President Natas's announcement:

Today, our country is under attack. Our military has been dismantled by violent communist terrorists and they are spreading, bent on capturing the entire country. However, let this be known to everyone. This shall be one of our greatest challenges, but we can rise up to it and defeat it. I ask for every one of you to not shrink from your duty, but to help your country. Ask not what your country can do for you, ask yourself what you can do for your country.

-------------------------------------
CPMR condemns the communist terrorists:

The Communist Party of Midwest Republic had condemned the actions of the communist radicals. Frank Herm, the president of the CPMR, had stated; "Violence is never the answer. It only leads to destruction and misery. We have not supported, and shall never support the terrorists. We encourage the people of the Midwest Republic to rise up and stop the violent terrorists from taking power. If they can't prove that they can take power without violence, how are they going to avoid using violence to maintain their power?"

The next day, the Communist Party of Midwest Republic had announced they have formed a one-thousand soldiers militia to combat the terrorists.

-----------------------------------
Proposal to expand military funding:

President Natas had proposed that the "Military Expansion Act". It called for the military's budget being expanded from the current $10 million annual budget to $19.27 billion. He had stated; "By neglecting our military, the communist terrorists managed to overwhelm our military despite being vastly unprepared and unpopular. Our police forces and civilians did a better job of handling the miniature rebellion than the military for goodness sakes. If we do not rebuild our military, our people will continue to be at great risk."

MRCA surrenders:

The last of the terrorists stationed in Airlention Military Base had surrendered a few hours ago. All of their leaders were arrested, except for Kerla Vem. He is currently wanted by the Federal Police Agency.

Throughout the country, courts are preparing to press charges against thousands of suspects and arrested rebel soldiers.
-----------------------------------
Military Expansion Act passed:

The Legislative had approved the bill, 70 yes to 30 no and President Natas had ratified the bill. The bill had only been modified twice; annual funding for the military $19.27 billion was increased to $20.01 billion. It also formed a new agency within the Department of Defense to accelerate the military technology and allow the abandonment of obsolete technology, ATRA, Advanced Technology Research Agency.

Gunshot victims died due being unable to answer debt collector calls.

Three people were fatally gunned down by a mugger on March 11th, shortly after midnight in Detroit in an alley. George Marsh noticed the gunshots and helped the victims to his car after the mugger fled. He was unable to call for help as his cellphone was dead since a week ago and attempted to rush the victims to a hospital two miles away. However, about half a mile away, his car locked up.

The dealership, Jared Car Dealership, that sold him the car disabled it via GPS after he failed to answer the debt collector's calls for the past thirty minutes. George only owed one dollar due to short on his payments by mistake.

George attempted to seek for help, however, the victims died before the ambulance arrived. "I can't believe they would overreact over a single dollar, and now their overreaction had cost three innocent people's lives." George commented.

The dealership had refused to comment.

Northwest Debt Collection Corporation sued after harassing after family members died.

Sarah Fraknlien's family was nonexistent within three months. Two of her brothers, Danial, Jake and Dakota committed suicide, her parents, Grace and Frank were killed in an airplane accident, and the rest of her siblings, two sisters, Hanna and Emily, were killed in a house fire. She was only 19 years old, was in college to study law, and had little money like many other college students.

However, her parents, her brother Danial and Jake, and her sister, Hanna, owed various debts, a total of $10,000. Within a few hours after the last funeral service, February 2nd, she received a call from NDCC, demanding her to pay her family members' debts or face a lawsuit. She politely asked to be left alone for a few months and explained to the debt collector that her entire family of six were dead. Within a few minutes later, she received a call from a more angry sounding debt collector, threatening her with property liquidation, wage garnishments and imprisonment, all three illegal as Sarah did not have to pay the debts of deceased family members by law.

She received a total of 60 calls the same day, which then grew to a total of 9001 calls by the end of February, most of them were automated messages. "I think at one point, I sort of snapped. I got tired of placing ignore on dozens of different numbers and being stalked on Facebook by debt collectors pretending to be my friends' friends. I lost plenty of sleep and had to take sleeping pills, which didn't help as I had frequent nightmares of the debt collectors. I can't imagine who would be cruel enough to fuel stress that grieving people often suffer from." Sarah commented.

She decided put her law study to use by filing a lawsuit against NDCC. NDCC had refused to comment.

Chicago now has the world's worst air pollution level:

In the past several years, pollution levels had skyrocketed when heavy industry became heavily established and zoning ordinances and pollution control laws were severely weakened by the federal, state and local government. The particulate matter had shot up to 180 μg/m from 90 μg/m, extremely high for a city with only about 5 million residents. "Who the hell thought it was a bright idea to allow and build a 500 megawatt coal fired power plant next to Chicago's downtown area? Dressing it up with glass and making it look like a skyscraper isn't going to hide the black smoke!" an anonymous resident complained.

Not surprisingly, respiratory related health issues had also increased. Asthma had spiked by about 500% and lung cancer is expected to increase rapidly.

