Marscurian Judaism

Demographics
Adherents: ~3,000,000
Percentage of Population: 88%
Largest Population Centers: Entire Nation

Symbol
commandments.jpg
The official symbol of Marscurian Judaism is the twin tablets of the 10 commandments. A direct manifestation of God's orders on Earth, and far more commonplace than the 613 commandments in the Torah. The Star of David was rejected because of its militaristic history as being the shape of the shield of King David.

Basic Beliefs
-Laws of the Tanakh supersede all, and form the basis of religious rites
-All laws set forth in the Talmud and in the commentaries are null and void. The Talmud is heresy, as only God and the prophets have the ability to proscribe law, not rabbis
-Strong emphasis on a personal relationship with God. Personal prayers take up the majority of the prayer service, with minimal set prayers
-Yiddish is accepted in both prayers and sermons, with Hebrew being used only for core prayers
-Complete disconnect with the land of Israel. Marscurian Siberia is the spiritual homeland, and all places are acceptable for prayer due to the omnipresence of God
-National religion of Marscurian Siberia. The Khagan is charged as the Defender of the Faith, and is one of the most important people in the religious hierarchy

Architecture
Synagogue_de_Bruxelles.jpg
Great Synagogue of Marscury
Synagogues of Marscurian Judaism are usually identical to the architecture of the neighborhoods they are built in. The main distinguishing feature is the presence of three front doors on the building, which are reserved for God, The People, and The Khagan. Due to the religion's status as the national religion, symbols of the state are often found in internal and external decorations.

Vaulian Orthodox Christianity

Demographics
Adherents: ~400,000
Percentage of Population: 12%
Largest Population Centers: Pyotrgrad

Symbol
tumblr_lwkl57WMbf1qh5tsp.jpg
The church shares the Patriarchal cross with the closely-related Orthodox Churches of Eastern Europe.

Basic Beliefs
-Nearly identical to Russian Orthodoxy
-Emperor of Vaule is regarded as the head of the church, and Defender of the Faith

Architecture
gen_045.JPG
Annunciation Cathedral
Architecture for Vaulian Orthodox Churches is nearly identical to churches throughout Vaule and the rest of Russian Orthodoxy.

Terrestrian Druidism

Demographics
Adherents: ~1,600
Percentage of Population: 0.2%
Largest Population Centers: Stonegate

Symbol
None

Basic Beliefs
-Pantheon of 4 supreme deities. Minnecanis (The Water Guardian), Voeluft (The Air Spirit), Wapititerra (God of the Earth), Angha-Ra (The Fire Beast).
-The four seasons correspond to a separate deity, in which the traits of that god are strongest.
-Happiness is the most prized possession of men. Festivals and feasts are commonplace in this religion to attest to that fact
-Antarctica is sacred. No Terrestrian Druid will live outside the continent or the many islands around it
-The environment is sacred. Terrestrian lifestyles reflect this by attempting to produce the least permanent impact on the environment
-The affairs of the Gods are separate from those of men. The religion is not affiliated with a government, but communal elders are often priests in the religion

Architecture
20101106231247!Water_Tribe_Avatar_Temple
Great Temple to Minnecanis
The buildings of the religion are simple and sturdy. Using materials taken from Antarctica (stone, ice, whale skins), the temples seek to blend into the environment.

Marscury Rayon

מאַרסקורי קונסטזייַד

Mapcкypйи Pайона

VWfpKcK.png

Administrative Center: Marscury
Largest City: Marscury

Size Ranking: 6th
Population Ranking: 2nd

Duma Representatives:
Moshe Rabinovich (A Just Russia)
Arkady Fedorovich (A Just Russia)

Geology and Terrain
The Marscury Rayon is small, and has a fairly uniform landscape. The majority of the rayon is within the city limits of Marscury and the surrounding metropolitan area, and is a relatively flat plain. Around the city lay gentle rolling hills, none any more than a few hundred feet in height. The main waterway of the rayon is the Bira River, snaking its way through the rayon in a North-South fashion. Several small lakes also dot themselves around the rayon, often times in the Bira floodplain.

Flora and Fauna
With the city of Marscury taking up the majority of the rayon, most of the native vegetation has been removed. However, larger city parks and sparse forests on the edge of the rayon point to thick forests that are mainly composed of broad-leaf trees such as oak and birch. Several unique flowers also inhabit the forests, giving rise to a large beekeeping industry and honey production.

In the forests, only small mammals remain. Martens, foxes, minks, and sables are the most common mammals that can be found in the rayon. Several birds inhabit the forests and lakes of the rayon, mainly small songbirds and ducks. In the Bira River, which is largely unpolluted, several fish species thrive at fishable levels. These species include pike and carp.

