  1. NPO will lose.

I grovel in fear of your incredible insight. I never would have known this before you stated it here, that somehow the NPO will be defeated by an alliance only 1/8th of their size in NS and even less in infrastructure who are primarily in peace mode. I suppose I should just surrender right now and get it over with!

  2. Sad? We're cleaning up a mess of an alliance with more nukes than brains. Certainly it would take some time to recover from that. FAN might not have been smart, but they do know how to fight.

But since you feel so strongly about how "worn out" we are, why don't you come get us, tough guy? ;)

A war with yet another alliance? Wouldn't that technically be considered a suicide attempt on the part of GOONS if they tried that?

  3. The alliances on your side act serious and honorable and whatnot, but it's really just RP'ing with no basis in what you actually do. On the reverse hand, we often act as if we're silly and irresponsible, but we do what's right by our fellow alliances. We always have.

You should stop making official (treaties, documents, whatever) just to break them. It makes you look bad.

I certainly don't see how alliance like ODN, NoV, MCXA, etc. have broken their treaties. It looks like they've upheld them pretty well considering the situation it puts them in. And as for NPO, we've certainly made an effort to honor our treaties probably more than any alliance has, and that includes giving fair notice that we're pulling out of them, and even though the terms of that expired yesterday, we still have not declared war on GOONS, because we do have quite a history of being allied with them, even though I'd say a very large portion of Pacificans really dislike them, especially now.

On the other hand, I'd say almost anybody outside of UJP has a reason why \m/ "looks bad".

  4. All I can say is lol, FAN. If they had any common sense, they'd pull out of that dying shell of an alliance and get a good one. But instead they keep trying to find ways to somehow win a war with only ZI'd and peace mode nations, and this GOLD thing was just another desperate attempt.

  5. El Bruc: You're complaining about this...why? You're in an alliance that uses nukes freely, you're going to get nuked. This was a statement that several allies of the New Polar Order would not escalate our side into nuclear warfare unless provoked. Now that you're being turned into a mushroom cloud crater, you're looking to pick out some technicality as if this meant that your side will somehow, magically become more popular and you'll win. Hey look, we're going to Candy Mountain!

  6. What allience were you in your first 6 months?

    I've always been in HoG.

The Euphorian Commonwealth. :P Considering there was more top government than active members, that alliance never went very far. Considering I started on Purple, though, I could have ended up in Legion. Oh the horror!

  7. I may not love the Legion, but at least they had the sense to find their way to the right side if they were going to be in this conflict. You guys had ample time to put yourselves in a better situation, and I'd say you failed by going this path.

    Memento mori, Valhalla.

  8. Yeah, totally. And we all make mistakes about past alliances, man. Just look at me. I was GATO for my first five months!

    -J8

Go ahead. Ask me what alliance I was part of for my first six months. It's one you probably never heard of.

Also, has this discussion gone off the topic or what? OOC: LOCK TIME, perhaps?

  9. Except it's MDC. If I ever had any intention of surrendering for God-knows-what reason, it'd be to an honorable and not pathetic competitor.

I'd say MDC is not only an honorable competitor, but a sexy, made of win one, as well. I don't know how you guys could pass up this generous offer!

  10. Generous terms if you ask me. Well maybe not the 50 tech part for nations under 4,000 NS, but the rest of it seems reasonable considering there's no changing teams, shame in the nation bio, destroying wonders or improvements demanded at all. I'd go for this if I were you, TPF nations.

  11. Personally I like the approach of the Optional Defense Pact, although the name implies that there's really no reason to activate it. These sort of treaties give alliances a better opportunity to assess whether they want to be involved or not.

Another important issue to realise is that very few really take into consideration that they might be drawn into a war they don't really want, just to have some friends in the Cyberverse. That sort of thing doesn't usually build a bond of trust, and often those treaties are the first to go as soon a real war breaks out. In a sense, they're bluff treaties.

I'd also like to see more treaties with certain exception clauses. If I was in charge of an alliance, I would absolutely not sign any mutual military action treaty that requires a declaration of war on someone who we had an NAP signed with. Because upholding treaties is an important part of honor, and breaking one for the other is the major reason The Legion has been so disliked.

  12. This is failure on quite a grand scale. It shows that you're unwilling to uphold your agreements, and all for what? Because you're afraid of losing some infrastructure in your nations? By losing your friendships with GATO and NTO, I think you've lost quite a bit more, and have created a long-term obstacle for yourselves. Whatever the future of the brown trading sphere holds, I don't see that -AiD- will play a large part in it.
