed to disrupt enemy anti-tank guided weapons, be they laser, thermal or even electro-optically guided. It is comprised of an automatic aerosol grenade launching system that masks the tank from laser rangefinders, designators, as well as the optics of EO guided weapons systems should a lock-on be detected, and a modular laser system used to blind the laser guided or thermal seeking munitions that pass through. Several hardpoints exist for the Tanzanian Arms AN/AAQ-24 Directional Infrared Countermeasure (DIRCM) system, able to help the Patron engage large amounts of EO/IR guided threats inbound towards the T1A4.

The Guardian is an active-kill system designed to monitor incoming threats most likely to ignore, avoid or reject the Patron soft-kill system - typically direct fire from Kinetic Energy penetrators or top-attack guided weapons. It is programmed to intercept these threats at short range by detecting the launch signature of a missile or report of a tank gun. After detection, the system waits for confirmation of Patron engagement. If the threat continues, the Guardian designates an appropriate countermeasure launcher to fire a Magneto Hydrodynamic Explosive (MHE) based defeat mechanism to activate. The Guardian pre-programs the required magnetic field needed for optimal self forging penetrator disperal against the threat, typically a conical area 30 m out from the vehicle hull. Each MHE defeat munition is a small unitary block or tile – a network of these devices are placed throughout the surface of the hull at strategic positions in overlapping fields to ensure multi-threat defeats against the concerted efforts used by the enemy to destroy the vehicle.

Interception of long-ranged, heavy threats is done by a rapid-launch micro VLS missile system, the Derkhan, which is used to either destroy enemy munitions or knock them off course by using a focused blast warhead. Four launchers are integrated into either side of the turret side armors, providing protection against a number of threats in a dome shaped line of fire. The Derkhan can also be used to deploy Mini-Nulka Active Radar decoys, whose transmitters are able to hover over the battlefield for a time to project a displaced radar return, luring active radar weapons away.

Optional Protection (Purpose-built, Add-on Armor plating):[/b] The Colossus was designed with modularity, resistance and ease of maintenance, if not manufacturing. It is designed to accept any and all new advancements in armored warfare technology developed by the Principality and its allies.

[b][u]The 'Savior' Non-Explosive Reactive Armor (NERA) system[/u] [/b]adds several hundred millimeters of RHA equivalent to the Colossus with means that are safe to handle and pose no threat to accompanying infantry. Essentially comprised of two layers of composite plates sandwiching a highly elastic, inert liner, the Savior operates on concepts similar to explosive reactive armor, but lacks the explosive liner. When struck by a kinetic penetrator or shaped charge metal jet, impact energy is dissipated in the sandwich filler. The resulting high pressure within the elastic creates a localized bending or bulging of the armor plates in the area of impact. As these plates shift, the point of impact shifts with the plate, dissipating more penetrating energy across a wider surface, increasing the armor's effective thickness. The Savior system can be placed on nearly any part of the Colossus being as relatively light as it is and cannot be defeated by tandem warhead attacks.

In the Savior's case, synthetic polybutadiene is used as the filler and shifting material. A high resilience rubber with 80 percent elastic efficiency, this material only loses 20% of the stored energy after impact as heat, lessening both the post stress recovery of the elastic, and decreasing the amount of deformation leftover. This rubber is used to warp, bend or bulge Exote covered Aermet 100 plating, subjecting penetrators to transverse and shear forces, diminishing penetration, while shaped charge weapons lose their ability to focus on a single area of armor. The plates themselves are angled, and force penetrators and jets to bend in the direction the plate is facing, reducing impact and dissipating energy.

The turret front and sides are fitted with this wedge-shaped add-on armour in sections, which can easily be replaced by field workshops if hit or, at a later stage, be replaced by adequately supplied combat engineering facilities.

• Rubberized dust and radar skirt hung blow side-armor and track skirts to shield tracks and road wheels from direct targeting by the enemy.

[b]Target Acquisition: [/b]

All armaments are married to a stabilised turret, with full solution digital fire control and a network-enabled sensor fused suite allowing for greater accuracy at range, advanced threat detection and recognition as well as first round hit probability, the Colossus is adept at firing stationary or on the move.

The Colossus is designed with a fully integrated, network based approach to its Integrated Fire Control System (IFCS). It can track up to 18 stationary or mobile targets and engage 10 of them inside a 1 minute window while stationary or on the move with a great first round hit probability. The IFCS borrows features from the airborne (Target Acquisition System Software) utilized by the Air Militant Command, with an added emphasis towards terrestrial threats and low flying helicopters. Providing target recognition, threat prioritisation and automatic gun laying, it allows Colossus crews to engage the enemy at a moment's notice. The IFCS controls the numerous weapons of the Colossus, able to direct different systems towards separate targets.

Digital fire solutions are provided by an onboard ballistic computer for both the main gun and secondary ballistic systems, including target distance, azimuth and elevation supplied by hull or boom mounted laser range finders and LIDAR. Distance shots are calculated with respect to ambient temperature, humidity, air pressure and cross wind velocity.