A mink found in the forests throughout the nation

Climate
The Marscury Rayon has the same climate as the rest of the nation. Drawing from a temperate monsoon climate, the summers are warm and very rainy, with average high temperatures of around 20-30 degrees, and annual rainfall of around 500-800mm. The winters are very cold, with low temperatures commonly dropping far below zero. However, as there is little moisture, relatively little snow falls during the winter.

Parks and Protected Areas
Apart from city parks, there are no major protected areas in the rayon.

Demographics
Like the rest of the nation, the rayon has a positive growth rate and a growing population. Also, as with most of the region, the vast majority of the population are Marscurians.  With the majority of the population being Marscurians, the dominant religion in the rayon is Marscurian Judaism.  The largest minority groups in the Marscurian Rayon are Russians, Ukrainians, and Ashkenazi Jews.  There are several Orthodox churches and a buddhist temple within Marscury, although they are quite small and rarely visited.

Economy
The Marscury Rayon has a well developed economy, based around government, services, and tourism.  Being the Marscurian Republic's capital, the Marscurian government is the largest employer in the rayon. With all the high-paying jobs, the people of the Marscury Rayon have the highest personal income and the lowest levels of poverty and unemployment.

All the energy used in the rayon is produced elsewhere in the nation. The majority of the electricity used in the city comes from coal plants in the south and west, but substantial amounts come from the large wind farms in the west.

Healthcare
The Marscury General Hospital is the largest hospital in the nation, and the numerous clinics throughout the rayon give the people a high standard of living. Low pollution gives the people clean air, and respiratory ailments are low in the city. Extensive bicycle trails, and the large amount of walking around a condensed city center means that the people of the rayon are in good health overall. However, due to hearty diets and extensive alcohol consumption that are regularly seen in Marscurian culture, heart and liver disease are some of the leading health problems in the rayon.

Education
The Marscury Rayon is home to the University of Marscury, the largest university in the nation, and home to many of the technological discoveries in the nation. In testing scores, the students of the high schools in the Marscury Rayon have consistently scored highest in reading, science, and math.

Transportation
The Marscury Rayon has one of the best transportation networks in the nation. Marscury is where the Great North Road and Great South Road meet and head East. It is also the junction point of of the northern and southern rail networks. If any traffic wants to move between Obluchye, Telmana, and the south, it must first pass through the Marscury Rayon.

Air travel in the rayon is provided by Marscury International Airport, the largest airport in the region. The airport provides direct air travel to many cities, mainly throughout Asia and Europe.

The Bira River is very twisty, and is often too shallow to provide any sort of heavy commercial traffic, but pleasure craft regularly run the length of the river through the rayon.

Grois Rayon

גרויס קונסטזייַד

Гpoиc Pайон

GroisRayon.png

Administrative Center: Obluchye
Largest City: Obluchye

Size Ranking: 1st
Population Ranking: 3rd

Duma Representatives:
Pavel Boruch (Communist Party)
Dmitri Libeskind (Communist Party)

Geology and Terrain
The Grois Rayon has a wide and varied landscape. The tallest peaks in the Marscurian Republic, the Kitaisk Mountains, are located in the Grois Rayon, and can stretch over 3,000 meters into the air. Steep peaks, expansive cave complexes, and smooth valleys can both be found in the rayon, leading to several unique environments.

The region contains many of large rivers of the Marscurian Republic. The Teich River runs along the southwestern part of the rayon, and forms a part of the border between Russia and the territory of the Meksikieti and Rodani barbarians. The Bira River, the largest river completely within the Marscurian Republic, also has its source and its entire West-East flow within the Grois Rayon. Hundreds of smaller rivers, either tributaries of the Teich or the Bira, also flow between the hills and mountains of the rayon.

Flora and Fauna
The Grois Rayon has some of the most varied plants and animals in the nation. The hills and mountains that make up the majority of the nation also contain a great amount of the forests. In the high hills, the forests are mainly coniferous trees, namely spruces, cedars, and firs, while the valleys contain a mix of coniferous and deciduous trees. In the forests, there exists a great deal of smaller bushes, ferns, and flowers, many of them medicinal or edible.

The forests are filled with a large variety of birds and mammals. Dozens of species of songbirds nest in the trees, while ducks and cranes wade in the many rivers and streams of the rayon. The region is unique due to it large amount of bats that live in the caves that dot the mountains. For ground mammals, the forests of the rayon are full of small to medium sized mammals such as martens, foxes, minks, wild boar.  The woods are also full of large mammals such as roe deer, musk deer, elk, and moose.  Around half of the nation's black bears also live in the mountains of the rayon, along with a majority of the packs of wolves found in the nation.

