Six months ago due to an unfortunate set of events we almost got squashed by the GGA, only due to the intercession of Bilrow The Magnanimous we managed to survive (all heil Bilrow!)

I am thinking of Treaties. We only have drafts of our treaties in our forums, the real treaties were posted onthe CN forums and we linked to them in our forums.

Glad to GCSN survive its debacle.. Am I right in remembering them as the only ones that voiced their support for The Legion and backed it up by going to war in its defense? I think they were the only ones that did that though they paid a heavy price for their convictions...
(or was it someother alliace? the one I am thinking of is Imperial Gashira's allaince)

When a DOW is posted or a proclamation of some policy is posted Hails! are useful to determine who the supporters of that alliance are.
When a small alliance posts its 100k or 1,000,000 breakthrough, then even between enemies, a Hail is an expresion of encouragement to keep up the good work and recognition of the effort spent. There would be nothing more depressing than to post what you thought was a hard won achievement and have no one comment on it or congratulate you for it. We are a community after all.
So in my opinion Hails! are Not spam, and are useful gages of the political landscape.
Now I agree in some respects with something posted to the effect that the overly use of IRC has resulted in a decrease in well crafted, well thougth out posts and Role Play. In order to combat that I will start cutting conversations short in IRC and merely say:

There are those that parade the number of their ZI'd nations and thirst for more, coming up with one excuse or other to add to their count, to put another notch on their keyboard.
And there are those that try to avoid it and dislike the times when it is necessary to use it. I am glad to see NATO is amongst the second group. I am glad to see that all the posts of 'NATO is a Respectable alliance' were not fluff nor mindless adulation but true statements of fact. You've made me a believer.

What timing!
We had been in discussions since Thursday of Friday to have /?/ disband and join us.. They decided to hold on till Tuesday to get everyone's vote and notify everyone as most where out for the holidays.
We beseech mercy on the part of The Brotherhood of the Storm, given the age of this feud and the fact that /?/ were inprocess of disbanding on their own.

Congratulations! This feud has been going on for over 6 months. The DC/?/HolyEmpire guys get squashed, they rebuild, they get squashed, they rebuild again... they get squashed and not loose heart and rebuild again.
