It's a very peculiar day in RL history

OBR becoming an "warring" alliance after being one of the few that never dabbled with our rough politics is much more surprising than the GOONS return. I always though the GOONS would come back one day because that's the way they roll. Most DoW are never until after the strike has come. It takes away the element of surprise and its always been that way. I remember GWIII, the DoW on GATO didn't come till about 15 minutes till after the update.

One side may go nuclear and I don't think any size warchest could withstand a 5 GRL combined with constant anarchy whether it be NPO, Sparta, MK, or who ever else jumps in.... with the exception of the Grams, their warchests I've heard are in the billions and could survive for 22.568 years

Can I expect some stats on this war that appears to be going on?

First point, UJP was outnumbered a minimal 2:1 in NS and nations. Even if they had perfect coordination, there is nothing that could have delivered a more sounding blow than all the bandwaggoners that hopped on. Second point, yes its a world war, but it lasted just over a week and no damage was done to one side with the exception of the NpO. (~ actually grew 1,000,000 NS by the end of the war)

continuing on from what I was saying, a Great War is considered a Great War by a majority of the community after the fact. Sure pockets refer to UJW as GWIV and WoC as GWV, but the large majority refer to them by their voted on name. If a war does match the scale of I-III then it will probably become GWIV, but I believe that is very unlikely.

As a person who has witness 4/5 major CN wars, I can say for certain that there have only been 3 Great Wars. Now one will always ask, why aren't UJW or WoC a great war? Well first of all they weren't as "great." They lacked the nature which had made up I, II, and III. No, the LUE-Orders battle was not what defined them, but rather it was a series of instances. It is perhaps easier to say what doesn't make up a Great War. First of all I want to remove the War of Coalition. The WoC was a series of wars all fought at the same time making it appear bigger than it was. When removing that conflict, it leaves us with I, II, III, and the UJW. Now on to the reasoning the UJW is not a GW. First, the UJW was lopsided. Within the first few days of the war, NpO's coalition had grown into a large handful of bandwagoners, and though not as coordinated as the UJP, NpO's coalition had much larger numbers than that of UJP. Second, the ending sucked. OOC attacks ended the war with the departure of \m/ and Genmay and suddenly the entire UJP collapsed like a house of cards. More to come....

While wandering the CN Wiki today, I stumbled across the old timeline of CN wars. I thus went to work on creating a better version and improving it and found a website that is perfect for such endevours. The potential conflict won't be labeled a GW unless it matches I-III in intensity and awesomeness. The UJW will never be considered a GW because it lacked a strong ending. The War of Coalition lacked two sides, (see Philo's post http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=31861 ) It was a war of sheer numbers yes, but did not have the two clear cut sides I-III and even the UJW had. Because the Treaty Web is dead, let's see if we can guess the two sides and the reason that would bring them to fight?

As ambassador to Sparta from the Legion, I will make the following statement:

Soon my friend soon, I am currently on a surprise vacation making me not only very far away from my computer with my program that I run the tourney with, but also from organizing this in general, not only that but I may miss my Man Utd match this week All that aside, I should have everything ready for friday, signups will remain open until then. For those who have pm'd me about running federations, I will contact you after the World Cup, so we can develop footy more on Planet Bob, until then I will run this tourney solo, and for that I apologize. Anyone else waiting for the world rankings, wait till friday. Also to address some people's pms about "potential war." If war were to occur during the Cup, the games will be delayed. As a final note: friday, FIFOB will be opening the bid for the host nation/alliance for the World Cup. They basically get attention by name recognition (The FIFOB World Cup at blahdiblah) and control the stadium naming, capacity, and really just some RP stuff.
