Attacking your whole bloc was one of the possible methods of achiving the goal of senate control. As it turned out, a few sanctions and one actual war was enough.
For the record, I don't know whether your bloc would have been attacked if applied measures were not enough. My point was simply that what was done was very lenient compared to (for example) full scale war.
