  1. Oh no need for OOC I think, this isn't a real RP thread, more of a general overview of where my nation has been and where it's heading. I had considered that, but then I figured... a lot of things wouldn't make sense if we moved at the natural rate of the world. We're building whole fleets, reorganizing political structures, fighting several wars, and in a lot of cases drastically advancing in fields of technology and general society. It makes little sense if we have all of these things happen in the 2 or 3 years that the game has been going in reality. In my mind it makes much more sense if the game is moving at a faster rate than reality. But like I said, if I adhere to this perticular system, it's not like if everyone needs to make it their default or anything... Those who wish to interact with my nation and who don't want to express storylines in the future can just ignore my timeline.
  2. 2000 The East-Canadian government is thrown down in a publicly supported revolution. The Saborian nation is put into power. 2000 – 2010 Saboria is renamed into the nation’s original name, Canada. 2016 After nearly a decade of technological and political dominance, the Canadian government is inexplicably terminated, and the nation’s constituents are officially placed under a kind of mutually cooperative anarchy. September 2019 A new revolutionary movement, simply referring to themselves as the Montreal Citizens, assault the Mayor’s office and take control of the island city of Montreal. The city's ports and markets are re-opened for free trade. October 2019 The Montreal Citizens manage to secure alliances with several surrounding communities. They also track down and secure a number of abandoned Canadian military assets. January 2020 (planned) Montreal becomes the capital of the newly formed nation of Quebec. This is a WIP, and I understand full well that it will take a lot of editting for my timeline to become compatible with all of the other nation's dates and backgrounds and stuff. But yea, if any of you have constructive comments, opinions, or corrections about the timeline, please share.
  3. Checking the feed, Lance pushed the button and simply replied. “I am.” - - - Lance stepped into the room rather bluntly, the doors swinging open before him. He had been having a long day and he had little patience left, as such he wished to get right down to business. The walls of the conference room still bore marks from the storming of the building 4 days ago. A few bullet marks here and there, and a bloodstain on the carpet that the cleaning lady had been unable to completely remove. It was clear that the representatives were uneasy. Each of them had been called to come speak for their respective cities. Stephanie Clarence, here representing the city of Quebec. Once a historical landmark of Canada, Quebec city now serves as a refuge for over 3 million people. Daniel Carson, for Sherbrook, a largely agricultural community of 900.000 located to the South of Montreal. Peter Hankins of Saguenay, a river community and large trade hub with a population of nearly 2 million. And Paul Lévesque for Trois-Rivière (three rivers), another large trade hub located along the Saint Lawrence river, and boasting a population of over 2 million. Counting Lance himself and Montreal, only 5 percent of what was once Canada was represented here. Ferinh has sent no one, like many other major cities hadn’t. Still, they had to start somewhere. “Rockland! This is completely intolerable. You and your band of revolutionaries have preformed an illegal action here!” Levesque said standing up clearly trying, and failing, to seem intimidating. “Illegal? Under what nation’s laws?” Lance shot back, quickly moving into the room to take his seat. “We have no judicial system anymore, remember? We’re all running on the honor system now, and I just broke that system.” “So you think you and your group can just perform a coup d'état and that everyone will just accept it?” Clarence asked. “The majority of the city’s immediate population have been treating us as heroes and liberators. So on that end I’m not too worried. The question is how we are going to deal with the larger issue.” Many of the representatives scoffed or shook their heads at how casually this young upstart was treating the entire situation. They thought he clearly he had no feel for politics. Levesque: “So you believe you can come here and take place as mayor?” Lance: “For all intents and purposes I already have. And if any of you or your communities have the ability to challenge that, please go right ahead.” At this no one said a word, but most of them gave him a sour look. They knew full well that Montreal held more influence