The rivers and streams are home to a wide variety of fish including carp, grayling, and pike in some of the smaller rivers, while the Teich is full of commercially exploitable species such as sturgeon, salmon, trout, and bream.

asiatic_bear_04.jpg
A black bear found in the mixed forests of the rayon's lowland valleys

Climate
The Grois Rayon has the same climate as the rest of the region. Drawing from a temperate monsoon climate, the summers are warm and very rainy, with average high temperatures of around 20-30 degrees, and annual rainfall of around 500-800mm.  At higher elevations, temperatures are often much lower than in the valleys, rarely reaching 30 degrees.  The winters are very cold, with low temperatures commonly dropping far below zero. However, in the mountains, larger amounts of snow fall, effectively coating the landscape.

Parks and Protected Areas
A large amount of the southern portion of the Grois Rayon is in pristine environmental condition, and is protected by the Western National Park.

Demographics
Like the rest of the region, the Grois Rayon has a positive growth rate and a growing population. However, due to positive economic factors in the region, the growth rate is much larger than the rest of the country due to higher birth rates and more people moving to the region to work. The vast majority of the population is Marscurian, but the city of Obluchye has a substantial Russian and Ukrainian population.

Economy
The Grois Rayon has one of the most solid and flourishing economies in the entire nation. The greater economy of the rayon is based on three things: mining, manufacturing, and tourism. Mining is one of the most profitable ventures, with the hills of the rayon being abundant in tin, copper, silver, molybdenum, lead, zinc, arsenic, bismuth, and antimony. In the many rivers and streams of the rayon, specifically the Sutara River, dredging barges continuously pull up large amounts of gold. Large deposits of brucite, used as a flame retardant, are found in the rayon, and are estimated to be the second largest deposits in the world. Small deposits of brown and hard coal can be found in the rayon, but are much smaller than the deposits elsewhere in the nation.

The largest share of the Marscurian Republic's manufacturing is centered in the rayon, specifically Obluchye. The industries in the rayon are focused in mainly metal refining and smelting, construction of building material, fishing, sustainable forestry, collection of medicinal plants, honey production, heavy engineering, and defense.

Tourism is a thriving and growing industry in the rayon. The pristine environment encourages eco-tourism, and large amounts of nature trails are located throughout the forests and the national park. Smaller towns and villages have set up exquisite spas around the various hot springs and mineral baths that dot the landscape. In the winter, the hills and mountains of the filled with skiers, and lodges are frequently booked for the entire season. In the late summer and fall, hunting permits are handed out to hunters seeking the wild boar and deer that flourish in the woods.

As the base of manufacturing, the Grois Rayon is in need of high amounts of electricity, and is home to the largest number of power stations in the region.  Much of the electricity is produced via coal-fired plants, although extensive wind farms have been built around hills and canyons to take advantage of the region's geography.

Healthcare
The Obluchye General Hospital is the second largest hospital in the region, and the numerous clinics in the larger towns give the people a high standard of living. Pollution from the industries in Obluchye have led to slightly higher amounts of asthma and bronchitis in the rayon than in the rest of the nation. Extensive trail and natural activities means that the people of the rayon are in good health overall. However, due to hearty diets and extensive alcohol consumption that are regularly seen in Marscurian culture, heart and liver disease are some of the leading health problems in the rayon.

Education
The Grois Rayon hosts large amounts of elementary and secondary schools. However, there are no post-secondary schools in the rayon, save technical schools at some of the industries in Obluchye. All students wishing to attend a university must leave the rayon for schools in other parts of the nation.

Transportation
The Grois Rayon is home to the Great North Road, leading from Obluchye to Marscury. It also hosts the Northern Transit and Entry Station and Eastern Transit and Entry Station, the official road and rail trade points between the Marscurian Republic and any Meksikieti barbarians civilized enough to trade through the mountains.

The Obluchye International Airport is strictly a cargo airport, taking flights from all over Eurasia.  Due to the lack of flat land surrounding the city, aircraft size is limited due to short runways.

Although there are several large rivers in the rayon, only the Teich hosts a significant amount of traffic. The boats on the river are limited to mostly private boats and ferries to smaller fishing villages along the banks. The Teich River Police also operate some small craft on the river that borders the rayon, stopping any smugglers that try to enter illegally.

