Senator John McCain (R-AZ), has repeatedly said that the military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy (which allows gay/lesbian people to serve, provided they are not open about their sexuality) is working. Thus, according to him, it should be left in place. First of all, I have no idea what he means when he says it is working. Second, he is wrong, because it is not working. In a verbal confrontation between him and two reporters on September 21st, he said that DADT has not and is not used to actively seek out gay and lesbian service members (see the altercation
Well Senator McCain, meet Air Force Major Michael Almy. I could spell out his story for you all, but I think it would be better for you to hear it from his own mouth. He appeared on the Rachel Maddow Show and told his story (which can be seen HERE).
It is obvious that Senator McCain is patently unaware that DADT does not work, in a deep state of denial, just does not care to look up that facts, or is outright lying (or perhaps some combination thereof). Regardless of whichever case we are dealing with here, I personally have lost pretty much all respect for the man.
Deal with it Senator McCain, you are just plain WRONG.
