Or you could actually read my freaking post where I point out that individual alliances can claim that for their internal policy if they wish, however they are not bound to it and can not claim as such.

FYI, whether or not the actual text supports it, people can believe whatever they want about how binding WUT is. If all of WUT wants to say it supersedes everything else, then that is how it's gonna work, no matter what you say is the "truth."

Alright, as one of the founding members of the Initiative, and as one of the folks responsible for its creation, I feel I need to address this theory that WUT somehow supersedes all other treaties. This is false. No where in the treaty is this stated. If individual alliances wish to treaty the WUT as superseding other treaties, they certainly can, however that is their own decision and not something that binds them. The New Polar Order never did while we were signatory to it. We have always held the Ordinance of the Order, and the Drinking Buddies treaties in much higher regard and importance.

That's funny because I seem to recall many WUT people saying that WUT did supersede all other treaties in past incidents.

It must only work that way when you want it to.

NPO is a significant figure in WUT so it is logical to assume that what they decide might have some bearing on what their allies decide to do. Also, arbitrarily ascribing confusion to people is bad, m'kay?

so you are saying that you think NPO would break a treaty? On what do you base that assumption?

If this war actually kicks off like many are thinking it will, breaking treaties is going to be a necessity. Unless all the alliances involved wanted to split themselves in half and start warring each other.

It wouldn't just be UJP--- it would also be WUT. Remember, NpO is no longer a member.

I just don't see NPO declaring war on its sister alliance. I'm thinking they would stay neutral before they do that.

I still think attacking an MDP partner of an Order when CN politics are how they are was foolish and reckless. Many alliances have taken slaps in the face by smaller alliances and held back in the interest of stability. Not doing so was careless, but I suppose these terms are generous, and I hope BotS takes them. It would be absurd to have BotS go down in the history books as the proximate cause of something epic.

One could argue that this occurred precisely in order to kick off "the next big war." Everyone knows there have been pretty significant tensions between certain parties (which is why everyone is practically in war mode). I can just see it now: NpO defends their protectorate; UJP MDP's in; all of NpO's buddies MDP in; tons of treaties are ignored/cancelled as people take sides; GPA lets everyone know they are, indeed, still neutral...