AE2bCeu.png

Administrative Center: Teichzet
Largest City: Teichzet

Size Ranking: 2nd
Population Ranking: 5th

Duma Representatives:
Alexandr Schiermann (United Russia)
Mikhail Gershanovich (United Russia)

Geology and Terrain
The Meyrev Rayon has three main geographic regions. In the North, near the Grois Rayon, the terrain is very steep, as the foothills of the Kitaisk Mountains are located in the North. In the middle of the rayon, the land is very wet, with rivers and lake dotting the landscape and swamps forming in areas with poor drainage. In the Southern part of the rayon, the land forms a rich, flat plain that runs to the Teich River, which forms the Western and Southern borders of the Rayon.

Flora and Fauna
The Meyrev Rayon has varied plants and animals. The hills and mountains that make up the northern part of the rayon contain a great amount the forests.

Dozens of species of songbirds nest in the trees, while ducks and cranes wade in the many rivers, swamps, and streams of the rayon. For ground mammals, the forests of the rayon are full of small to medium sized mammals such as martens, foxes, minks, wild boar, and deer.  Wolves and lynx are two of the top predators in the forests of the rayon.  Around half of the nation's black bears also live in the mountains of the rayon.

In the south, large expanses of grasslands are filled with low grasses and flowering plants. Small rodents inhabit the grasses while birds of prey build their nests in the few trees of the area and feed on the mammals.

The rivers and streams are home to a wide variety of fish including carp, grayling, and pike in some of the smaller rivers, while the Teich is full of commercially exploitable species such as sturgeon, salmon, trout, and bream.

Climate
The Meyrev Rayon has the same climate as the rest of the nation. Drawing from a temperate monsoon climate, the summers are warm and very rainy, with average high temperatures of around 20-30 degrees, and annual rainfall of around 500-800mm. The winters are very cold, with low temperatures commonly dropping far below zero. However, in the mountains, larger amounts of snow fall, effectively coating the landscape.

Parks and Protected Areas
A large amount of the Northern portion of the Meyrev Rayon is in pristine environmental condition, and is protected by the Western National Park.

Demographics
Like the rest of the nation, the Meyrev Rayon has a positive growth rate and a growing population. Also, as with most of the nation, the vast majority of the population are Marscurians. With the majority of the population being Marscurians, the dominant religion in the rayon is Marscurian Judaism.  The largest minorities are Russians and Ukrainians.

Economy
The economy of the rayon is heavily based on agriculture. The southern grasslands both provide vast expanses for grazing animals, and are able to be plowed for the growing of crops ranging from turnips to corn. In the forests in the north, many medicinal plants are harvested, and bee keepers produce large amounts of honey from the flowers in the region. On the lakes and river, small amounts of fish are produced for sale in markets.

High-tech science also has established a presence at the Darem Point Spaceport, providing hundreds of high-tech jobs and providing a domestic launch point for satellites.  An astronaut training camp has also been established at Darem Point, although all manned launches are performed at other Russian spaceports.

Healthcare
The Amurzet General Hospital is the largest hospital in the Meyrev Rayon, and the numerous clinics in the larger towns give the people a high standard of living. The rayon has very low air pollution due to being a mostly agricultural economy, but some of the bodies of water are contaminated with moderate levels of fertilizer and chemicals. Extensive trail and natural activies means that the people of the rayon are in good health overall. However, due to hearty diets and extensive alcohol consumption that are regularly seen in Marscurian culture, heart and liver disease are some of the leading health problems in the rayon.

Education
The Meyrev Rayon hosts large amounts of elementary and secondary schools. However, there are no post-secondary schools in the rayon. All students wishing to attend a university must leave the rayon for schools in other parts of the nation.

Transportation
The Meyrev Rayon is home to the Great South Road, leading from Teichzet to Marscury.  Although there are several large rivers in the rayon, only the Teich hosts a significant amount of traffic. The boats on the river are limited to mostly private boats and ferries to smaller fishing villages along the banks. The ferry terminal in Teichzet is the first large ferry port on the river. The Teich River Police also operate some small craft on the river that borders the rayon, stopping any smugglers that try to enter illegally.  The large flatlands allowed for the construction of the Teichzet International Airport, servicing the southwestern areas of the nation.  Teichzet is also the western terminus of the Blue Line, a high-speed rail network, connecting the city to Leninskoye, Mietonka, and Marscury.

Bidzhan Rayon

בידזשאַן קונסטזייַד

Биджан Pайона

Administrative Center:Leninskoye
Largest City: Leninskoye

Size Ranking: 3rd
Population Ranking: 6th

Duma Representatives:
Dmitri Cherdenko (A Just Russia)
Vladimir Fravorsky (A Just Russia)

Geology and Terrain
Save for the small hills in the Northwest section of the rayon, the Bidzhan Rayon is mostly flat. The land is very wet in the Western and Southern sections of the rayon as the land is dotted with lakes, swamps, and large rivers, the most significant of these being the Bidzhan River. In the middle of the rayon, the land is flat, rich, and well drained to allow large amounts of agriculture. The Southern border of the rayon consists of the Teich River, which can be several thousand feet wide at several points.

