The Belorussian military, sitting at high alert, would be twiddling their thumbs and wondering when something would happen. A few Polacks who may or may not have been stirring up trouble would be quietly arrested, to relieve the boredom.

Due to the ongoing shitfest in France, the Belorussian military would go to high alert and do high alerty things. Other than that, most people would just wonder why the world seemed to awfully quiet, but some hoped that it would stay that way.

  5. Alright, given now is just as good a day to do this as in two days, I wanted to state that I'm going to retire from CNRP, de facto now, de jure at the end of my term as GM, so in four days time. Just in time to finish the polls and all. As soon as there is a new GM court, the mapmaker can take my nation off the map.

It has been an interesting time, with quite a bit of fun at times. To say it was always fun would be a lie, it wasn't and often it felt frustrating or even infuriating. But I kept RPing, because even if there are bad times, I did not feel like just giving up and if I managed to later achieve good times, it just felt like more of an accomplishment. People say RP should be fun, if you don't have fun, don't RP. So maybe such people will tell me that I was dumb to stay when I was more suffering than enjoying this. But I don't regret it and that's what matters to me.

The reason I quit now is not so much what is going on in the RP (it does contribute some), but that over the last few months already, I had a feeling that I don't really have much to RP for and not much that motivates me to improve myself. My latest post up there on Kankou made me once again realise that Kankou is gone and most likely will not return. Which makes me genuinely sad, given there's hardly anyone in CNRP I felt so much respect and admiration for. During my first few years, Kankou was around for me, regardless of what I did and helped me a great deal. She may not have taught me that much on technical matters, but it is in no minor part due to her role model that I tried to persevere and to fundamentally be a nice person to people (even though noone will say I was a particularly social person). If there is one thing I do find regrettable in CNRP, it is that during all the time Kankou was around, I was mostly unable to help her and when I became somewhat capable, she was already gone.

I tried in the last few months to find a way to just act on my own, but honestly, I can't find it. I feel like overall, my time has passed and I am becoming ever more a person that lives in the past and has no present nor a future in the RP. I don't expect people to understand my sentiments, I learned that people seldom do. But if I were to use an analogy of my IC nation, I feel a bit like a rōnin, being left without purpose now that Kankou is gone. Even if I put more effort into Japan, I don't feel like there's much of a point to it.

Also, of course I also miss Shammy, Tanis and even MGL, who were fun people (in decreasing order) and taught me a lot. It is sad to see them gone (also that I never got to have an equal fight with MGL). Naturally I miss Horo, though more as a person than as an RPer and in contrast to all the others, I do actually talk to him occassionally outside the RP.

Next, I thank Triyun for the last year or so and for the things he taught me, be it through his actual advice, through the occassional paper he posted in the channel or merely because for years he created a necessity to learn to defend myself at least to some degree.

Lastly, of those still present I thank PD, for our character RPs in the past, Mr Director, for being a respectable ally and Kevz, just because. Together with some more who already left, it's been you people who maybe didn't teach me anything about fighting or politics, but who engaged in character RP with me (ok, Mr Director is not a person of great stories, but still fun) and added a dimension to the RP that kind of allowed to get through the darker times. Because even if I was occupied or just trying to stay unnoticed in Faraway, characters can turn some misery into fun. And really, character RP has declined, which just adds to my frustration, as apart from diplomacy, all I do is write for myself.

And a word of respect for Melech. I RPed not too much with him, he may have spent a lot of time on the other side and I absolutely hate Pasirung, but he is deserving of some respect for being a friendly individual that has little ambition besides just enjoying his time. While I'd be unable to stand being a useless vassal, he still has some admirable qualities.

Really now, as a last thing, there has been some RL motivation for this, as I'm feeling an increased need to focus on other things, but I think I can't claim I'd never have found the time (mostly because I use my free time here instead of playing video games). So, most likely I'll still be on IRC, though you with as talkative and sociable an attitude as ever.

  6. I've been lurking on and off for a long while, more in the past than now, and I'm kind of interested/debating in joining in the fun. Does anyone have a history of the CNRP world linked somewhere so I can catch up on any established fluff/lore? Or is there none except the whole "death of Old Earth/beginning of Planet Bob" scenario?

    First, there was darkness.

    Then, there was me.

I dunno what happens in the middle, but its probably all unimportant stuff :P

Not all of the former DPRK military had remained loyal. Some had found a trade that was more profitable than slaying imperialists.

Banditry had returned to Korea, as a number of DPRK units decided there really wasn't any point in heading to the communist rendezvous. These units had decided to use their weapons and skills to raid small, remote northern villages for anything of value. These groups were relatively small and lightly armed, and would rarely come out on the right end of an engagement with the KDF. But they weren't looking to start such an engagement. They stuck to areas that had little economic value and no foreign workers, so as to avoid garnering attention, attention that would force Seoul's hand.

One such group, lead by In Ji Seon, had become increasingly bold, and large. Instead of sticking to the mountainous north. it would begin hitting targets further south. One fine afternoon, Seon and his men, armed with AK-47s, would ride into a tiny fishing village on Korea's northeastern coast. They would ransack the area, and as per standard operating procedure, attempt to disappear.

