  1. Well, I can honestly say that I've met some of the best people that I've ever met on this game. The only difference is that we take the time to see each other RL too. For example, James Maximus and I always hang out between our birthdays, around christams, and whenever I get bored enough to make the three hour drive. I think that once you trust a person enough to meet them in person, your relationship, most of the time, only gets stronger, because you've spent so much time learning their personality. Not many people who meet IRL do this.

Note:: There ARE exceptions. Some people are just plain creepy IRL.

  2. Glad to see this end well.

How, exactly, was mhawk not reasonable?

He directed TPF FA (read:me) to get together with NEW, ZDP and TOP and see if a diplomatic solution could be worked out. After talking with Crymson for a bit, then talking with our MADP allies in NEW, the three raiders offered peace. (It was literally a three minute conversation with yoyo, these are really great people and not devious, posturing, pot stirrers)

Then in a conversation with BK, where he was informed that peace was sent, I was told it would not be accepted without reparations of some kind. Negotiations continue.

Several other individuals and alliances become involved, rumors swirl, and mhawk uses the most rapid and effective mode of communication available to clarify our stance on the matter, just in case anyone was confused.

    Seems fairly reasonable to me.

....and to all the others in mhawks thread who were shouting about how TPF should of had a conversation with IAA before he posted, we did. Hi Brandon.

You forgot the part where I needed to stay up till 1 AM listening to Crymson and mhawk debate about how to fix this whole thing and get peace. I hate being a call host.

    /me grumbles.

  3. I would join with wheat and sugar, but I've found in the past that it's difficult to find combinations of aluminum, lumber, iron. Most of the trade circles I've tried to join have been stuck on that. You might be better off without me and splitting aluminum and lumber. But you can put my name down if you want ;)

    I'll find it. ;)

  4. I find this topic highly amusing. How ironic that TSI's newly-apointed Minister of Internal Affairs left TSI to join TKTB today....XDDD

I'm sure TSI will find a replacement for Adam soon, no doubt.

Regardless, congrats to TSI and to the almighty Shurukian. May her destructiveness, and b-e-a-utiness know no bounds :)

    \o/

Newly appointed? He's been in the position for months. Don't run your mouth when you know nothing.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes!

So, a few weeks ago we voted to approve a new Constitution. We actually voted it in the same day that TPF posted theirs, so we had to be the cool kids that were casually late to the party and post it… a few weeks later.

Well, actually we were just kind of filling up all the new Government spots. This new Constitution restructured our Gov, so I had to appoint a few new people. Let me tell you, I don’t know what it is about recruitment. You’d think that the position has herpes or something. Soooo, without further adieu, here’s our new Constitution. Oh, and there's the flag in it, but I didn't want to be stupid and put it twice, so I took it out of the constitution in this post. I didn't think ya'll would mind too much.

There's a TL;DR at the bottom. I dare you to read it/click it.

    Preamble

“All great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom; justice; honor; duty; mercy; hope.”

    Article I - Ideals

The Sasori Initiative does not believe in Nuclear First Strike, Eternal ZI or Permanent ZI as a form of punishment. We believe in the freedom of speech for all members and the duty of assisting our fellow citizens through any and all means possible. We, the members of the Sasori Initiative, are committed to the upholding of these ideals.

    Article II - Citizenship

All nations are free to apply to The Sasori Initative, but must uphold the ideals to be accepted. To become a citizen of the Sasori Initiative, the applicant must change his or her or her Alliance Affiliation (AA) to “The Sasori Initiative”. The applicant must not be a member of any other alliance, nor have any outstanding debts (financial, tech or otherwise) or ongoing offensive conflicts with other alliances. The Imperial Office reserves the right to deny entry to nations that have committed acts of nuclear terrorism (defined as being a "nuke rogue"). Applicants may be required to submit to a written examination for the purposes of assessing their understanding of the Initiative's constitution and laws as the discretion of the Imperial Office.

    Rights of the Citizenry

All citizens will be afforded the protection of the Initiative as long as they uphold the Initiative's Ideals. All citizens shall be afforded the right to leave the Initiative without fear of reprisal once they have settled any outstanding financial or tech debts with the Initiative. It is left to the discretion of the Imperial Office as to whether or not said nation has debts to settle. All citizens shall be afforded the right of free speech both in public and in private and the ability to question the leaders of the Initiative about information.

    Obligations of the Citizenry

All citizens are expected to fight in defense of the Initiative should it be attacked. It is expected that citizens of the Initiative will follow the directives of the Imperial Office and the Ministers and, in the event that they disagree, handle their dispute in a respectable and responsible manner. Citizens are highly encouraged to participate in the inner workings of the alliance including general elections and the discussion of new legislation and amendments as well as new ideas for the Initiative.