The hull mounted Doppler LIDAR responsible for feeding data into the ballistic computer is mounted on an armored swivel mount above the turret mantlet – slaved to the main gun stabilization system. It along with its cousin aboard a retractable boom-mast has a number of functions including battlefield surveillance, obstacle detection, target acquisition, ranging and tracking, topographic mapping and wind profiling. Both can be cross referenced with the other and other sensor data to ensure the highest resistance to jamming attacks.

Primary sights are given to the Commander, Gunner and Weapons Officer – forming a team capable of searching, tracking and marking of targets while handing said target off to lay and fire the gun, direct the autocannons or launch a missile at the target. This sight is composed of a IR/EO staring array based on Nodic IIDU sensor technology, a highly sensitive system able to pick out stealthy IR targets amongst ambient radiation. Target recognition and acquisition is given by a multi-dimensions focal plane array (Electro-optical) with a high resolution TV-sensor and thermal imaging system. The system is capable of 20x optical zoom with an optical image stabilization. It is capable of all-weather day/night operation, and can perform its duties to ranges nearing 20 km. In times when fire control MUST be relegated to other sensory means, an onboard MMW radar, much less capable, but still effective in certain conditions, may be employed by the fire control system.

Sensor data as a whole is available to the Colossus via a network of multi-spectral input devices incorporating a wide variety of systems including the aforementioned IR/Electro-optical and LIDAR systems, as well as traditional laser and passive/active radar. It is also capable of interfacing with a number of off board surveillance, reconnaissance, targeting and threat detection and tracking systems. These sources of information greatly expand the capabilities of the T1A4, affording it the title of being the cornerstone of the NMC's offensive and defensive terrestrial force. Other friendly or allied vehicles and appropriately equipped infantry, multi-sensor unmanned outposts, aerial sensors including AWACS radar data and UAV reconnaissance units are able to paint a better picture of the state of affairs to Colossus tank crews, painting targets or announcing their presence to the vehicle.
This sensor-fused, networked system is capable of providing large amounts of data, even during high intensity conflict where the Colossus is considered 'buttoned-up'. This situational awareness, indirect vision system is essential in ensuring the Colossus' combat effectiveness under all conditions.

The colossus is equipped at all crew stations with feeds from several hull and boom mounted sensors. The boom itself, a telescoping construct that normally lays flat against the hull of the tank, is extended in times of crisis or when the tank is undergoing a hull-down state (hiding out of plain sight) in order to shield itself from detection, weapons impact, or safely deploy Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) weapons onboard. Extending up to 8 meters above the roof turret, this boom can 'peek' over obstacles, in defilades or while the tank is submerged. Atop the boom is a crow's nest of sensor input systems. The primary component of this boom is an advanced EO/IR 360 field of view , 85 degree vertical field optronic system. Composed of four arrays, each containing five-megapixel imagers, that fed an onboard processing and secure transmission system, the boom mount relays a single 360 degree panoramic view around the tank – available to all stations within the cockpit. An AN/ZPY-1 STARlite Small Tactical radar provides multiple radar modes including Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and 3D search, track and target information independent of the twin 30 mm 'Lancer' autocannons' own AESA systems. A LIDAR emission source, and LASER range finder completes the mount.

Around the hull, two forward and two rear wide angle all light cameras and five wide-angle cameras located at track skirt-level comprise an indirect vision system. These cameras have laser protected lenses and a mesh screen to protect them from mud, dirt and debris. Each camera provides a 60 degree field of view with overlapping fields of regard along with UV settings. This system proves invaluable when navigating choked off streets in intense urban warfare.

Armament:[/b] [u]M1943D1 FLARE ETC L43 155mm main cannon[/u]
The Colossus sports a colossal smoothbore main gun as its main armament. It is a large caliber, direct fire weapon in its primary usage, producing extremely high muzzle velocities and destructive energies. Sporting an ETC design similar to the M35A1 used on the A1M7 'Titan', the M1943 enjoys the same advantages its smaller cousin has over conventional guns. Ignition and combustion can be precisely controlled by varying the output of the electrothermal emission system, allowing for much more consistent firing and a significant increase in muzzle velocity. The ETC nature of the weapon, like its cousin, allows more insensitive propellants to be used by the gun, increasing survivability in the case of turret penetration. The barrel is nearly seven meters long, and is fitted by a fume extractor three fifths of the way from the barrel's base. The barrel itself consists of a ceramic liner, with an Aermet 100 alloy steel sheathe pressed over the liner. The barrel is further reinforced with carbon-fibre overlap in key stress zones, and an inbuilt cooling system placed between layers help mitigate the extreme pressures and heats associated with the massive cannon.

While the cannon itself is a formidable tank weapon in the conventional sense, a carefully designed mantlet capable of allowing the gun to elevate far higher than standard tanks normally do allows the Colossus to act as an artillery-tank (artank) hybrid. If the situation presents itself as needed, the Colossus can provide indirect fire support for adjacent units with its main gun, the ballistic computer doubling as an artillery gun laying apparatus. The lower ballistic trajectory lessens inaccuracies due to wind being less of a factor, and time to target is much faster than a howitzer or mortar. Firing at a much slower rate of fire than contemporary 155mm artillery units due to issues of recoil, and barrel wear, the M1943 D1 can fire purpose built versions of 155mm artillery ordinance including a wide variety of warhead payloads and guidance systems – all capable of accepting targets from the Colossus itself or friendly platforms. This capability increases the cost of the individual Colossus to an extent, with the greatest payment coming in the form of required maintenance after use. Nevertheless, this additional capability provides additional use to an otherwise formidable machine. No longer would artillery support fail to keep up with armored battalions – they would simply provide their own in a pinch.

[u]NMI G301 'Lancer' singled barreled, recoil operated autocannon[/u]

Twin 30 mm 'Lancer' autocannons provide the primary close-in weapons system for the Colossus. The guns are placed on high speed swivel mounts capable of a range of elevation between -4 to 85 degrees in a 360 arc, although pre-programmed 'no-go zones' are used to prevent the guns from firing on other protrusions present on the turret. Together, the weapons are capable of engaging individual targets or focused fire on a hard or uncooperative one. Primarily used against low flying aircraft, helicopters, inbound intermediate speed ordinance, light vehicles and infantry, the Lancers' combined multi-purpose munitions and dedicated targeting computers can deliver precise shells to a wide variety of targets while minimizing friendly fire.

The guns fire short, five-round bursts at targets with differing firing patterns to suit the targets (direct fire against surface and stationary air threats and electronically programmed airbursts in the path of high speed moving targets. The rate of fire is adequately increased for high speed threats like missiles or bombs.

The primary round utilized by the G301 separates via electronic timer into 108 heavy tungsten metal spin-stabilized sub-projectiles (3.3 gram each), forming a lethal cone shaped metal cloud with uses against light skinned targets like Mobility Vehicles, infantry, light cover, missile casings and aircraft. These projectiles are programmed by a muzzle based electromagnetic inductor, which sets an electronic timer to activate said projectiles.

Other rounds include high explosive and armor piercing discarding sabot rounds. Fire control is provided primarily by two AN/ZPY-1 STARlite Small Tactical radars, slaved one each to the G301's. In case of directed energy jamming, weapons are able to be cut off by the tank crew from the inside, and can be operated by other hull or boom mounted detection systems or even networked, friendly radars.

Enhanced Non-Line of Sight Light Attack system (ENLOSLA)[/u]

A derivative of the legacy Enhanced Fibre-Optic Guided Missile (EFOGM) currently in use by both mountain, and skirmishing contingents of East African militants, the ENLOSLA is a purpose built derivative designed for higher performance under the same dimensional restrictions the EFOGM had. Primarily an anti-tank/anti-fortification weapon, the ENLOSLA retains the EFOGM's multi-purpose utility in the face of anti-helicopter harassment/destruction duties.

The ENLOSLA is launched via short boosting rocket to approximately 200m , unspooling an unjammable high performance fibre-optic data link to transmit and receive command and sensor data with its firing unit to find and defeat threats masked behind hills, foliage, urban settings or simply out of the line of sight. At the appropriate range, the missile extends its fins and switches to turbofan powered flight. The fibre-optic nature of the ENLOSLA ensures that the weapon is unhindered by traditional jamming, combining a high resolution infrared video camera in the nose of the missile mounted on a gyro-stabilized dual axis mount with dispersed aperture laser seekers on the fins of the weapon. The images from the EO/IR camera in the nose of the missile are automatically transmitted through the cable to a firing station where they are analysed, processed and displayed to either or both the weapons officer or Commander. The spool enables the ENLOSLA to travel at a maximum range of 22 km (typical operating procedure puts its effective range at 20km) at speeds of mach 0.6.

The ENLOSLA is well suited to engaging tanks, armored fighting vehicles, fortifications, command posts, helicopters, coastal ships, bridges and troop concentrations with its 30 kg SHS warhead. Its low flight path and relatively small firing signature and radar cross section allows the weapon to skirt beneath most tactical air defenses in a furtive attack. It is capable of full real-time control and allows for a single operation station to guide two missiles in flight simultaneously. With two stations onboard the Colossus, four intelligent artillery shots can be in flight at a time.

With a penetration rating approaching 1,000 mm RHA, the ENLOSLA is able to severely damage enemy armor, likely resulting in a kill while also being fired without revealing the location of the Colossus unit. The ENLOSLA retains an extremely short range active radar jammer, activated in terminal flight, allowing it to bypass the typical MMW and other radar frequencies commonly used in widely proliferated Active Protection Systems.