Flora and Fauna
The Bidzhan Rayon has varied plants and animals. The large, flat plains that make up the Northern and Western part of the rayon contain a great amount the forests. In these forests, deciduous trees are the dominant species. In the forests, there exists a great deal of smaller bushes, ferns, and flowers, many of them medicinal or edible. Large central areas of the rayon consist of short grasslands that are largely used for grazing grounds.

The forests are filled with a large variety of birds and mammals. Dozens of species of songbirds nest in the trees, while ducks and cranes wade in the many rivers, swamps, and streams of the rayon.  The rayon is also home to the largest pheasant population in the country.  For ground mammals, the forests of the rayon are full of small to medium sized mammals such as martens, foxes, minks, wild boar, raccoon dogs, and deer.

In the central areas, large expanses of grasslands are filled with low grasses and flowering plants.

Climate
The Bidzhan Rayon has the same climate as the rest of the region. Drawing from a temperate monsoon climate, the summers are warm and very rainy, with average high temperatures of around 20-30 degrees, and annual rainfall of around 500-800mm. The winters are very cold, with low temperatures commonly dropping far below zero.

Parks and Protected Areas
A large amount of the Northwestern portion of the Bidzhan Rayon is in pristine environmental condition, and is protected by the Western National Park.  The Bidzhan Rayon is also home to the most Teich River islands of any rayon.  While not officially protected as a national part or wildlife refuge, the land is often unsuitable for development, and is left largely in pristine condition.  The islands are popular boating, hiking, and camping locales.

Demographics
Like the rest of the nation, the Bidzhan Rayon has a positive growth rate and a growing population. Also, as with most of the nation, the vast majority of the population are Marscurians. With the majority of the population being Marscurians, the dominant religion in the rayon is Marscurian Judaism.  The Bidzhan Rayon is also one of the few places in the world where the Vauleyo-Buryatian culture still exists, with Vaueleyo-Buryatians forming the largest minority group in the rayon.  Several Vaulian Orthodox churches exist in the rayon, largely in the capital of Leninskoye.

gen_019.JPG
A Vaulian Orthodox church in a village outside Leninskoye.

Economy
The majority of the Bizhan economy consists of agriculture. The large fields grow many of the smaller crops in the Marscurian Republic, such as carrots, potatoes, and melons. As the Marscurians turn more to these additional crops for variety, many of these farmers have become quite wealthy. While many cattle are fed on the large grasslands of the rayon, pigs are also raised here for feeding the Vauleyo-Buryatians who do not follow kosher laws.

Although it is not readily admitted, smugglers bring large amounts of income into the city of Leninskoye. Many faux-luxury goods are imported by Vauleyo-Buryatian gangs, despite the best attempts of the Teich River Police to halt the practice, going so far as to set up a major base in Leninskoye.

Healthcare
The Bidzhan Rayon has the poorest health in the whole region. With only a small hospital in Leninskoye and small clinics in town, the healthcare system is quickly becoming burdened.  With the large amount of fertilizer and animal waste, local water sources are often polluted with parasites and high nitrate levels, leading many of the wealthier residents to import their water from cleaner parts of the nation.  Attempts have been made to replace the often Soviet-era infrastructure in the region, but results are slow to manifest.

Education
The Bidzhan Rayon hosts large amounts of elementary and secondary schools.  However, like much of the southwestern parts of the region, there are no post-secondary schools, requiring pupils to travel elsewhere for a university education.

Transportation
The Bidzhan Rayon is home to the Great South Road, leading from Teichzet to Marscury and running through the rayon capital of Leninskoye. Although there are several large rivers in the rayon, only the Teich hosts a significant amount of traffic.  Barges and ferries are more commonplace at this point in the river's course, carrying wood, coal, ore, and other trade goods.  The Teich River Police also operates many medium boats on the river that borders the rayon, attempting to stop any smugglers that try to enter illegally.

Leninskoye is home to a train station along the Blue Route rail line, connecting the city to Teichzet, Mietonka, and Marscury.  Several of the medium-sized towns along the river have train stations that ferry commuters to Leninskoye and several of the larger cities outside the rayon.

Leninskoye is also home to much of the legal cross-river trade with the Vernewi barbarians on the south bank of the Teich River.  During the summer, most trade is conducted by boat, while in the winter months, an ice road across the Teich River allows people and vehicles to freely pass.  Plans are currently in place to build a permanent bridge across the river north of Leninskoye to better facilitate trade.

