  1. Hi all,

I've just joined the game for few days and I've flooded with dozen of mails regarding joining their alliance and I have absolutely no idea which Alliance to join.

    1. Can I join more than one Alliance? If I join more than one Alliance, would I be under attack?

    2. How many Alliance are actually there?

    3. How do you define if the Alliance that you joined actually helps you in building your country?

    4. Can I withdraw from an Alliance at any time?

Ah! Somebody posted while i was typing up mine!

    Thanks!!

    1. No.

    2. More than I care to count.

    3. If they send you aid, monetarily or militarily.

    4. Depends on the alliance.

I wouldn't try to join any alliance right now. There's a LOT of wars going on and you won't get much aid, plus you'll be expected to participate.

  2. I don't think universal trading is a good idea. I play Travian, which has universal trading, and 90% of the trades put up are people wanting to trade a certain amount of a crappy resource for twice that amount of a good resource for huge profits. It's retarded.

precisely what i was pointing out, my good man. it takes forever to scroll through to find any decent deals.

  3. noted.

would someone give me an opinion on the bonus resource effects i suggested though? with my suggestion there's still gonna need to be more bonus resources

    for a recap, those were:

something that would allow +2 tech per price level

one that would increase people per land mile

maybe one that would slightly decrease #of people needed per improvement

  4. Quite possibly. The trick is to find things that lead to competing, equally effective strategies, not things that replace current strategies with a new one.

For example, the government type change... when Monarchy lost its star, there was some fudging around, and then the game settled on Capitalism and Republic as the new "best governments". Some hold out, but that's the consensus. I think it would have been better if each government type had one bonus, not several, then one would have to make a clear choice in his nation-building strategy.

the thing is that you can't make equally effective strategies without adding something new. there's no way you're ever goign to justify having Furs give an infra discount. also, making new bonuses that give the same benefits as construction only doing it with resources like Furs also doesn't make any sense. can you justify a bonus resource for Furs that gives an infra bonus? besides, new options mean new strategies.