and populace than all their communities combined. And that regardless of how little experience this soldier had in politics, he had the general public’s support. “Now… we have matters that need to be brought forth right away.” He fiddled around with an intercom sitting on the table for a bit before the projector screen behind him came to life. “This is Bagotville CFB, former Canadian Airforce Base.” “What does this have to do with the inter-communal cooperation you supposedly called us here for?” asked Carson. “I’m getting to that, please don’t interrupt.” Lance said, continuing his little presentation. “The base held over a dozen CF-18s at Canada’s declaration of anarchy, and according to our intelligence these fighters were never officially relocated or removed.” Carson: “Intelligence, what intelligence?” Levesque: “Wait, from what we had heard the Canadian government handed over all vehicles over to the Rebel nation.” Lance: “All space vehicles yes, but there still remain many military assets that are just sitting in now abandoned military bases stretched out across the countryside.” Activating the next image, he continued. “According to trusted sources, we know that an unidentified group has removed pairs of these fighters on 3 separate occasions over the last 2 months.” With that he shut off the projector and added bluntly, “And we intend to stop them from continuing this theft of Canadian assets.” The assembled group simply stared at him for a bit until the Trois-Rivière representative let out a laugh and said, “What? You’ve risen a standing army in the last 4 days, which you intend to send off into battle?” Sighing, Lance answered with a notable touch of annoyance, “My… band of revolutionaries, as you so kindly put it, will be able to handle whoever it is that’s been taking the jets. All we need from you is your cooperation and the permission for our forces to move through your lands undisturbed.” Before they could reply though, he immediately sweetened the deal. “Oh and as I’m sure you’ve noted, since taking control we have re-opened the ports and markets of Montreal. If you cooperate, yours will be amongst the first communities with which we re-establish trade routes.” Even the least enthusiastic amongst the representatives admitted that this deal showed promise. All they really had to do was stay out of the way while the Montrealers did some fighting, and in return they were guaranteed a new set of trade routes. Lance “Our intent is, and always has been to re-establish a working system for our common country.” Levesque nodded slowly, before standing up to shake Lance’s hand, “We will be sending you our reply shortly. Thank you for seeing us mister mayor.”
  4. (OOC: Those who feel like making a reply can consider that their nation's network received the signal. You can either post a response to the immediate signal, or to the events that are going to develop over the next few days. Basically, Lance will be the senior surviving officer of this liberation movement, which will place him as the new mayor of Montreal. The city is going to re-open it's doors and start trying to help the refugees instead of persecuting them. The way I see things developing, each little city-state will try to carve a little nation of it's own, with some of the larger exterior nations butting in here and there. I can't write up a full IC post right now, but Montreal is going to use the Saint Lawrence river to preform trade and take in resources needed.)
  5. Lance put his handgun onto the table near the entrance as he stepped into the apartment. Several other freedom fighters were present, each of them with a troubled past. Each with a reason to want the current way of things to change, hopefully for the better. But it can only get better… “Hey Lance.” Clark asked as he pulled open the weapon, “Run into any trouble?” Lance: “What?” “You’re a little light,” Clark said, gesturing to the 2 missing bullets. “You know how strict the boss is with that stuff.” Lance: “It was nothing, just a little… altercation on the way here.” “Just keep your head down man,” Clark added before placing the handgun into a large box, filled to the brim with firearms. “We don’t want thing to fall apart so close to the end.” “I will…” he replied, stepping into the main room. A large table was there, with detailed plans to several key municipal establishments, including the mayor’s fortress. Pulling his shopping bag up onto the table, Lance rummaged through it, beneath the bread bags and milk carton, and pulled out a set of careful wrapped papers. “Access codes, guard time-shifts, their radio-frequencies. Everything we need.” “Good, run into any trouble?” The man who had spoken was Richard Stevens, a tall fearsome man that some said had once been a general, or something crazy like that. He was by default the leader of their organization. It was him that would lead them into battle. “Nothing I can’t handle sir.” “Hmm, be careful Rockland. One way or another, it ends tomorrow night.” - - - Lance gasped for breath as he ran down the hall, the sound of gunshots still resonating behind him. He felt a warm trickling along his face, and a check with his hand revealed it was blood. No time to worry about it. “He’s a mad man, that son of a !