  1. Ragnarok is pleased to announce the signing of a PIAT with our friends at R.O.C.K.. Come on. You know it HAD to happen. ;)

    The Treaty Made of Ro©k.

    A Ragnarok-R.O.C.K. PIAT

    Preamble

This treaty, between R.O.C.K. and Ragnarok,is signed with the intention of further ensuring the safety, security and prosperity of the members of each alliance. It will also serve as a symbol of the friendship and loyalty between the two signatory alliances and the joint decision to become close friends and show mutual respect and friendship.

    Article I: Sovereignty

It will be understood that both signatories shall remain sovereign and independent organizations and shall not be governed by the other party. They shall remain separate unless stated in another treaty. Either organization taking any action against other entities not included in this agreement does so without implication of the other signatory.

    Article II: Non-Aggression

No member of either signatory may engage in, support, or condone military action against a member within either signatory. If a member nation of either signatory is found to have done this, they will be ordered to offer peace within 24 hours of the initial notification, and pay reparations equivalent to the total damages inflicted.

This payment of reparations may not take place if doing so would be in violation of any other treaty, document or instrument of surrender unless freely disregarded by both signatories. Defending nations are required to limit retaliation to the number and type of attacks received.

If the attacking nation refuses to offer peace to the defending nation within the specified time frame, without credible reason explaining the lack of compliance to the articles of this treaty, the attacking nation will be expelled from their alliance. Further, the expelled nation is to be considered a rogue by both signatories, and dealt with accordingly.

Furthermore, both signatories shall endeavor to assist each other in the identification and administered justice of discovered spies and AA ghosts.

    Article III: Espionage

Both signatories agree that under no circumstances shall either signatory alliance engage in espionage against the other by any means, such as deceit or coercion, among others. Furthermore, should a signatory receive information that points towards a possible leak in another signatory's security, this information must be shared and discussed immediately.

Should a member of a signatory be found to have engaged in espionage, that member shall be immediately expelled and considered rouge by both signatories. The offended signatory shall also have the option of canceling this treaty due to breach of terms.

    Article IV: Civility

The members of each signatory will commit to remaining civil towards each other at all times, particularly in public channels, but also in private channels.

Any incivility is to be reported to the leaders of the offending member's alliance, at which time that alliance may discipline their member as they see fit.

    Article V: Aid

In case of a conflict involving an attack on a signatory alliance by a third party, the attacked alliance may request aid, either financial, military, or technological. The requested alliance, while not obligated to, is strongly encouraged to send available aid. This article can be enacted by the leadership of either alliance.

Legitimate requests for assistance include, but are not limited to: rogue attacks, both conventional and nuclear; wars, both large and small scale.

Such aid must be within the limits of reality, and not without reason. An acceptable reason must be stated, or the requested aid will not be given. Also, aid requests may be rejected, though the other party must have a valid reason. Any aid requests made under false pretenses shall be viewed as a breach of this treaty.

Member nations of either alliance may not offer foreign aid to nations engaged in war with the other alliance. Any nation that offers such aid must make arrangements for an offer of foreign aid to the other party, equal to 150% of the original aid to the enemy nation, to be paid after said war is resolved.

The signatory that has been requested to provide assistance has 72 hours to either approve or deny the request. This article may not be enacted if it would be in violation of any other signed treaty, document or instrument of surrender.

Aid can be given to the other party, even if it breaches an NAP. This treaty overrules all NAP's.

Furthermore, should either party take any action, aggressive or defensive, against any alliance or nation not signatory to this treaty, the other party is under no obligation to support or participate, unless so required under other agreements. Should the alliance fail to complete initial goals, they may request the aid of the other signatory, though that signatory is under no obligation to honor such request and may deny such request as they see fit.

    Article VI: Intelligence

Neither signatory alliance shall withhold information from the other signatory alliance that constitutes a direct threat to the security or well-being of the other signatory alliance. Both signatories shall strive to keep the each other informed of threatening situations as often as possible.

It is agreed that this information shall not be falsified, or changed in any way, to mislead the other party. Such falsifications shall be regarded as a breach of terms and may result in this treaty being voided.

    Article VII: Team Senate

Should either signatory achieve the position of senator(s) in their respective team, both signatories agree not to sanction members of the other signatory. However, such sanctions may be placed against nations declared rogues by both alliances.

    Article VIII: Termination

Termination of this pact requires a 48 hour Notice of Intent to Terminate. Any intentional or planned violations of the articles within this treaty shall result in the treaty being considered immediately void, unless otherwise agreed upon by the leadership of both signatories.

The 48 hours notice period of termination will not begin until both signatories have confirmed that they are aware of the cancellation.

At the moment of the termination of this treaty, there will be a 72 hour grace period, during which neither party may breach any of the above listed terms.

    Article IX: Superseding Treaties

Any newly agreed upon treaty by both signatories (besides a NAP), such as a TOA, MDP, or MADP will supersede this treaty, thus automatically canceling it, bypassing the 48 hour Termination Article and clause, and replacing it with the new treaty.

  2. One more thing: Don't underestimate the workload of making an alliance actually work.

As a rank and file member its hard to appreciate how much the people above you do to make things run smoothly. ESPECIALLY in the first days. I might go as far as to say don't launch your own alliance until you can get some kind of leadership role in a major alliance first to get a taste...but thats not always realistic. Its ideal, though.

^This. A lot of other things too of course, but this above all. It sounds like a lot of fun and for the most part it is. But it takes a lot of hard work and dedication if you're going to be even moderately successful.

    Word.