    Removal of a Citizen

In the event that a citizen violates the ideals of the Sasori Initiative, commits acts of espionage against the Initiative or continually defies the directives of the Imperial Office or the Ministers that citizen will be expelled from the Initiative and denied the protections this document provides. Should the former citizen continue to attempt to shelter under the Initiative’s AA they shall be declared a Ghost and shall be treated as a hostile target.

Article III - The Imperial Office

The Emperor or Empress is the single leader and the Ruler of The Sasori Initiative. It is his or her responsibility to conduct the day to day affairs of the Alliance including overseeing defense, recruitment, aid programs and the operation of the government. The Emperor or Empress shall serve until they wish to step down from the post or are removed from the post in the process stated below.

    Powers of the Imperial Office

The Emperor or Empress is granted the authority to appoint members to lead the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Internal Affairs, Economics, and Recruitment. The Emperor or Empress has the power to delegate responsibilities to the appropriate Ministries and to dismiss a Minister if they are not performing in a satisfactory manner. It is solely within the Emperor's or Empress' purview to determine if a Minister has failed to perform up to the expected standards. The Emperor or Empress is empowered to override the decision of a Minister at any time and, should the need exist in their opinion, assume partial or full responsibility of that Ministry. The Emperor or Empress has the authority to veto proposed amendments to the Constitution.

The Imperial Office, with the assent of the Office of the Shogun and the Office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, may issue a declaration of war against a foreign power and/or extend that foreign power terms of peace. The specifics of any terms or conditions in these declarations are left to the sole authority of the Imperial Office.

    Resignation or Removal

The Emperor or Empress may resign from his or her position at any time for any reason they see fit. At the time of resignation, the Apprentice will take the position of Emperor or Empress. This will be done after a one month minimum training period of the Apprentice, or immediately in the event of an emergency. If the Emperor or Empress resigns, and the Apprentice position is empty, then an election will be held for seventy-two (72) hours or until sixty percent (60%) of the alliance membership has voted, whichever is sooner. The candidate with the most votes once the Election is closed will be appointed to the position of Emperor or Empress.

If it is felt that there is a pressing need, the Emperor or Empress may be removed in the case of inactivity, or acting negatively in the interests of the Initiative. To do so, the Ministers must come to a unanimous vote to remove the Emperor or Empress. At this point, the decision will be turned over to the membership of the initiative, and a 96 hour voting period must be held. The vote will be open until 75% vote in favor to remove is reached, or the 96 hour period is over, whichever is later. A 75% majority is necessary to end the removal process. If a 75% majority is reached, the Apprentice will take the position of Emperor or Empress as soon as the vote is completed. If there is no Apprentice, then a membership vote will be held, as outlined above.

    Article IV - The Apprentice

The Apprentice is the Heir to the throne, and a training position for the future Emperor or Empress. The current Emperor or Empress will appoint an Apprentice when they have made the decision to pass on the title, and step down. The Apprentice will retain his or her position for at least a month before he or she is able to take the position of Emperor or Empress. During this month long period, the Emperor or Empress will provide training to the Apprentice, such as introducing him or her to allies, getting him or her acquainted with all sections of the forums, and familiarizing him or her with the responsibilities of the leadership role. The Apprentice may resign his post at any time.

    Article V - The Ministers

Ministers are appointed and dismissed solely by the Imperial Office unless otherwise noted. The Ministers are empowered to act within their job duties.

    The Current Ministries are:

    The Ministry of Defense

While the Imperial Office retains the title of Commander-in-Chief of the SIDF, the military arm of the Initiative is overseen by the Shogun who serves as the Chief of Staff. The Shogun is charged with the handling of any and all matters directly pertaining to the defense of the Initiative including, but not limited to, military attacks on citizens by enemies foreign and domestic, counter-espionage actions in defense of the Initiative and its operational security, broadcasting of alliance-wide messages, oversight of any and all attacks launched by citizens of the Initiative and the organization of the SIDF including the induction, promotion and demotion of soldiers. The Shogun is free to appoint a Deputy to perform any responsibilities he or she feels necessary.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Foreign Affairs is charged with the oversight of all ambassadorial staff and activities within the Initiative including any and all members assigned as diplomats to other alliances. In the event of work on a treaty with another alliance the Minister of Foreign Affairs is empowered to take charge of any negotiations being conducted by a diplomat for the purpose of coordinating more closely with the Imperial Office. The Minister of Foreign Affairs is free to appoint a Deputy to perform any responsibilities he or she feels necessary.

    The Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Ministry of Internal Affairs exists as an overseer of the internal functioning of the alliance, and a source of information and reference materials for the Initiative as a whole. The Minister of Internal Affairs is charged with the oversight of the Ministries of Economics and Recruitment, and the production and maintenance of any guides or informational resources. The Minister of Internal Affairs should also serve as a resource-in-person both on IRC and the forums for the purposes of answering questions posed by the citizenry. The Minister of Internal Affairs is free to appoint a Deputy to perform any responsibilities he or she feels necessary.

    -The Ministry of Economics

The Ministry of Economics, overseen by the Minister of Internal Affairs, is responsible for the development of nations in the forms of aid, tech, trades, and other monetary issues. The Minister of Economics is charged with assisting citizens in establishing stable trade circles for the purposes of ensuring growth and development for their nations as well as the arming of said nations with nuclear weapons through the acquisition of uranium trades. The Minister of Economics is also charged with the establishment of tech deals for citizens of the Initiative (one-by-one and three-by-three deals), the development and implementation of aid programs to assist citizens of the Initiative in the growth of their nations, and the handling of any and all settling of debts owed on the part of the Initiative to another alliance. The Minister of Economics is free to appoint a Deputy to perform any responsibilities he or she feels necessary.

    -The Ministry of Recruitment

Operated by the Minister of Recruitment and overseen by the Minister of Internal Affairs, this Ministry is tasked with the writing and distribution of recruitment messages in an effort to bring new citizens to the Initiative. The Minister of Recruitment is specifically empowered to form a recruitment staff from within the ranks of the alliance for the purposes of increasing the distribution of messages and shall, upon request, verify the referral of any and all new recruits to the alliance to the Imperial Office. The Minister of Recruitment is free to appoint a Deputy to perform any responsibilities he or she feels necessary.

The Powers of the Ministers Regarding Bills and Treaties

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Shogun are each given one (1) vote for the purpose of approving or denying treaties with foreign powers. The Imperial Office shall hold the power of two (2) votes. There must be a majority for the treaty to pass.

The Minister of Internal Affairs and the closest Ministry affected by the proposed bill are each given one (1) vote for the purpose of approving or denying new bills governing the conduct of the Initiative. The Imperial Office shall hold the power of two (2) votes. The Imperial Office will determine which Ministry is most closely affected, and will allow that Minister to vote on the bill. There must be a majority for the bill to come into effect.

Article VI - Mergers and Dissolution

It is understood that, from time to time, alliances can join together to join larger organizations or can become defunct due to reduced membership, internal inactivity or other factors. As the Sasori Initiative is an alliance founded on the principle of choice for the common member, it is understood that such drastic actions must take place only at the behest of the popular sentiment. In order for the Initiative to 1) merge into or accept the merger of another alliance or 2) officially dissolve and retire the name and flag of the alliance a vote of the general membership must take place. Should 2/3 of the general membership vote in favor, the Ministers of the alliance vote in favor and the Imperial Office give its assent, the merger or dissolution shall take place immediately.

    Article VII - Amendments

It is recognized that as the political environment changes and the Initiative grows, amendments to this Constitution may be needed. Amendments may be drafted, posted and discussed by any member or group of members in the alliance in the private sections of the forum. A vote on the amendment may be called by the author(s) at any time and will last for seventy-two (72) hours. A vote of two-thirds (2/3) in favor is needed for the amendment to be passed to the Imperial Office for final approval. Should the Imperial Office give final approval to the amendment, it shall be immediately incorporated into the Constitution.

    Athens/KofN

  7. Your whole premise was that Athens could get away with a zero reps sum. Seeing as Athens and KoN! had already agreed on a sum prior to you posting then the only way zero reps would come about was if KoN! agreed to it. Hence I asked you why you'd be so upset by zero reps taking that into account. You said you'd accept that decision from KoN! and by doing that your hypothetical became irrelevant.

After that you lashed out at me with wild claims about me wanting unquestioning praise of Athens and me wanting people who are not involved in an issue not to post. Both of which were false and nothing more than hyperbole.

A sum does not mean it is a positive sum. We've been over this. Zero is still a figure.

And I did not lash out at you. It was a response to your claim that since I was uninvolved, I should not post. By that comment, only involved parties could post. Since KoN is silent, that would leave only Athens and their allies, therefore being a thread of support.

  8. And I pointed out how your "possibility" was nonsense.

Someday you will stick to a topic rather than making another one up when cornered in an argument. You said you did not care what Athens did which is why I asked why you would post in the manner you have and why you'd be so horrified by what has played out in this discussion. There seems to be some sort of logical disconnect there.

Again, more histrionics devoid of a point. Hypotheticals are fine up to the point where they are shown to irrelevant nonsense. I pointed out how your hypothetical was nonsense and you conceded as much so I'm not sure why you are still arguing about it.

Excuse me? Cornered in an argument? How in the world was I cornered? You asked me what would be a situation in which there were no reps which I would be upset with, if KoN had agreed. I responded to your question. You took it completely out of context by assuming that I was upset with Athen's actions, rather than how ridiculous this perpetuated thread has been. And hypotheticals as the the amount is all there is right now, as one hasn't been announced. Even thinking there is an amount is hypothetical, as one hasn't been presented. Show me how my point is more of 'irrelevant nonsense' than yours.

Arguing with you is just tiresome.

  9. Haha, your whole argument was based around the horror of the agreed sum being zero. When I asked you what your problem would be if KoN! had agreed to zero reps you said you'd accept that decision. So, in essense, your argument was nonsense. You told me nothing about what was acceptable and what wasn't. Athens have already stated an agreement has been reach with KoN! to which you speculated over it being zero reps. At least try and maintain some consistency in what you are saying.

All I can say to this is: No, it absolutely was not. It had nothing to do with them being zero. I simply raised the possibility of them being zero. my 'horror' at this thread was simply the conduct in, which it seems you're just adding to.

And yet more hystrionic nonsense. If you don't care what they are doing why bother discussing it. You clearly do care as you expressed your disgust at the thread in its entirity. A healthy discussion is fine and if you have any evidence where I have claimed that Athens is the shining beacon of wonderful hope then feel free to post the supporting evidence. A healthy discussion requires facts, logic and the ability of those taking part to take in information to form an informed opinion.

What exactly of your post was informed opinion? The bit where you ignored that an agreement had been reached? The part where you made up a hypothetical case of zero reps that was nonsense in light of the fact the agreement between KoN! and Athens had been reached meaning a zero reps scenario would have been agreed to by KoN!? Or was it the part where you departed from your original argument once I pointed out it was nonsense and began shrieking like a banshee about what your perceive I wanted from this discussion?

I was under the impression that this was a place for discussion. If all of us ignored what didn't apply to us, nothing would ever happen here. Are you saying you only post in topics directly related to you? Because, funny, I don't see this related to you in any way at all. You're simply doing exactly what I'm doing, and arguing the other side of what I am.

And I never saw the post where hypothetical are illegal. What a big bad person I am. I didn't depart from my original argument at all, you simply misinterpreted what my argument was even about. That is not my fault.

  10. That kind of takes the wind out of the sails of your original complaint, doesn't it.

No, it doesn't, because I'm not approaching this like a raging pitbull. You asked what my reaction would be, and since I don't usually think in all fire and brimstone, I told you in which ways that situation would be acceptable, and which ways it would not. I'm sorry that I actually took your question as a logical one. I didn't realize you were looking for a hotheaded answer.

Perhaps Athens are enjoying toying with those sticking their noses in where it is not needed. To me it seems a large proportion of people complaining here really only have a desire to score points off Athens and won't let fact or logic get in the way of that aim. Even to the point of obvious speculation, such as yours, to sate their need to find something to complain about.

I don't really care what they're doing, in that regard. They can announce it whenever they feel like. The longer they wait, the longer this thread will get. A healthy discussion involves ideas and points from both sides. If you'd like this game to be boring, I'm sure a thread all about how Athens is a shining beacon of wonderful hope would have been what you were looking for. I don't prefer a 30 page war of words, but occasionally, I feel the need to express my opinion, which I rarely do. I apologize.

  11. If KoN! agreed to a figure of zero then what grounds would you have to complain about that?

If they had agreed to a figure of zero, and KoN's leaders posted to accompany such a decision, then I'd be dissapointed in KoN, but I'd accept the outcome.

However, judging with how 'inactive' Athens claims KoN is, I would consider this possibility to have outrageous odds, and therefore is completely unlikely. Athens has changed their story three times in this thread (at least, I couldn't keep count), be it sarcasm or not, so forgive me if I hesitate to give them my unconditional trust on the matter.

  12. They have agreed on the amount and will commence sending soon. Locke already conceded he didn't read the post stating the amount had been agreed so you really are wasting your time trying to make something of nothing.

Has anyone thought of the possibility that the figure agreed on might simply be zero? With Rsox's previous posts laughing about people who thought they'd actually pay, I wouldn't find it that hard to believe.

With that said, this has to be the most despicable thread I've ever seen on these forums. I don't even think I could start on how reading this made me feel like I need to take a long shower.

  14. So you wouldn't pay reparations if you raided a non-Red team TMF member? Great to know.

I think it's fairly obvious what was meant. Of course they'd pay reps. However, they wouldn't be attacking one o TMF's members in the first place.

If they wrote a constitution to cover every loophole imagined, we'd be reading something the size of a small novel. Some of it, you just need to leave to interpretation and regular common sense.