@#$%* put land-mines in his own main yard…” Lance thought with rage as he continued along the mission, alone. The team had been caught completely unprepared as the ground beneath the first 2 units exploded underneath them. He had to finish this himself, but even alone he knew the way to the mayor’s private office. Lance knew were to find him. Suddenly there was a great shout, and Lance saw Stevens punch a guard across the jaw, sending him tumbling against the wall. He must have lost his gun in the action, but that didn’t seem to be slowing him down. He jumped onto the guard and with a sickening snap his body went limp. Lance was about to go congratulate his comrade and help him up when he spotted two more guards coming from the other way. “Sir! Look out.” he shouted as he raised his own rifle. But he didn’t act quickly enough as the guards cut Stevens down, ripping at least 7 shots into him. Lance avenged his leader promptly, but set his rifle down to help Stevens. “Sir, come on. We have a mission remember?” He was yanked by the collar so hard it hurt, as Stevens managed to utter out, “LEAVE me! Complete the mission!” He gestured to one of his pockets, and Lance pulled out a small card. “Access codes… to the secure networks. Spread the word… we won.” He didn’t say anything after that. Lance didn’t shed a tear, he took the card and continued on his way. 3 more guards stood in his way, but they didn’t stop him. When he finally stepped into the mayor’s private chambers he wasn’t all that surprised. Luxury fit for a prince, with a scrambling mess of a man sitting at a ridiculously large solid oak desk. Lance didn’t leave him time to defend himself or explain. A single bullet between the eyes, and it was over. - - - Whether any of his men were still alive, he didn’t know. But the gun shots had stopped. He hadn’t tried to escape, he had a friend’s dying wish to complete. The broadcast room was built into mayor’s headquarters, in the sub levels. He had probably wished to assert control over the city without risking his own neck. But Lance saw now what Stevens had meant. The equipment here had the ability to access other cities, and networks across the world. All he needed was the proper access codes. He slid the data-card into a slot in the main control-table and the red light of the camera went on automatically. He briefly considered cleaning himself up or something, but he didn’t care at this point. The actions they had accomplished tonight would be seen as a heroic liberation, or a terrorist act. And having a clean face wouldn’t do much to change those opinions. Stepping into view of the camera, Lance stared right into it. “I killed Mayor Bolter tonight, his oppressive and selective regime has ended. Montreal will see a new morning, and be the better for it, of that I assure you.” He hadn’t written a speech, he couldn’t think of anything else to say, so he simply added, “To all Montrealers, and indeed, all former citizens of Canada who might be listening. Things are going to be hard for the next months. But have hope, they will get better.”
  6. Ok, but if he was here first and he really wants his lands back I doubt there's much I can do. I will PM him though to see what his thoughts are on the matter.Worst comes to worst, I will change the story. Instead of happening in Montreal, it will happen in Lynneth's former capital, Ferinh I think it's called. I'm pretty sure it's located outside of Ottawa's former lands. And mainly I would just like to tell a story in Quebec. Montreal would be fun (I live there in real life), but Ferinh would do.
  7. Ideally... yea. Unless that Ottawa guy voices an objection. Also sorry if the rebellion was unexpected. It's just that when he departed from Canada, Lynneth described the resulting cities would be in a state of Anarchy. I figured... add to that tough Canadian winters, it wouldn't be too long before people started to turn on each other. Feel free to add in some involvement from your nations acting as protectorate-ers. But also, please try not to just send in a 10.000 strong army to set everything right. I'd like to... play with this scenario a bit more.
