Read up about.. 8 posts, I think I summarized both sides fairly accurately. While I fought as a clueless indy at the time against the NPO (so I have that perspective) I can still tell you why the NPO fought and why they refer to it as the Great Patriotic War not Great War 1 like everyone else... and I agree with that view as well, it truly was them vs the world, and they held the world at bay... which is a testament to their relative power at that time.

No single alliance today could hold the rest of CN at bay now.... which is more a credit to how much the game has grown not to how much the NPO has lost power... but at that point in history the NPO was deemed "unbeatable" which is why everyone fought, they thought if they didn't defeat them then... CN would forever be under an NPO rule (which of course was hogwash, growth of the game would have eventually negated their relative power, but meh, it was a fun time )

Yeah, your post was pretty awesome. There were a couple others as well, but that was it.

Everything is based on subjective opinions here isn't it?

Only difference between me and you in that regard is that I actually witnessed it all and can judge from memory and experience while you by hear say and what others relayed to you in their own subjective view, second hand opinion.

Ill debate opinions with those who were there, thank you. Because it was one of those things you can really judge if you were there.

Trust me, I know enough about the war to say that there were just too many opinions. Truly, the victors's version of history will be the only correct side. Unless you've read "A history of CN".

There's a lot of bias and misinformation for both sides in this thread. It seems impossible to have an argument without using your alliances' or your former alliance's propaganda in it.

I fought for NPO in that war and would do it all over again.

We stood for what was right and it was one of the most shinning moments of NPO ever.

That's really matter of opinion.

As for myself, I wish I was around for the Great War, however I wasn't. I probably would have fought for GGA or GATO. Maybe only because they were winning, or for personal reasons.