Bira Rayon

ביראַ קונסטזייַד

Бира Pайона

9DWYA8C.png

Administrative Center: Mietonka
Largest City: Mietonka

Size Ranking: 5th
Population Ranking: 1th

Duma Representatives:
Mendel Solomon (A Just Russia)
Iosif Liebmann (A Just Russia)

Geology and Terrain
The majority of the Bira Rayon is flat, with small hills occurring mainly in the far western regions of the rayon. The land is very fertile, and is well drained, lacking the swamps and streams that cover many of the other rayons. There are two main rivers in the rayon. The Bira River, the namesake for the rayon, enters the rayon in the northwest corner, and runs south through the rayon. The Teich River runs along the southern edge of the rayon, and forms the southern border.

Flora and Fauna
While there are some forests in the rayon, they are mainly limited to the hills in the western areas. These are mainly deciduous forests, and are home to many songbirds and small mammals, such as foxes, rabbits and minks.  In the hills, larger animals such as roe deer and even elk can be found in considerable numbers.

The Bira River is home to a wide variety of fish including carp, grayling, and pike, while the Teich is full of commercially exploitable species such as sturgeon, salmon, trout, and bream.

The Bira rayon was home to a much wider variety of wildife, but the rayon is one of the most developed rayons in the nation. Most of the native forests and grasslands have been removed to make room for expanding agriculture, grazing, and cities.

Climate
The Bira Rayon has the same climate as the rest of the nation. Drawing from a temperate monsoon climate, the summers are warm and very rainy, with average high temperatures of around 20-30 degrees, and annual rainfall of around 500-800mm. The winters are very cold, with low temperatures commonly dropping far below zero.

Parks and Protected Areas
The Bira Rayon is home to two national parks. The far western parts of the rayon are included in the Western National Park.  Like the Bidzhan Rayon, the Bira Rayon is home to a large number of pristine islands in the Teich River, although the are formally protected in the Teich Islands Wildness Reserve.

Demographics
The Bira Rayon has a population concentrated largely along the Bira River.  The major population centers are the southern suburbs of Marscury in the northern part of the rayon, and the metropolis of Mietonka in the southern part of the rayon along the Teich River.  The Bira River is lined with towns of varying sizes.  The population for the rayon is growing rapidly due to the favorable economic conditions, leading to increased birthrates and relocation from other parts of the nation. As with most of the nation, the vast majority of the population are Marscurians, with very few immigrants or minorities. With the majority of the population being Marscurians, the dominant religion in the rayon is Marscurian Judaism.  The largest minorities in the region are Russians and Ukrainians.

Economy
The economy of the Bira Region is strong and varied.  Away from the Teich and Bira Rivers, most of the population is engaged in large-scale commercial farming.  The region's drier soil makes it well suited for many of the crops that cannot be grown in the wet soils found further to the east and west. Turnips, potatoes, beets, sugar beets, buckwheat, and corn are the major crops produced in the rayon. Although there are no large grazing regions, chickens and turkeys are grown in the Bira Rayon in large industrial farms.

The city of Mietonka is the commercial hub of the nation.  The city is home to the headquarters of many of the largest corporations, along with the Mietonka Stock Exchange, the official stock market of Pasirung.

Healthcare
Mietonka General Hospital is the second largest in the nation, and many people in the northern part of the rayon are also withing serviceable range of Marscury General Hospital.  The numerous clinics throughout the rayon give the people a high standard of living. As with many places with high standards of living, obesity is beginning to become a real problem in the rayon, leading to large public service programs advocating proper diet and exercise.  The life expectancy in the rayon is slightly higher than the rest of the nation, averaging are 82 years for women and 80 years for men.

Education
The University of Mietonka, located in the city of Mietonka, is the second largest university in the nation.  The rayon has top-rate elementary and secondary education, often placing only behind Marscury in terms of test scores and graduation rates.

Transportation
The Bira Rayon easily has the most extensive transportation network in the nation. As the rayon completely surrounds the Marscury Rayon, all traffic must pass through the Bira Rayon to reach the capital. The Great North, Great East, and Great South roads all pass through the Bira Rayon towards the capital, with the Great South Road leading through the city of Mietonka. The rayon also has extensive rail networks, with the Blue, Orange, and Green routes all passing through the rayon.  The Blue Route is especially important, connecting the city of Mietonka to the capital of Marscury, along with Leninskoye and Teichzet.  Mietonka Municipal Airport is the largest non-international airport in the region, largely due to the proximity of the city to Marscury International Airport.  Mietonka also has a large ferry terminal on the Teich River, and the lower reaches of the Bira River are accessible to smaller vessels and barges.

