  1. Come join Vanguard, we're good people.
  2. The dubious joys of having overenthusiastic subordinates.
  3. What distinguishes serious cardboard from un-serious cardboard?
  4. Say what? I'd send you a recruiting message, but I don't want to get kicked for poaching high-ranking members of another alliance.
  5. Though I don't make a habit of commenting unless I can offer constructive feedback, I enjoy reading this blog and check for updates whenever I sign onto the forums, which at the moment is pretty much daily. It's a nice resource for new players, perhaps particularly for the unaligned who are unable to take advantage of a more experienced member's guides. As you've noted in responses to feedback in the past, this also is good for raising awareness of and interest in trade circles and tech dealing, which benefit everyone. I hesitate to suggest other topics because I don't know how much of your economy work you'd like to post in public versus how much you'd like to keep to your alliance. Environment effects is my own favorite mechanics topic and I've worked on it a fair amount, but since it seems to be less widely understood than improvement swapping, sledding, and trade circle strategy, I'm not sure whether you'd want to discuss it on the community boards. Likewise, I'd be interested in your thoughts on improvement and wonder purchase order, to see how your opinion matches up with my alliance's guides if nothing else. I'll keep thinking. But please do continue with this blog, it's a valuable resource and a pleasure to read. Thanks for sharing your ideas.
  6. Vanguard's gotten several new members lately. Hopefully we'll continue this trend.
  7. Thanks for bumping our thread. I've enjoyed reading yours.
  8. Heh. I'm not that into RHCP, truth be told. Bring on the Tom Petty and John Mellencamp. (I'd say don't judge, but I think most of the usual stereotypes probably apply to me.) That said, I listen to it enough because some of my friends are fans, and I do an enthusiastic but terrible "Dani California" rendition when the mood strikes. I started with Springsteen (along with a substantial sector of the New York City population as of 2001) when The Rising came out about six years ago. Later on I got into some of his older music, and so far as I've got a single favorite album these days, Born to Run is it.
  9. On the up side, Journey no longer is stuck in my head. On the down side, it's been replaced with various Springsteen and RHCP "under the bridge" songs.
  10. Streetlight people living just to find emotion, hiding somewhere in the night...
  11. A singer in a smoky room, a smell of wine and cheap perfume...
  12. She took the midnight train going anywhere...
  13. Heh. I suppose I walked into that one. As always, thanks for your supportive words for Vanguard. I'm sorry to see you leave, I've enjoyed watching your nation grow.
  14. Bringing my seriousity to this thread, since Magnum always seems to bring his to ours.
  15. Interesting. Not least because I've always been exceptionally curious about where people here line up politically in real life. I would find it difficult to condemn anyone who supports his or her purported beliefs with peaceful action; certainly QTUN is no exception. Don't open the door for me to talk about Fred Phelps. (I hate being at my most serious in the recruiting topic. But somehow it seems to happen at least once a page!)
  16. Hmm... I did have Lars pegged for a kind of shady character... but QTUN too?!
  17. The logic here is overwhelming. Once again I'm startled to learn the truth about these folks I call my alliance.
  18. Got my first snow of the year today.