The CEO of MRFEC, Midwest Republic Fuel and Energy Corporation, had commented; "I don't see the so-called pollution harmful. I see it as money being made."

Hemorrhagic virus strain have struck Chicago, Midwest Republic is at DEFCON 1

The Midwest Republic Army had been deployed to Chicago to enforce the martial laws and quarantines as an attempt to control the outbreak. Six people have reported to have been infected, one died, and possibly more infected. The first cases were reported at Hope Hospital, which has over 10,000 patients over 500 staff members. The victims may arrived at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport after being infected in St. John in Commonwealth of Canada.

Midwest Republic lacks a centralized medical research department to coordinate the disease identification, control and treatment, which will hamper the control of the still-unknown virus strain.

Leaf Corporation caught red-handed:

LC had attempted to bribe some of the FPA's crime scene investigators to destroy evidences, but their plans were leaked by an anonymous double agent. President Natas responded to the attempting bribing; "How long will it take for them to wake up and realize that attempting to bypass the laws will only ensure their doom in the long run?"

ExIm under fire for poisoning water supply:

ExIm was charged with dumping thousands of tons of dioxins since before the 1st Midwest Republic Civil War, a class of highly toxic organic byproducts from burning or certain manufacturing, into open pits that had no containment measures. This allowed the dioxins to spread throughout the ground water and forced the EPRA to relocate dozens of thousands of residents away from area with contaminated water supply.

ExIm stated that dioxins' toxic effects on human life and the amount they dumped into the open pits were exaggerated.

It's worth noting that their former CEO Larry Lassie had died a few days ago from various health complications after consuming a lethal amount of dioxins about two years ago to demonstrate the harmlessness of dioxins.

Digital Pipeline, found innocent, then ended up back in court:

DP was found innocent of all charges by the jury, 12-0. Chicago Police Department was already on standby and immediately moved in when the results came out. A riot nearly formed but was suppressed before much damage could be done.

However, within thirty minutes after the jury's ruling, FTA had traced suspicious money trails from DP to all of the jury members and some of the prosecutors. The Federal Police Agency interviewed most of the juries and the suspect prosecutors and found enough evidences to back up FTA's suspicions, DP had attempted to buy its way out of the legal mess. A few of the suspected juries and prosecutors were missing, though a jury member was found dead in her apartment when FPA raided the building.

The 2nd Illinois Federal Court declared a mistrial and ordered DP to show up for a new case at June 10th, 1:00 PM. MRAG added two new charges against DP, jury tampering and another obstruction of justice.

DP stated that they did not bribe the jury and the prosecutors.

ExIm, MRFEC and KFC slammed with new charges:

After the recent incident with Digital Pipeline, the FTA and FPA paid much closer attention to the three businesses. It did not take long for them to find evidences of jury, witness, judge and prosecutor tampering, such as bribery or death threats. The MRAG pressed additional charges against ExIm, MRFEC and KFC.

1st Illinois Federal Court, 2nd Michigan Federal Court and 1st Wisconsin Federal Court ordered the cases to be delayed in order to replace corrupted juries, witnesses and judges. MRAG is also replacing some of their prosecutors. FPA is offering witness protection for all juries, witnesses, judges and prosecutors.

MRFEC files lawsuit against a group of residents, for the "theft" of natural gas

During 1:49 PM, June 9th, 2011, a gas line exploded in Monticello, Il. The explosion occured at Country Farm Road bordering Appletree Dr. Local residents reported the issue to the fire department and MRFEC. Grace Jason, one of the local residents, was jogging next to the road when the explosion took place and lost her life.

While the fire department rushed in to put out the fire, MRFEC refused to turn off the gas. They didn't turn it off for over 24 hours, long after the firefighters had put out the flames. They mailed the local residents informing that they were responsible for the "theft" of the natural gas.

Here's one of their mails:

The 1st Illinois Federal Court threw the case out within seconds after hearing both sides' testimonies. Judge Thomas Frank stated; "Midwest Republic Fuel and Energy Corporation, like everyone, are suppose to take full responsibility for any damages. Instead, MRFEC acted irrationally and attempted to pin the blame on bystanders, even the victims, potentially inflicting additional emotional harm on the victims that lost a family member or friend and headache for the people who had to make an obvious ruling on this case."

Digital Pipeline filed for bankruptcy after being found guilty:

DP was convicted of all charges pressed by MRAG and FCA. 2nd Illinois Federal Court ordered DP to provide 200% refund to all customers that can prove that they were scammed and pay the government a total of $50 billion for attempting to monopolize the internet sector, corrupting government members and assisting attempted 1st degree murder of President Natas. The court also ordered DP to be broken up into the original ISPs that DP bought within six months.

DP stated that they are not in a position to pay the refunds, fines and breaking up.

They have also announced that they're restructuring their network plans. Details are sketchy, but it has been confirmed that their $300 monthly plan's 5 GB cap has been lowered to 20 MB. Large amount of customers protested, especially when it came to updating their computers (Window SP1 update requires over 800 MB). DP responded on their website; "You can always upgrade your plan."
