  1. Nicholas Carr always writes thought-provoking articles. Thanks for posting this--it deserves a wide readership.
  2. Old Guard, a prestigious alliance of established players, many of whom have been playing for more than three years, is proud to announce the formation of and invite applications to the Young Guard. The Young Guard is a way for new or smaller nations to learn the game and grow their nations in a safe environment. Young Guard is not a protectorate of Old Guard; it is an integral part. If they so choose, Young Guard members may apply for full Old Guard membership at the appropriate time. Eventual Old Guard membership is not, however, required of any Young Guard member. The only requirement for joining Young Guard is a commitment to excellence, a willingness to be active, and the desire to learn from some of the most experienced players in the game. If interested in requesting a simple, informal interview, or if you just want to learn more, please use the following links to register on our forum: Young Guard bylaws http://z6.invisionfree.com/Old_Guard/index.php?showtopic=4756 Application thread can be found here http://z6.invisionfree.com/Old_Guard/index.php?showtopic=4757 We will be happy to answer any and all of your questions. All Young Guard members will wear the AA tag of "Young Guard." Old Guard fully protects this alliance affiliation, and will consider any aggression against a Young Guard member as aggression against Old Guard. The aggressor will be treated accordingly. Old Guard. Integrity. Stability. Tradition. Signed 01/22/2010 Empress Theodora Triumvir of Security Pasquali Triumvir of External Affairs Ch33kY Triumvir of Internal Affairs
  3. This comment is very insightful. I agree that CNTE has become something of a safety valve. That, coupled with the stagnation that comes from having older and stronger nations dominating the alliances. But who knows? Maybe Planet Bob has achieved a balance of power.
  4. I never thought of that, but it makes perfect sense! Perceptive on your part, NoFish!
  5. Actually, the situation is analogous to the situation between the Athenian and Spartan alliances in the Peloponnesian War. Donald Kagan covers this brilliantly in his book The Peloponnesian War.
  6. Is it possible to download my alliance members' statistics, like infra, tech, soldiers, tanks, etc., directly from a CN screen into a spreadsheet? The only way I can see to get all this information in one place is to do it by hand, and that would take a long time, even for a small alliance. It would be impossible for a large alliance.
  7. We're glad to be here. What we lack in numbers, we make up in determination.