Only, they would run into a small problem, in the form of a KDF Ah-1 Cobra that had been patrolling the area, keeping an eye out for communist rebels. The helicopter would notice the bandits setting several houses alight as they exited the village, and open fire. Seon and his men would suddenly find their vehicles under fire from the helicopter's 20mm gun and Hydra rockets. Seon himself would survive, but many of his men would be killed. The survivors would leave the trucks and flee for what cover there was. The KDF would dispatch some troops to search the area, but by then, the marauders would be gone.

Seon and the survivors would, by pure chance, find themselves fleeing in the general direction of where the communist forces had camped out in North Hamgyong.

Japanese agents keeping an eye on the popular opinion would find that further North one went in the Korean Peninsula, the more apathetic the popular opinion got. While these people were hardly supportive of the DPRK, they really weren't a whole lot interested in the newly created Republic either. It really came down to whoever made sure that they got food and jobs. However, as one went further South, the populace became increasingly supportive of the new government.

    North Hamgyong Province

The meeting was not going as Yong had hoped. The various factions had slowly formed into three groups. One was lead by a former military general, Hyon Yong-chol, who advocated immediately launching an insurgency to overthrow the new government and bring about the Communist return. The other group was lead by Ri Chun-su, the former head of the State Security Department, and possibly the highest ranking communist official that was still out of prison. His faction wished to set up bases outside of Korea, say, in the nearby "White Space" Russia, from where they could launch strikes against Tianxia, Japan, Korea, and if necessary, Russia.

And then, there was a third group, which Yong was a part of. This group consisted of the factional leaders who had chosen to remain neutral in the ongoing struggle between Hyon and Ri.

It was clear, to Yong, that this meeting had reached a deadlock, and that something needed to be done.

"If I may speak," he said, "I think I have a suggestion that could satisfy both sides here. As things currently stand, we have no way to get to the "White Zone" of Russia, as all of the land routes are controlled by Tianxia. That being said, keeping all of our forces to fight within Korea seems risky. I'd say that a partial relocation of our forces to the White Zone would be favorable to our position, but only if we can find a way to get there. Setting up training camps and bases inside the white zone could help us fuel an insurgency inside Korea.

We still have contacts and sympathizers in Korea, let us temporarily adjourn this meeting and find out how many of them are still alive and willing to help us set up a route to the white zone, then we, once we know just how many assets we have, we can meet again and pool our resources."

The leaders of most of the other factions would be in agreement. The meeting would be adjourned, and messages would be sent out to discover how many of the DPRK's friends remained loyal to to the Red Star.

Former Communist Officials Put on Trial

The trials of a number of former Communist officials began today. Most of the officials were top ranking communists, and have been charged with a variety of crimes ranging from embezzlement to mass murder. In brief statements issued today, the ex-officials denounced the existing Republican government, and called the trials "a sham."

While popular opinion does appear to support the government's efforts to hunt down and bring former Communist officials to court, the current cases have caused some debate as to just who should be tried. Some conservative politicians have called for the government to begin arresting everyone who was associated with the DPRK, which would require the arrests of hundreds of thousands, while more liberal factions have called for only high ranking officials who played a direct role in the DPRK to be tried. In a statement today, the President said that "The former officials and supporters of the DPRK will be tried on a case by case basis, and will be charged and treated depending on the crimes they have committed."

  13. Yes, but your post basically comes down to "Now we know everything about their military." That's rather hard to do when all you have is an AK variant, a radio, a pistol, and some destroyed tanks. And besides, you hit those tanks with numerous AGM-65s, are you honestly expecting there to be much left? Similarly, if you're fishing those small arms off dead soldiers, they would hardly be in the best condition, considering that the soldiers most likely got hit by an artillery shell...

  14. No, I'm basing that on the fact that in my resistance thread, you lost some 25 tanks and 1,000 soldiers, which according to you, were sitting in the Burgenland. Since the Burgenland is mine now, I assumed that I captured leftover equipment and the burning hulks of your tanks, which I used for study.

You're not going to find the equipment you would need to get the kind of intel you're talking about. Anything that could be removed would have been removed, including those tanks. I mean, they are perfectly good scrap metal, and considering that my govt. didn't really consider the war to be over yet, they wouldn't have simply left shit behind.

  15.

Elsewhere, the Heer has captured documentation from the former Hungary-Slovakian state, along with equipment left behind by Belarusian forces. This has led to the Wehrmacht and BND/BfV gaining valuable technical knowledge of Belarusian military systems, especially in regards to small arms, communications equipment, and armored forces, which will be of great use should Alvonia find itself in conflict with Belarus again.

Um, yeah, calling bullshit on this. Saying that I left information about all my shit right on your doorstep is rping my characters, I would imagine.

  16. How about an rp that covers north America and Europe between 1812 - 1868?

How 'bout one that covers the entire world, only, you can only make nations in Europe or North America. That way, you can still make colonies wherever you want, but everyone's core territories are close enough for there to be easy interaction between various nations.