  8. It's more exciting this way, I figure. And yes, I'll start off with Montreal.
  9. The man walked down the street while a brisk wind swept between the tall buildings on either side. A steaming coffee in his right hand, and a bag full of groceries in his left, Lance Rockland appeared to all observers to be quite ordinary. The night was going to be a cold one, and he was glad that he had a place to go. This thought reminded him of the reality of the situation though, and he had but to look up to see the countless homeless peoples huddling in the streets. This is what anarchy brings us… Along his way he stopped by a small crowd that had formed around a TV shop, the store had set up a series of out-door speakers and the main large screen was displaying a news report which showed a familiar map on the backdrop. “The situation worsened in the former Canadian region last week when a sudden malfunction at the Forbes nuclear power plant caused a series of repercussions throughout the electric network. Repairs were slowly moving along, but yesterday they stopped altogether. The several, now lawless, cities of the former nation had entered a general agreement of non-aggression and mutual cooperation when it was decided to end Canada as the world had come to know it. The system had worked well enough for the first year, but with dwindling resources and a deterioration of the judicial system, the former country’s infrastructure has been seeing increasing neglect. Forbes seems to have been a tipping point though, as several more cities are beginning to close their doors to outsiders. Some have even gone as far as to blockade infrastructure routes and hoard their resources from the rest of the network. With winter coming along, several communities are beginning to worry that they will not have enough power to keep warm, and the mood here is getting desperate. Chief aid to the mayor of…” The explosion was so sudden it even caught Lance off guard, he was thrown back onto the sidewalk as screams picked up around him. The rioters who had thrown the make-shift explosive where storming the store, grabbing what they could, when Lance saw one of the looters grab for a woman’s purse. She tried to stop him and that's when he pulled out a knife. Acting on instinct, lance pulled out his handgun, it’s built in silencer whispering twice before the knife wielding man fell to the ground, dead. Quickly picking up his bag he helped the shaken woman to her feet and helped her to move away from the developing riot. After about a block he let her go, leaning her against a wall and began to walk away. She looked at him leave with fear in his eyes, and managed to utter out, “Wait… you can’t just leave. You saved my life.” He paused, feeling a pity for the woman, but he barely turned as he said, “I’m not a person you want to involve yourself with. It’s safer for you this way.” He then took off into the deepening night. In the distance the police sirens began to scream. A sound that had become increasingly common over the last 3 years. - - - Declaration of Anarchy, that’s what people generally called it. And I still laugh at the notion we voted for this ourselves. We wanted it, and we got it. It’s when the spirit of good and fair cooperation disappears that you begin to see true human nature. Survival of the fittest. And the biggest cities seemed to think they had the most right to survive. The Sky City had become a nation in and of itself, completely closed off and ignorant of the suffering happening outside it’s shining walls. Montreal too had been one of the first to shut itself off. But that didn’t stop thousands of refugees to sneak in by any way they could. The city had an estimated 10 million people living in it by now. The island of Montreal possessed several still functioning nuclear plants. More than enough to heat all the homes and more. But the mayor didn’t care. When the declaration had come he, like so many other municipal leaders, had decided that they were the boss now. They were the kings. Only a select few were allowed access to the river and the resources it brough, according to them. And if the rest of Canada died off, so be it. It’s no wonder riots had been breaking out all over town. But a riot is an inefficient way to spark change. You need to strike at the source. The mayor’s office had become a practical fortress, but we had soldiers among our own ranks that had seen and overcome far worse odds. I know I’m scared, probably more so than I’ve ever been. But I also no I won’t hesitate when the time comes. If someone ever finds this diary I guess it will be a testament to a moment in history. Either way, I don’t expect to return to fetch it when tomorrow comes. The time of the tyrant is over, now comes the time of the people.
  10. Yea... I moved pretty quickly after he told me that. nation RPs are Ok... but getting to play as quebec? That's just the icing on the cake. It's like... there's more icing than cake! And eating it all will give me a tummy ache. You know?...
  11. I concure, with a name like Ottawa it would make perfect sense for him to be based in Ontario. I understand he was here first and all, but I would really like to play in Quebec. Particularly because I already created my nation. My ruler is EdwardWolf, and my nation name is Greater Quebec. http://www.cybernations.net/nation_drill_d...ation_ID=335329
  12. OK, so the mod I've been speaking to told me he will change my forum name to the new ruler of my nation. That ruler will be called EdwardWolf, and the nation will be known as Greater Quebec. I would have settled for just Quebec, but some cheapskate took it.
  13. I don't know... I just find it wierd that the computer is able to remember my account name, but it also allowed some random other guy to create another account using the same name. I was here first... But yea, are we sure this other guy isn't just my first account? Is there no way to check if he's inactive? Can I contact him without accessing the game itself?
  14. Ok, well then I can make an account using another name... and then call my nation Athos I suppose. I was hoping to call it Montreal or Quebec. But if I have no other choice it will just have to do. I posted a request for help in the Q&A, if they can't help me I'll try and use a new E-mail... which I really hate doing.
