  1. Wow... this is what happens when your become less active and out of the loop... I almost choke when I saw that.

I actually always liked TOP despite something that they have against us.

Nice to see this, congrats to both alliances

By the way, this is one of the reasons that I put Dajobo in my "dream team" of alliance leaders on another thread.

  2. Emperor: Tulak Hord
    Regent: Dajobo
    Minister of War: MagicNinja
    Minister of Economics: Roquentin
    Minister of Foreign Affairs: Archon
    Minister of Internal Affairs: Xiphosis

The problem that in this lineup while they are all good individually as a team they would be terrible

  3. stuff said by everybody

Not saying that this is good or bad.. In my personal experience most of people from Sparta (at least when I was active), MHA and even Fark enjoyed much more their own forums and their own camaraderie than BOB politics. This doesn't mean that these alliances wouldn't go to war. They actualy played a role and almost every war in the last 5 years. However, it is very simple: Can anyone tell me about a war that have been started by any XX alliance? That's what I call "semi-neutral".

  4.

    Thoughts? Retorts?

You were pretty acurate. Before the war ended, I was already saying basically the same thing as you. The only thing that I would add, which is something that people do not take in consideration is that SF/XX will NEVER start a war. That's their nature. To roll SF/XX, specially in the current environment it is actually not difficult, but this will garantee that in the war after that SF/XX will ally to whoever is against the former foe.  In other words, despite the self-satisfaction, to roll SF/XX does not give any edge in the long run. It is actually the opposite.

EQ was only possible because DH/C&G  became SF/XX foe in the previous war.

in conclusion: SF/XX is almost a semi-neutral block. It will never start a war, it will never try to start a war. Nothing to gain there if you want to be the political dominant force.

ADDED: SF and XX were not as close as many think. In fact, DH/C&G actions actually made it way more difficult a rupture between the two.

  5. I gotcha, but I don't think that's true. I think everyone cared about those treaties and certainly didn't view them as relics at the time (notable exception possibly being Sparta-RIA

On that one you are not right my friend. Sparta-Ria treaty was very solid at time. In fact Sparta was in debt with RIA. The things went sour wars after that, when RIA treatied Polar (nothing against polar), which with thought was a bad political move, nothing to gain (for RIA and Polar) and a lot to loose (for all RIA allies). This of course is disputable, and I am not saying RIA was wrong.

In fact even after the cancelation RIA was respected by Sparta. I would think they still are.

  6. NPL, RIA and R&R all had their own ties to XX that predate most of the later political shenanigans.  The RIA/Sparta treaty was inked before the Karma war, and Fark is RIA's oldest ally.

It is true that Sparta was very close to RIA. However, Sparta was very close to ODN as well. (and RnR with internoptional)

Myth I don't see how you could expect anyone to buy that XX and SF weren't going to be working together when R&R is in both blocs.

Myth is right, there was an extensive pressure on RnR to pick a bloc.

The ironic thing is that our feud with God, which made Xiph insult  Luka (King at the time) and me (MoFA at the time), was because we chose the strategy to attack Aztec, following Umbrella request, instead of attacking GATO per God request. (in fact Gato and Sparta were considering a treaty pre-war)

So, the same group that we supported, decided that we were to big too exist and used as an excuse the hatred towards God/CSN (which at that time were hostile towards us) to roll XX.

I would like to repeat (thanks Myth for confirming this). It was everything about XX and not SF as most of people were made believe.

Added: Athens at time also asked us to not attack GATO.  So next war, Umbrella, Athens (as tLR),  ODN, internoptional  and Gato attacked XX.

Curiously FOK (merged to form Non Grata) did the honest thing and fighted for both sides, defending both their allies.

  7. Rebel Virginia, the beggar king.

    He deserves a golden crown....

Seriously, I think we should start a campaign to bring RV back to NSO. I know, I always hated the guy, but it is undeniable that he was very entertaining at that time... Now he lost his mojo...
  8. Why is that pro-ti always solely aimed at Umbrella. Never at Sparta.

First off the treaty pre-dated them ever being on opposite sides. It was when Sparta decided to form XX and essentially marry SF that the two treaties were put into total opposition. They were not put into opposition by anything at all that Umbrella did. Umbrella just stayed their course with their allies. Sparta knew full well what forming XX and marrying SF meant.  You could correctly say that neither side should have even made the futile effort to keep their relationship, and I would be ok with that. But it seems like, coming from across the web, that all of the blame falls 100% on Umbrella, and it is just simply not true.

You are right when you say that the blame should not fall on umbrella 100%.

But You are wrong about XX.  At that time both Sparta and MHA were Umbrella allies. Sparta and RnR had ties with C&G through ODN and Inter.  Moreover, Sparta canceled on God, and sometime after that Sparta and CSN also went to different sides.

XX shouldn't be a problem to umbrella. at all.

I understand what JA said in some posts ago. My biggest problem is that, while I can't prove that, all the ideia that DH went after SF is BS. Yes, the used all the animosity against God and CSN to gather support to roll our sphere, but the ultimate target was XX not SF. Ardus and Leet mentioned many times in Sparta embassy and in other channels that they tought XX was basically too big to exist (remember that at that time fark, MHA and Sparta were in the top 5 alliances). The idea behind is that, despite the fact that XX alliances would never start a war, and that they were never elite alliances (perhaps fark being an exception), no war could have been won without XX support.

My biggest problem with Umbrella and specially ODN is that Sparta and XX would never let them down. But DH/C&G brought XX to the ground, not as a "collateral damage" as many say, but as a direct hit.

  9. I had a choice, MHA/Sparta and Sf/XX by proxy or DH/CnG etc. Both sides were playing to our sympathies and attempting to get us on side and everyone was being a complete tool about it(including myself). I picked the latter and the rest is history.

Maybe I missed something, but this was the most honest and understandable explanation that I have heard from Umbrella. I may not agree but I can see the reason behind it.
  10. Hooligans had no obligation to come fight, but felt they should fight alongside their ally, GATO.
Their length of time in battle is irrelevant given their lack of obligation in my opinion.
If nothing else, I appreciate them for this.
I also wish them the best in rebuilding.
