  1. I'm thinking that the current war is actually Judgment Day, and anything that occurs after JD is just postscript; a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I don't think NPO will immediately turn on IRON after this war. This war is not going to be small potatoes, with all the nukes in the air, and both alliances will take their time to rebuild. So at least 24 months before any significant aggression occurs.

Of course, I'm still expecting IRON v NPO to occur around December 2012.

Btw, Coursca, if you're still reading this thread; VP seems to have a different conception of self-interest than other nations. It cannot be defined as neo-realist since it does not emphasize survival as a paramount goal; that is, there are other more important reasons for national actions. Talking to VP theorists, we agreed that the goal of individual nations is to have fun, and to exist in an NPO-dominated power structure makes it difficult to achieve this goal. Sure, there are players who enjoy o/ NPO and the occassional routing of inferior alliances, but this is but a subset of the group of players.

  2. Since IRON has close relations with almost all of the major alliances, it will take a significant amount of time for NPO to marginalize IRON.

It's not a given that NPO and IRON MUST go to war. As time approaches infinity, what certain players have termed "irrational" factors will come into fore and that IRON and NPO will go to loggerheads. However, this is a purely as time approaches infinity thing. Cyber Nations could be dead by that time; !@#$%* 2 is coming out, and the coming peace will be very boring for all nations involved.

As time approaches infinity, all things will fade. But will the world fade before the alliances fade, or will the alliances fade before the world fades?

  3. In this thread we list all the nukes that have been known to be fired, then tally up the total nuclear wreckage at the end of the war.

MK is planning to launch all their nukes as their alliance is wrecked by 1v, so at least post your nukes as they're fired.

  4. I guess it's just not Operation August Storm until NPO and IRON show up and slaughter NpO.

The real August Storm was a slaughter. What's going on right now seems fairly even; with NpO outstrengthing Valhalla and GGA by 12.5%.

  5. The main attraction of joining IRON is that I presume they'd send me some cash aid from one of their titan players, about 10% of their daily income, but enough for me to raise my infrastructure to adequate levels. Being 47th percentile after a month of cash-assisted play is deeply unsatisfying.

  6. In my experience; alliance recruitment boards tend to be quite dead. Or at the very least, they're not as flooded as the main boards. Here, we'd have more players and thus more varied responses. I'd really like to know what I'm getting into before I make the jump; joining an alliance under massive attack is almost always ill-advised.

  7. I think I have an effective invitation from HoG right now, and I'm considering taking them up. The main advantage is that they're peaceful; for the next few months I don't plan to be involved in warfare. I assume they're also quite potent, but I don't have any information on this kind of stuff.

  8. Yes, I'm that Grahf. RBA started up in a new area, and while I do feel ties of loyalty to RBA, they're not serious about playing and winning. I'm perfectly willing to defect, provided you'd allow me to aid my ex-alliance members when necessary.

And what is my point of negotiation with regard to HoG? I can't fight back at all, they can do whatever they want with me. Unless I have some way to hurt them, to make myself not worth attacking and killing, I can't forsee LordBlanchard backing off.

    12AM EST update:

-HoG just pulled out. Their minister of war with quite nice to me and gave me a lot of advice, and in the future, I'll have to repay their kindness.

More or less more of the same up to about 8, and they're all defeats. If anyone wants to get back at the Fellowship of Unified Nations, I will die for your cause.

I pumped $40 in this game and I want some dividends. If nothing else, I want to see them suffer.