Mizrekdik Rayon

מיזרעכדיק קונסטזייַד

Мизрекдик Pайона

mIGG5fA.png

Administrative Center: Telmana
Largest City: Telmana

Size Ranking: 3rd
Population Ranking: 4th

Duma Representatives:
Boris Rouzcheloveksky (Communist Party)
Vladislav Zelotogorov (Communist Party)

Geology and Terrain
The Mizrekdik Rayon is the flattest of the rayons, sitting entirely in the Teich Valley and lacking any significant hills or mountains.  Additionally, the land is some of the most saturated, with swamps and bogs covering large percentages of the rayon.  In addition to the swamps, numerous lakes and small rivers cross the rayon.  The main rivers for the rayon are the Tunguska River which forms the majority of the northern border, and the Teich River which forms the southern border of the rayon.  The eastern edge of the rayon lies on the Pacific Ocean.  The eastern part of the nation also contains the Teich River delta, with several large islands.

Flora and Fauna
Due to the heavy saturation of the Mizrekdik Rayon soil, most of the land is unsuitable for human use, and that gives the rayon a wide variety of natural variety.  The land is wet and low enough to allow for the growth of deciduous forests rather than the coniferous forests that are found throughout the rest of the nation.  In addition to songbirds, large amounts of water fowl and wading birds such as storks.  In the far western areas of the rayon large flocks of pheasants make their home, and are often subject to seasonal hunts.  The far eastern part of the rayon hosts a large variety of seabirds, and dolphins and whales can often be seen off the coast.

The forests of the Mizrekdik Rayon also house a wide variety of mammals.  In the western areas of the rayon, packs of raccoon dogs east the eggs and young pheasants that live among them.  Otters can be found along the banks of the Teich River.  In the northern and eastern parts of the rayon, rabbits and foxes can be found in the forests.  In the northwestern parts of the rayon, roe deer and moose can be found in the forests and wading in the swamps.  On occasion, there are reports of Pasirung tigers forming ranges in the remote center of the rayon.  The rivers and lakes of the Mizrekdik rayon are home to a wide variety of fish including carp, grayling, and pike, while the Teich is full of commercially exploitable species such as sturgeon, salmon, trout, and bream.  The far eastern part of the rayon gives way to a more maritime environment, with brackish marshes and large plains of sea grass.

Climate
Due to its proximity to the ocean, the rayon has a varied climate.  In the western areas of the rayon, the climate is similar to the rest of the nation, with wide variations between summer and winter temperatures, and rainfall averaging between 500-800mm.  Closer to the ocean, the weather is much more uniform, with cooler summers than the rest of the region, and more mild winters.  Rainfall is also slightly higher in coastal areas than areas further inland.

Due to the extensive Teich River basin, spring floods are a common occurrence in the rayon, and can often be severe.

Parks and Protected Areas
Most of the Mizrekdik Rayon is home to the Eastern Game Reserve.  While development is forbidden in the reserve, small amounts of hunting and fishing are permitted with proper licenses.

Demographics
The Mizrekdik Rayon is one of the least densely populated rayons in the natregionon.  Due to the swamps and dense wilderness, the vast majority of the population of the rayon live in the Telmana-Priamursky-Nikolaevsk metropolitan area.  The only other significant settlement in the rayon is the town of Smidovich located on a small plateau in the middle of the rayon.  Due to limited economic activities and the isolation from other parts of the country, many cities in the rayon have stagnated in population growth.  The vast majority of the population of the rayon are Marscurians, but the rayon's location on the borders of Tianxia has led to an influx of foreign nationals, mainly to conduct trade.  Marscurian Judaism is the dominant religion of the rayon, but the city of Telmana has a small orthodox church and mosque to facilitate any foreign crews who may enter via the city's port.

Economy
The economy of the Mizrekdik Rayon is largely tied to the rivers that surround the rayon.  Fishermen constantly trawl the Tunguska and Amur Rivers hoping to land large fish like sturgeon to export.  Although often frowned upon, otter and raccoon dogs are trapped for their fur.  Telmana is the main shipbuilding center for the nation, building cargo ships, barges, and warships for use on rivers throughout the world.  Additionally, Telmana is the sole international port in Marscurian Siberia proper, handling mainly exports of lumber and bulk cargo.

