  1. I do respect IRON, as IRON members generally are quite polite and respectful, and IRON as an alliance was never one of those troll-houses.

That said, if you sign an MADP with an alliance, you are part of whatever crime they commit, you are responsible for it.

You don't sign a treaty that means an automatic participation in every offensive war with an alliance like NPO to later say "hey, we didn't start the wars!".

By MADP logic, you may as well have started it yourself, at least you lend the muscle to the crimes committed.

[OOC]A guy standing watch while his buddies beat up someone else is a criminal as well. A guy helping out his friends beating someone up by later joining the fray is also a criminal.[/OOC]

Participation in a crime, no matter for what reason (loyalty and friendship included) makes you guilty of the crime.

IRON and NPO are definitely not of the same kind, but the only way IRON could claim to not have participated in all of Hegemonies acts would have been in not signing 1V and Q, or leaving it before any crimes were permitted, as well as all the individual treaties IRON held and holds with all the 1V and Q alliances.

IRON was heavily tied to Hegemony, was one of the core alliances, its leadership involved in all that was going on (doesn't matter whether just being informed or making decisions, although my educated guess would be that IRON was powerful enough to make decisions), and thus there is no way backing out of it now.

Still doesn't change that you guys are a nice bunch, and that I like you delgursh :P

[OOC]Do you dump your wife/husband/boy-girlfriend at the first sign of trouble? No, you try to help them recover. Sometimes they do recover, sometimes they don't.[/OOC]

I fully recognize that 1v/Q was drifting into 'dangerous' territory behavioral wise for a while, but I like to think that we decided to stick to the ship and attempted to keep it afloat and on a better course rather than jumping to the lifeboats at the first sign of danger. Obviously in 20/20 hindsight, that was a mistake as the NPO had far too much influence and diplomatic/political power to be really ever maneuvered around,, but at the time it seemed the best option.

Just up and leaving a powerful bloc when you are a core member is an incredibly destructive move and would have sealed 1v/Q's fate and opened ourselves up to possible attack by both our 'former' allies and by other alliances who had potential grievances with 1v/Q.

Also, to cloud things further, at the time the NPO, tho hated by a fairly large number of people spread out through Cybernations, were respected as an absolutely rational, nearly always honorable, mostly careful and (shock) often diplomatic alliance. How do you predict that the NPO would lose their heads and attack a small alliance that hardly knew any better when it was completely obvious that said action would immediately invite in their own destruction and the destruction of their allies?

You could say "But they did it before" and point out some other alliance like GOLD, but that would still not be the case. The NPO acted rationally and mostly justifiable in attacking GOLD. GOLD could not have caused the destruction of allies and GOLD had performed acts of espionage on the NPO.

I could go on for ages, but I am exhausted. Time for sleep now.

  2. While I understand that IRON did the same thing on multiple occasions, doing the same to them lessens your credibility in the eyes of players who aren't privy to the inner workings of Karma.

I am pretty sure the only alliance we really kicked when they were down was The Empire, a small one started by several Ex-Councilers who hacked our forums ages ago. Everything else (FAN) was required by treaty IIRC. Feel free to post links if I'm wrong.

  3. Ahh, of course this had to happen on the day I was too busy to rule my nation :P

Anyway, here's my belated thanks to our opponents at IRON. Due to R.O.C.K.'s small member base I don't think many of you even noticed we were there, but those who had the chance to meet our guys on the battlefield did more than fine and acted honorably. I'm very grateful that our larger guys managed to find a couple of fruitful nuke trades and that somebody finally taught our smaller nations why "Guerrilla Camps" are written with red flashing capitals on our war guides e280278.gif

Congrats on the peace and good luck with rebuilding.

EDIT: I forgot to hail our side, but I guess that goes without saying.

MHA and Fark taught me that very well too. I got caught with only 2 GCs :P. I think I won like 10-12 offensive ground battles total. Thank god for my SDI.

Here is to peace and hopefully a renewed friendship with my MHA/FARK opponents and others I did not get to face.

  4. Wartz of UncleHermsPlace reporting in.

I was only a member for month~, but I haven't forgotten the lonely few who stayed on and kept encouraging me after all hope seemed lost in PWII.

I rerolled after the NAAC got peace, been with IRON ever since.

    I still fly the flag.

  5. For your information, I liked IRON. I used to like them a lot. I still have some respect for them and the respect can be increased greatly if you go back to the independent route you were on before.

And common grunts... That's all it takes. A single common grunt to voice his opinion and it might all change. Can you please take a look at the history of your own alliance, think hard and then try to win back some of that independence I liked?

    Thanks

The reason IRON changed course on your interpretation of Independent is because back in the day, GOONs and FAN would have liked nothing better than to attack and crush us for fun. It was the NPO who made sure they didn't try anything, and for that we always respected the NPO as a stable and relatively friendly alliance.

  6. I didn't fight since I was in IRON. But it was still funny to be sitting in IRC and random important people would come by every couple hours and ask me if IRON was joining them yet. ^_^ I was about the only person besides good old DF who idled there.

Apparently they thought I was someone important in IRON though since various CoaLUEtion people brought me into their war channel and later the negotiation channel. They wanted millions in reps but couldn't agree on a number to demand from the NPO. Then they ended up not getting anything at all and in a month the NPO was as strong as ever.

  7. Especially fake ones to get out of war. Amirite?

    I'd expect this from you.

I'm just going off on tangents here. NPO really has won the game when you think about it. They didn't ruin it. They straight up won. It took hard work and dedication to their values but when there can be no more wars of significance, when people do what you did just to avoid them, and when people tell treaty partners to stay away just so they don't incur the wrath..... They won. Plain and simple and they deserve all the credit in the world. I'm happy to have them as allies. It means as long as through the years if we don't do anything to piss them off and stay true to our values then we won as well.

Forgive me but I'd like to see one great battle in my time before we get too comfortable in that realization. :P

    Cybernations is far from won.

  8. It used to be normal to have 3-5 events all the time.

  9. Not to take sides or anything, but I suspect in some of the cases it could be that you guys just played the game longer and are so far down the road to win that no one else could catch up regardless of how well they played the game. It's not anyone's fault, only the way things are. Just a thought.

If that was the case, GATO would be number 1. <_<

I still hurt in my heart from PWII though GATO. :(
