VigilantWatcher
Classified Three Hundred Miles north-east of Bangui A secret military complex codenamed Viper Base had been created for the West African Republic Military's Black Projects. The first project to start at the base was the attempt to build nuclear weapons. The enrichment of the uranium to create uranium 235 was well under way with a few pounds of uranium 235 already stockpiled. This would be done through a Gas Centrifuge. A Gas Centrifuge is a device that performs isotope separation of gases. A centrifuge relies on the principles of centripetal force accelerating molecules so that particles of different masses are physically separated in a gradient along the radius of a rotating container. A prominent use of gas centrifuges is for the separation of uranium 235 from uranium 238. A fission reactor was also under construction to create the fission reactions and covert the uranium into plutonium 239 for the test bomb. VigilantWatcher
Classified Central African Republic Province In the eastern part, part of the area had been sealed off for the first West African Military Exercise which was taking place. The enemy would be made up of all the equipment displaced from active service. The exercise would give the West African Military High Command a chance to gauge the ability of the West African Military. The exercise was made up of two lines of defence and a final objective of an enemy camp. The enemy would be designated as a "unknown hostile invading army". The exercise would not go within one hundred miles of the border. 04:00 Hours Local Operation Savannah began with the West African Air Force launching an air campaign against the "enemy" airfields and ground forces inside the exercise area. The first wave consisting of Tu-22M3 "Backfire C" Strategic Bombers attacked the airfields with AGM-154B Joint Standoff Weapons, destroying twenty MiG-29M2 "Super Fulcrum" Multi-role Fighters and sixteen Su-30MKI Multi-role Fighters, plus damaging eighteen Tu-95MS "Bear H" Strategic Bombers. The second wave of twenty F/A-66 "Phoenix" Lightweight Multi-role Fighters attacked the first line of defences using AGM-65 Maverick Air to Ground Missiles destroying sixteen BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles and thirteen BTR-80 Armoured Personnel Carriers. A further attack of ten F-16F "Fighting Falcon" Multi-role Fighters dropping Mark 83 1000 Pound Bombs blasted seven T-72A Main Battle Tanks and disabled nine Buk-M2 Self Propelled AA Weapons. The final air attack of the day came from three B-52H Stratofortress Strategic Bombers attacking the remaining intact airfield, dropping their loads of thirty Mark 83 1000 Pound Bombs and twenty GBU-24 Paveway III 2000 Pound Bunker Buster Bombs. The resulting damage knocked out the airfield, destroying the remainder of the enemy aircraft and eliminating the enemy air force as a threat. Its purpose would be to provide the West African Republic's long range nuclear deterrent. The first test missile was now under construction, while the first nuclear test was about to begin. Viper Base Nuclear Test Site Two B-52H Stratofortress Strategic Bombers droned overhead, armed with the test devices. As they approached the first target, the first bomber dropped the uranium test bomb and swung away. Seconds later the device exploded, sending a small mushroom cloud upwards. The flash incinerated the mock target while the shock wave blasted several trees near the site down. The second B-52H carrying the slightly more powerful two hundred kiloton plutonium bomb approached to the east of the first blast to avoid being caught in the mushroom cloud before dropping its bomb. The aircraft pitched to the right and raced south. The bomb exploded with a even greater flash and blast wave, causing more damage to the second target. The first shots on the defence line were from the 1st Regiment's eighteen Hummel 150mm Self Propelled Guns which began falling on the positions. The advance had captured the three enemy airfields which were quickly brought back into use, plus the last positions of the second defence line which had long been bypassed by the advance. The West African Army would now regroup to rest and resupply. The West African Army had learned so much about itself, finding that the Infantry Divisions were not very mobile. VigilantWatcher
Classified Viper Base 09:30 Hours Local The launch countdown had begun. The target was only a short distance away consisting of a dug in area to contain the blast which would inevitably cause significant radiation. With the final checks complete, the final ten seconds counted down, with the missile finally launching up into the sky with its payload. Minutes later it had flown into Equatorial Guinea Province, as the missile had gone through its stages leaving the warhead free falling on a guided trajectory to the target zone. As it approached the warhead went into its final dive. Then as the warhead fell below the rim of the dug in area, it detonated. The flash scorched the edges around the pit and and the blast wave blasted the earth around ground zero into the air. The huge mushroom cloud that then erupted could be seen for miles, although the dug in area had contained most of the resulting radiation. The dug in area was however completely irradiated and would be for some time, although radiation levels were confined to the immediate area. Now, production of the missiles and the warheads could begin. --------------------------------------------------- Central African Republic Province Operation Savannah Day Six The enemy camp had been subjected to artillery and air attack during the night before finally infantry supported by armour stormed the fortifications, clearing them out one by one. VigilantWatcher
Classified The West African Republic's first Military Satellite WAR-1 and a Civilian Satellite named XB-4 One on top of separate rockets at the main launch facility fourty miles north east of Douala. WAR-1 was a Reconnaissance Satellite for High Resolution Photography (IMINT), Measurement and Signature Intelligence(MASINT), Communications Eavesdropping (SIGINT), Covert Communications and Detection of Missile Launches. XB-4 was a communications and navigational satellite for use by the West African People. It would provide internet and satellite television plus Global Position System navigation for the planned introduction of satellite navigation devices for vehicles and also for air traffic control. At around six am local time, both satellites were launched into Medium Level Orbit and they began immediately operation. WAR-1 immediately spotted the current situation in Europe, giving the West African Government a chance to see what was going on. Public Upgrading of major roads had been completed. Road accidents had dropped by 200% and the number of deaths through road accidents had dropped significantly in consequence.