Agriculture in the Mizrekdik Rayon is very limited due to the saturation and high acidity of the soils in the rayon.  Only plants that can survive in the wet soils are grown, with the major crops of the rayon being melons and cranberries.  The dense forests mean that there is very little space for grazing animals.  Hazel trees are very common in the forests of the rayon, but any hazelnut industry is still in its infancy.

Ecotourism including hiking, camping, and river trips are beginning to gain in popularity in the rayon during the summer months.

Healthcare
There is no major hospital in the Mizrekdik Rayon.  A small hospital is present in Nikolaevsk, but all serious injuries will require airlifts to hospitals either in Marscury or Obluchye.

Education
As with the rest of the nation, the Mizrekdik Rayon has an expansive network of pre-secondary schools including elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. The rayon is also home to the Marscurian Siberian Military Institute, the university where future officers in the Marscurian Siberian army, navy, and air force receive an education along with training in military leadership.  Telmana hosts Amur State University, a major university, often paired with the military institute for classes and facility sharing.

Transportation
The Mizrekdik Rayon has an impressive transportation network.  The Great East Road runs right through the center of the region, from Marscury through Smidovich, and terminating at Telmana.  A major rail line runs throught the rayon and connects the cities to the rest of the rayon.  The Capital Express orange line terminates at Telmana, and offers daily high speed rail travel between Telmana and Marscury.  There are no airports in the rayon, requiring all air travel to depart from Marscury or Mietonka.  Telmana is home to the only port within Marscurian Siberia capable of handling major international operations. The cities of Telmana and Priamursky also contain large ferry terminals to connect themselves to other major cities situated on the Amur River.

Khabarovsk_Bridge.jpeg

The Khabarovsk Bridge carries both road and rail traffic between Telmana and Khabarovsk in Tianxia.  It is one of the two crossings over the Amur River between Marscurian Siberia and Tianxia.

Terrestria Rayon

טערעסטריאַ קונסטזייַד

Τеррестрия Района

TerrestriaRayon.png

Administrative Center: Stonegate

Largest City: Stonegate

Size Ranking: 7th

Population Ranking: 7th

Duma Representatives:

Elder Tideseeker
Elder Earthstride

Geology and Terrain

The frozen wastes of the Terrestria Rayon are one of the least hospitable places on Earth.  Covered almost entirely by ice, save for some rocky outcrops on which settlements are built, the island is almost featureless.

Flora and Fauna

There is a complete lack of plant life in the Terrestria Rayon, being far below the Antarctic Circle.  The island is occasionally visited by seals and penguins, and the surrounding waters are filled with fish and whales.

BabySeal.jpg

A baby Ross Seal, one of the four species that visit the rayon

Climate

The Terrestria Rayon sits well into the polar regions, with temperatures almost permanently below freezing.  During the summer months, the sun never truly sets, while the sea warms up enough to access the open ocean.  During the winter months, weeks can progress with the sun never in full view and temperatures stay well below zero.  While snowfall is quite low, the fact that it seldom melts means the island is covered in ice.

Parks and Protected Areas

The inhospitable nature of the island, and naturalistic beliefs of the populace means that lands outside the major settlements are virtually untouched.

Demographics

The Terrestria Rayon has the lowest population of any rayon, with only 2,000 residents all centered in the city of Stonegate.  The population of the rayon is completely comprised of Terrestrians, almost all of whom follow Terrestrian Druidism.  The population is stable, with almost no immigrants or emigrants, and with birthrates matching death rates.

Economy

The economy of the Terrestria Rayon is almost completely internal, relying on almost no exports and very few imports, largely brought in by sea or air during the summer months.  Food production is the largest employer on the island, with many of the men being hunters, fishers, or growing vegetables in the few greenhouses on the island.  Other professions include basic survival necessities such as healers, blacksmiths, and seamstresses.  Additionally, 200 people are employed as a police force/civil patrol to maintain order.

Healthcare

Healthcare in the Terrestria Rayon is severely limited, lacking a hospital or even a modern clinic.  Sicknesses and injuries are often treated via traditional healers, applying a mix of ritualistic and modern medicines.

Education

Education standards in the Terrestria Rayon are quite lax compared to the rest of the nation.  Higher education has never been important to the Terrestrians, with most professional development happening through apprenticeships.  The government has imposed standards on all schoolchildren requiring them to be literate in the rayon's official language, English, and to know basic math.  Much of this is done through home schooling or basic classes offed by communal teachers.

Transportation

Due to the remoteness of the rayon, fuel is not imported, leading to a car-free society.  The population centers are condensed enough to allow residents to walk everywhere, even in the dead of winter.  A small snow airstrip allows for some transport using specialized aircraft, and during the summer months, the ice is low enough to allow small ships to approach Stonegate to offload cargo.
