Aggressive Attack is best attack
I had to settle with 9 cautious and 1 aggressive today to ensure I got through everybody since I had low odds (apart from corpse who would rather maintain his warchest); went off with 1 loss and a bunch of casualties, so pretty pleased.

Funnily enough, my last cautious resulted in no fewer casualties than my corresponding aggressive attack.

  2. What's so special about G'-'6 apart from the fact that it looks like a smiley face with big ears

    Almost overlooked this:

Does your gov allow its members (gov members) to leave and come back at will? I ask because in a reply to my post DM talks about helping his fellow gov members make better war decisions. That implies he is gov and would it be safe to assume he has been? Therefore tpc gov knew snd abetted his flag run, I must say I really don't care.
I think a couple previous posts concerning this by TPC gov might have been a bit misleading, which is fine - I was actually gov last round in the sense that I was guiding TPC through the base of its building process. So I made the guides, kept a tab on TPC nations, and KJ would be the one keeping sure everything is on track - acting in my role; which it must be said is not a vital one... of course I'm sure many of you know (from spying or being a past member) that I enforce an agressive development program that involves regular updates of varying situations through in-game messages, so KJ had to uphold a watered down version of that which he normally does alongside me anyway obviously.
That's not in response to your first question, however.

Your second comment relates to a sarcastic remark that I made, suggesting that you clearly know a lot more about choosing the 'right' war than I and others do.

I took leave last round due to real life reasons because I was planning a lengthy trip that never occured in the end that would have limited my ability to govern TPC being my last proper holiday probably ever, so I decided to 'flagrun' instead using a technique that would allow such long periods of inactivity - long backcollects and lying low and out of war.
TPC obviously knew of this and KJ was happy with the idea for just a round, and then the bet with Confusion came as I mentioned to him I'll be flagrunning - http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=102797 - then the bet with Laz came in within the last couple of weeks of the round; he seemed to be sure of something.

...and now I'm back with "some more quality nation building schemes" and TPC's doing pretty well relatively speaking, so I'm happy.

So coming back to the first question, you probably already know this, but it's complicated and depends on the scenario.

    Any more interesting questions?

Regarding DM. He flag chases every round, and does know how to build his nation. He usually uses a new name to hide, and he will generally always try to save his cash for the end. It wasnt just last round because of the bet with confusion.
This guy speaks the truth, but I was going for #1 last round to stop Confusion for getting a hatrick and gloating about it on IRC and the OWF. I will happily accept my 1k tech betting wins from Confusion and Laz however.

Some prefer to stay in their AA the entire round, not waiting until the end to join it *cough* like someone did last round; no names or finger pointing. Some prefer good fights to fights that limit damage so they can get such inflated NS. If these apply, please do not speak to me about ethics.

Ethics are generally agreed upon societal norms for behavior. Using this definition it seems yours and your AAs are anything but as many have already up about the tactics employed and we are at war so we will let our nukes speak for our displeasure.
How can you stay in an AA for an entire round and join it at the end, because what I did last round was stay out of the TPC AA for most of the round then join it at the end for a reason I cannot remember.

Every post you make seems to revolve around your perception of the ethics of TE which is why I would enjoy discussing such matters with you. Perhaps I could learn from you how to choose a truly fair war, such that I can aid my fellow gov members.

  5. I'd like to say a few words as you don't see me much round here since Confusion arrived.

This is your chance to get your view from the most ridiculously straight-talking guy in TE. I will get several beatings for this from KJ as a result, but I kind of like it.
TPC certainly has some massive ass warchests and WRC's... Too much standing around and not doing anything this round, this can't happen again.
Yeah, we've been doing too little lately, I have been thinking deeply for many weeks about how I should spend my 14 billion with no soldiers to blow it on.
Interesting that you find this funny considering TPC sat on there asses for 30 days after coming off an easy war with OP after they just finished fighting Anon and SUN when you guys came off an easy war hitting a bunch of newbie micros and tW.
Yeah, OP had it pretty tough... but we do like to bully as an elite alliance, it makes us feel big [/sarcasm]
I just wonder where I can get a copy of the TE manual some of you are using. Its forbidden to baptize new alliances and strong groups like tW with war in a war game. Its forbidden to hit an elite alliance 10-11 days after they peace out, but its also forbidden to hold your position for a bit. When was the last time TPC went without attempting war for 30 days? Good question. The answer goes farther back than I remember, because three weeks ago we attempted a war that didn't work out--after we went to the strongest alliance in the game and was willing to give up a blitz advantage and fight a full fledged war for as long as both sides wanted.
I think the only manuals alliances are following these days are my nation building guides. Nothing about politics in there.

However, if you want to clear a query up concerning TE ethics, your best bet is to approach the very learned figures that are paul711 and bcortell. They are essentially the rule-makers from my experience if you weren't already aware; alternatively I'm always open to offer advice on how to keep your alliance out of war and in peace mode for the whole round such that you can farm your pixels and your friends' pixels successfully. [/partial sarcasm]
I quoted it wrong I guess, I take exception to the fact that you said you fight the same amount "if not more, than anyone else out there with a shorter turn around". That is what I am calling BS on.
I think we actually do fight relatively more than most larger alliances - the problem is that most of our wars seem to be what paul would class as 'downdeclares'. In fact it got me thinking... this new shorter 5 day war system is actually a pretty bad idea in many respects.
As far as anything political TPC is the most political AA I know, you may not be the first to jump start a world war but you guys are playing politics behind the scenes when it comes to wars and friends, there is no doubt about that.
We're not very political except where RE is concerned and possibly SUN. That is my view although I am the worst person to ask about politics.

We do however play with a very high emphasis on nation-well-being, much like the alliances OP, PS and LE in that particular order. That is partly my fault, and also unfortunately due to the way our long-serving members have become accustomed to playing TE which you may experience should you one day decide to get a flavour of TPC as a community.
Yes, we have also been rolled together, because of that I respect you guys but when you guys sit out for weeks at a time and then claim to war more then anyone else that respect dwindles.
Perhaps our recent laid back attitude will entice more alliances to have a go at us on the battlefield. I'll be waiting with my shotgun.

To huggle infra and money? No, to get a flag I think so.
To huggle infra and money - Yes.
To attempt a flag win - only for certain individuals, one of which has been mentioned in this topic. There are roughly five in total in TPC. Unfortunately their chances aren't relatively good (especially taking into account Kardashian's [Solaris] and RE's current positions), but at least they will benefit from the experience, as have I. I find it quite a thrilling experience myself - knowing you've got individual competition and that there are always entities out there hungry to take you out, most of the time Confusion or bcortell these days - but I'm sure that will change as it already has in a sense.
Glad to know Amateurs can build 30k NS nations with massive warchests, yet have no idea how politics/gov't work.
HAHAHA! That's me!!!
And because Dealmaster had an $80 million warchest turtling the entire round? :smug:
Firstly even I couldn't remember how much I ended up collecting and secondly I just turtled for most of the round I'm pretty sure, so let's not go off thinking I got away with everything for the whole 58 updates. That was my flag-running tactic which only works when there is a lot of mutual destruction in TE, which there was last round and the one before that, but not this round; so unfortunately I think Confusion and co might lose out to a large nation in a large alliance if they have opted, this round, to mirror my recent strategy.
They know...
Thanks for the input.

    This is a clownfish:

    Thanks, lovin the banter

  6. I have also noticed that alliance details update at strange times, depending on when you view the relevant web pages.

Edit: The point I've made isn't new to this round at all by the way

  7.
I'm not going to be able to make the launch happen tonight. I wasn't able to get in as much coding as I wanted to last night and I've still got testing to do. Sorry folks. We're getting really close but just not tonight. I'll make sure to give everyone at least a 24 hour notice before we do launch.
Haha I feel for you!

My own programming productivity was dismal yesterday, despite convincing myself I'd make up for the previous day's hangover.

    Ahh, the programmer's life...

  8. Sorry, just to clarify, the op forces you to stay in anarchy pre-collection.

You can view the full effects of the op here:
    http://cybernations.wikia.com/wiki/Government_Type#Government_Effects

All in all, even if you were a very large nation at 100 days of inactivity, because admin forgot to delete the inactives for a few months, you probably still wouldn't lose your precious 20 mil in collections.

Edit: this is where a lot of experience in war comes to play

    Lol - ^ that's so ironic ^
I started the thread because it was an official (upfront) DoW on LE
If I hadn't started it then I might have been accused of being a 'Rogue'
What's remotely ironic is that you were considered a rogue either way.

Also, yes, I was 'hiding' from casualties this round. You know? It's nice to have a change every once in a while, Therm.

  10. Well I personally think it would have been best refraining from making this topic which was clearly going to receive a lot of controversy.

It's fun seeing you around here so better luck next round with the casualties.

    :nuke:

  11. If it was Toad1 you were trying to naval attack, it's rather an error in the message "You must have a land area of at least 250 in order to conduct naval operations.".

It should read that you can't attack your opponent as they have less than 250 miles of land and have no navy vessels.
