You don't think 2 to 1 odds against us as the aggressors was bad enough? It needed to be 6 to 1? And then at the end of that, a victory for an alliance like AcTi? No, I think that the way the situation was handled was in the best interests of both AcTi and Thriller. As for all the moralists that wanted to get in on the action, I would politely invite them to go start their own - and on fair terms.

In other news, to help make the fight more fair, TOP is attacking Legion.

Also, GOONS gets reps for starting a war.

This moralism is killing the game!

I expected the handing over of power to be done in a much more formal manner befitting the tradition and stature of your Order.

The coronation ceremony was actually beautiful and very moving. I should konw for I've witnessed and/or helped coordinate 7 years worth of coronations. After Franco's death during the fall of Pixiedance, his body was smuggled out of The North Pacific and laid to rest within the city that now bears his name. The Sash of the Delegate, the symbol of authority, stained with the founders blood, was placed into a box and handed to his chosen sucessor, Poskrebyshev, by a page. The Senators asked him "what will you have us do?" The Emperor responded "All that is required."

Today, that sash, still stained with the blood of the Founder, is handed to the new Emperor in a box by a simple page. It reminds the New Emperor that she is one link in an unbroken chain, and that she must do all that is required, what ever that means. By solomly placing the sash on her own shoulders, the Emperor is announcing she is taking this mantle of responsiblity freely, but not lightly.

The outgoing Emperor gave a speech, the excerpt reported actually penned by Cortath. The new Emperor gave a speech, the excerpt reported actually penned by Mary.

Due to the timing of the transfer, the climate of the open world forum, and general decorum of previous guests at other public Pacifican events, it was decided that this moment should be kept private among the Pacificans, and that the general population of Planet Bob could read about it in the April 1 edition of the Tabloid Tribune. Perhaps the full speeches will be released so various elements can mock them with tired refrains of "NPO: serious business." Perhaps not. Regardless, the transfer of authority has been announced, and if you wish to purchase a present for the Emperor, you can never go wrong with anything from the Abu Dhabi Arms Fair.

So whoever wrote that didn't think that a female would ever run NPO.
You'll notice it was written without gender pronouns (no "he" or "she").

Personally, I don't believe we should have genders attached to professional titles. For instance, I know a few females in the acting profession. They prefer to be called "actors" instead of "actresses." [ooc]You'll also notice that the SAG awards (Screen Actor's Guild) use "best female actor," not "best actress."[/ooc]

The Order is a meritocracy. Gender does not matter. The titles of our members reflect their responsibilities, not their sex.

Does she have penis envy or something?

    o/ Empress.
    o/ NPO.
The Charter of the New Pacific Order states the following:
The Emperor is the Sovereign of the alliance. As such, the Emperor has the sole power over the affairs of the alliance, although such powers can be delegated to others. The Emperor serves for life or until resignation. Every Emperor is appointed by their predecessor and ascends to the throne upon the termination of the latter's reign. In the absence of the Emperor, the Regent shall execute the duties of the Emperor.
The Order stricly follows the Charter, and the Charter states the name of the position is Emperor.
Kinda sad that the changing of power was done in a joke thread and that it only reached 3 pages of responses.
What do you expect from Comrade *Chuckles*?

Sadly, many of our lower-tier nations have been facing formerly large NPO nations that possess a full complement of economic wonders, military wonders and nuclear weapons. We knew going in what the consequences would be, so this really comes as no surprise.
That can't be right... any NPO nation with that many wonders and improvements is surely in peacemode.

    Our national nightmare is over

FRANCOGRAD: In a move praised by all corners of the Cyberverse, the failed Emperorship of Blackbird has finally come to a close. Pacificans from the North, South, East and West gathered at the Body Republic to celebrate the dethroning of the disgraced Premier.

Cortath offered no excuses for his behavior, which included growing the Order beyond the Doomhouse-approved NS cap, uniting the Red Sphere alliances, improving relations with NPO-detractors such as Schattenmann and ensuring no foreign army would every have a legitimate casus belli against Pacifica.

Fleeing the responsibilities laid at his feet which he was completely incapable of meeting, his final act as Emperor was to appoint Mary the Fantabulous as the fifth Emperor of the New Pacific Order. Said Cortath of Ms. Fantabulous:

“Give to my Regent your sovereignty, and she shall protect it. Give to her your loyalty, and she shall cherish it. Give to her your wisdom, and she shall unite in our meritocratic traditions.”

Or, as put by Sardonic, “Give me a BREAK.” For her part, Mary, the Fifth Emperor of the New Pacific Order and first Dragon Emperor, graciously excused the previous Emperor’s behavior in her speech to the Body Republic:

“Comrades, we were attacked because we failed to reach out to Doomhouse. When they attacked our trading partners and tried to destroy the red sphere that was just their way of breaking the ice. My predecessor misinterpreted that as a slap in the face of our alliance, but I see it as a hand of friendship extended to Pacifica.”

The Dragon Emperor finished remarks by telling the Body Republic that “I am not a person of many words, but I am one of action. Together, ever forward Pacifica.” The Emperor’s first action was to promote Internal Affairs Imperial Officer Brehon to the post of Regent, where he is currently working to improve relations with the honorable alliances of Umbrella, Mushroom Kingdom, and GOONS.

    Nemhauser, staunch supporter of Pacifica

BERLIN, Nordreich: Starting with Ivan Moldavi, The New Pacific Order has traditionally had positive relations with the Germanic nationalist alliances in the cyberverse. Today is no exception as the Dragon Emperor Mary the Fantabulous has decided to publically announce the secret alliance between the Order and the Nordreich. Said the Emperor:

“While my Imperial Officers advised me against public disclosure, I believe that honesty will be the only option for the Order. Besides, there is no way that this could stay secret due to NoR’s explicit aid during our conflict with Doomhouse.”

Indeed, NoR forces have been invaluable in the Pacifican-Doomhouse war, filling defensive slots and providing funding for the war effort. Said Charles Steward of his NoR opponent, “he persists in attacking my nation day after day dumping 2 million from failed GAs on my nation's battlefields and that is before I loot another 2 million in my victorious ground assaults.” Axel3200 noted that “currently have a defensive (note: defensive) war with a NoR target that has never attacked me.”

Spirits are high on the German “front” and the Order thanks everyone over at Nordriech for helping the New Pacific Order in its time of need.

End the war by expanding the conflict? BRILLIANT!

FRANCOGRAD: Following Sardonic's and Ardus's impeccable logic, the New Pacific Order has followed in the footsteps of [s]i[/s]FOK and VE and declared war on NADC. Said Regent Brehon, “In an effort to start improving relations between Doomhouse and the Order, we thought we would declare war on NADC, since apparently that will make the war end faster.” Indeed, it seems that now with the Polaris front closed off, all those alliances can now be put onto the Pacifican front to make sure the Pacificans don’t interfere with the war on Polaris. However, despite the forces available, the war continues. Said Sardonic “I don’t understand. I keep putting more nations at war, but the war is not getting smaller, it’s getting larger.”

The Order, in order to create order, ordered Order ordinance over ordinary objectives over there. An NADC spokesperson welcomed the war. “We, as steadfast allies of Pacifica, are looking forward to ending this war soon. By having even more alliances at war with us, we know peace is just around the corner. Besides, I’m sure that while NPO and DH are coordinating attacks on our nations, having them work together for a common cause will help heal the gaping scar on Archon’s heart that leads him to declare war on the NPO for the reason of just because.”

The real cause of the war.

As Pacificans leave key defensive posts to rush forward on their new offensive, NoR promised a massive push in areas where Order troops were vacating. Said Nemhauser, “That’s a promise you can take to the bank.”

No, don't be silly. GOONS asks for reps from anyone who attacks them, regardless of reason. They're not going to change their policy if NPO agrees to DH's reasonable terms.

With our offices in shambles from the might of the Pacifican juggernaut, the Tabloid Tribune, currently a subsidiary of the Mushroom Media Ménage, has decided to take a page from the MK trollbook and make a Tabloid Tribune template so that everyone can post how much the NPO sucks in a coherent way just by changing a few words. It’s like mad libs for low-brow journalism, and it means that I only have to write a few stories. You guys can cover “Moo criticized for not posting apology personally,” “Sir Paul criticized for CN Academy Awards,” “Cortath criticized for not disbanding alliance,” “Mary criticized for being too good at Scrabble,” and “Sir Paul criticized for stupid Tabloid Tribune issue.” I’ve written the first two, so you can feel free to do the rest or add your own stories in our bold new participatory format!

Pacifican sources say that the <action> was issued because of systemic changes in the Alliance and a desire to move on from past grievances. NPO Clerk and MK sovereign Sir Paul stated that “I can be proud of my alliance without being proud of everything my alliance has done. This is a way to <do what action did> and offer something to <who the action affected>.”

However, <post-karma troll> was not impressed, and went on to say <statement from troll>. NPO officials dismissed this claim by pointing out that <smart-ass comment>.

However, the chorus of nations has clearly indicated that their actions <went too far / did not go far enough>. <Statement from random troll>. To address this valid criticism, the Emperor has ordered Pacifican officials to <satisfy the troll in the most sarcastic way possible>.

Despite these steps, Pacifican detractors continue to state that the Order’s continued belief in Pacifican Exceptionalism is a driving force in the need to periodically destroy the alliance. But then again, if a single alliance warrants this much attention, perhaps they are exceptional.

    Pacifica Criticized For Apology

How it went over on the Open World Forum

FRANCOGRAD: In a move that shocked the Cyberverse, Pacifican Officials released an apology to the Federation of Armed Nations for their precipitation and participation in the Second FAN war. The apology is clearly the last spasms of a dying alliance that should be disbanded. Said [url=http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=99796&view=findpost&p=2662950
]Londo Mollari, noted Athenian, “Were the actions perpetrated by NPO to have taken place in a more physical realm, NPO would most assuredly have been guilty of war crimes and subject to trial and execution of its leadership, and forced change of regime for its people. The old symbols would be outlawed and their display would be counted a hate crime.”

Pacifican sources say that the apology was issued because of systemic changes in the Alliance and a desire to move on from past grievances. NPO Clerk and MK sovereign Sir Paul stated that “I can be proud of my alliance without being proud of everything my alliance has done. This is a way to being to acknowledge and address our regrettable actions and offer something to FAN.

However, Sardonic was not impressed, and went on to say “And therein lies the problem, they should have done it after the war. Anyone can apologize with a gun at their head.” NPO officials dismissed this claim by pointing out that, if Doomhouse claims, the whole alliance is in Peace Mode, there is no better time to break bread with the Federation and continue to work on a resolution to the outstanding issues.

However, the chorus of nations has clearly indicated that their actions did not go far enough. Omniscient1 asks “does IAA get their own thread for what happened with them. Can GATO get their own thread too? Even though I don't like most of them would you like to apologize to all the ex-Legion members too? or do we have to attack you guys before we can get one?” To address this valid criticism, the Emperor has ordered Pacifican officials to hire Barack Obama to do an apology tour on his behalf.

Obama, begging forgiveness from Xiphosis for all the horrible things NPO did to GOD

Despite these steps, Pacifican detractors continue to state that the Order’s continued belief in Pacifican Exceptionalism is a driving force in the need to periodically destroy the alliance. But then again, if a single alliance warrants this much attention, perhaps they are exceptional.

    Peace: It’s hard-core

FRANCOGRAD: In a move that frusterated the Cyberverse, Pacifican Officials ordered upper-tier nations into peace-mode in case of a no-CB attack by Doomhouse. The action is clearly the result of the last spams of a dying alliance that should be disbanded. Said Kingdom spokesperson Ardus “Those who do not bend will find themselves broken beyond all repair.”

Pacifican sources say that the order to move into peace-mode was issued because of systemic changes in the Alliance and a desire to move on from past grievances. NPO Clerk and MK sovereign Sir Paul stated that “I can be proud of my alliance without being proud of everything my alliance has done. This is a way to ensure the Order and Doomhouse can find peace for the New Polar Order with the minimal loss of life and offer something to the Umbrella and Kingdom nations that would be destroyed by Pacifican might.”

However, Antoine Roquentin was not impressed, and went on to say “We attacked them to eliminate their offensive capacity and ability to affect other fronts not 'keep them from getting involved' and ultimately, we have reason not to want to let a major player keep a lot of its fighting strength in tact[sic].” NPO officials dismissed this claim by pointing out that with half of its national strength destroyed, the NPO no longer has “a lot” of fighting strength left.

However, the chorus of nations has clearly indicated that their actions went too far. Quiziotle of the Kingdom questioned the Pacifican strategy of peace, noting that “Not even the vaunted hippie shield will save them now.” To address this valid criticism, the Emperor has ordered Pacificans to use ODN Brand™ hippie shields, which will protect the NPO from the retaliatory attacks they so richly deserve.

Next war every alliance from GPA down should flood the OWF with topics stating that they don't plan to get involved. Apparently that's the only to stop some from peering into the future and acting on what they could have possibly happened.

Considering some members of Doomhouse attacked alliances without posting a formal declaration of war, I just assume everyone is at war with everyone, unless stated otherwise.

Anyway, back on topic! As we all know, the Order is a shrub that must be trimmed back from time to time. After dismantling their tech, all that is left is to dismantle their infrastructure. Then, we can do it again in another 600 days. 300 if we've nothing else to do.

Will the venue be reconstructed in time?

Springfield, SIRPAUL: In front of a shattered auditorium before a live global audience, the 2010 nominees for the Cybernations Academy Awards were announced. In the 16 alliance categories, the New Pacific Order picked up the most with eight nods from the panel. However, the Mushroom Kingdom and Umbrella were close behind with five each. Also garnering multiple nominations were Polaris and GOONS with three each and picking up two nominations each were Mostly Harmless, FAN, and FARK.

In the seven individual categories, the top nominee getters were on opposite sides of the spectrum in size, style and power, with Schattenmann and Roquentin each grabbing three. Almighty Grub, Archon and Rebel Virginia also made strong showings with two nominations each. In a surprising twist, this marks the first year a Pacifican Emperor was not nominated for an award, perhaps an acknowledgement of the shift to a more distributed public face for the alliance. There are also many first-time nominees, such as Legacy, The Imperial Order, and The Brotherhood of Steel.

The 2010 Cybernations Academy Awards are for actions taken during the 2010 calendar year. The nominees and awards are decided by a diverse and secret panel of representatives who consist of people who have time to do that sort of thing. The awards will be handed out live via IRC and the OWF on Sunday, February 27th at 8 pm, Pacific time (10 pm server time) from the Imprimatur Theatre in Springfield, SIR PAUL. Award winners are invited to make a short (30 second or less) speech at the event when their victory is announced. For alliance awards, please select one representative to accept on behalf of your alliance. The organizers would like to thank the combined forces of Umbrella, GOONS, Mushroom Kingdom and FAN for allowing the Senior Industrial Regents to slip into peace mode, which will enable the reconstruction of the Imprimatur Theatre and ensure the safety of our attendees.

The Nominees for alliance and individual awards are as follows:

  15. My dearest Remlin,

You surrendered but do not know why. You did this because you have a conflict within you... You hate alliances that attack without cause, that bully others, that hold the world in fear. During your time in the Kingdom, your mind still hates the Order, but your heart knows that it is the Kingdom that has strayed from the path of enlightenment.

Why did you fail to ask for help? Because you can't accept it from aggressors involved in an unjust war. Why did you surrender to NADC? Because it was the only way to ensure your break with the evils of the Kingdom would be complete.

I promise you this, Remlin, when I am seated upon the Toadstool Throne and the Sword of Justice punishes the wicked, you will have a place in the Palace of Peace.

    Your humble Servant,
King Paul, Senior Industrial Regent and Pretender to the Toadstool Throne

  16. Jocko, I hope no Pacifican attacks you... we need those slots to liberate the Mushroom Kingdom. :smug:

Anyway, resigned 29 January, had very few posts before that due to being out of the country, and I'm genuinely disappointed that FAN felt this was their only option. I thought we at least had a cold peace, considering we had somewhat cordial relations since May. I believe I've demonstrated that there was contact between the alliances prior to this unprovoked assult as indicated by mpol and I wish you well in future.

  17. RE: Jocko - If we are such lying !@#$%^&* back in January, why re-establish relations with us in May? Remember, that whole active embassy you still have in Francograd? It's not like you never spoke to us again...

RE: Jocko - Also, my "valid" "CB" concern stemmed from, I believe, a (then) recent Athens attack using a stale CB. My concern is that MK and FAN were the type of people who may, in the future, attack us for no reason, except some rablings about not sending a Valentines Day card. The world would view it as "valid" because, hey, why not?

RE: New Frontier - Nominations will be annouced before the ceremony so people can show up to accept their awards and give speeches.

    RE: D34th - [ooc]Yes, that is the Dark Templar[/ooc]

RE: The rest of you - Why does everyone always latch onto just one article? I was really hoping ther'd me more chatter about my terrible singing voice, the CNAA, and the machinations of my steward Archon.
