To: Selenarctos

Greetings,

We would like to enquire if Selenarctos would welcome a diplomatic mission from the Kingdom. We propose this as a means of increasing our international relations and discussion of regional issues.

Yours Sincerely,

KP Varma,

Minister of External Affairs,

The Kingdom of Cochin.

KP Varma, the Kingdom's Minister of External Affairs arrived at Selenarctos along with an 8 man diplomatic delegation and waited to be escorted to the Capitol building.

KP Varma was met at his point of arrival (airport, seaport?) by Director Antonia Pilar and a 10-man Ground Force Honor Guard. Following the customary greetings, the Cochin delegation was ushered into cars for transportation to the Capitol Building where the meeting would take place.

As the cars arrived and was settling in to the conference room, Directors Marcelo Bonifacio and Pacita Arellano joined Antonio Pilar to represent Selenarctos.

"I'm sure Antonio's already said it, but I'd like to personally welcome you all to Selenarctos," Marcelo Bonifacio began. "On the table in front of you are several informative sheets on the economy, history and current affairs of Selenarctos. Look through them as you wish, but here's a brief summary: Selenarctos is a Constitutional Dictatorship located in the Philippine Islands representing a population of just over 18,000,000 people. The majority of the population is of Filipino descent and of Christian faith, though the government is strictly non-secular. Economically, we maintain one of the strongest economies in the world and export anything you can imagine from raw food and materials to precision electronic parts and finished goods. Militarily, we have a force adequate for the protection of our islands and are dedicated to keeping it among the best equipped forces you can find and in terms of Foreign Relations, we are signatories of The Asian Union, The Treaty of Bangkok and hold an ODP with Acca Dacca."

Pacita Arellano picked up where Bonifacio left off, "Unfortunately, due to a slight miss-communication among various communications personnel, we don't actually know what your goals for this meeting. From our perspective, anything leading to increased relations and/or trade between our nations would be considered a successful outcome."

"Your perspective is extremely accurate, Mr. Arellano," KP Varma replied. " The Kingdom's mission through this meeting is to develop greater relations with your nations, greater trade relations, diplomatic ties and possible other avenues of international cooperation."

"Now as you may know the Kingdom has undergone considerable expansion in the recent times with the acquisition of India, the Lakshadweep, Maldives, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Our traditional presence in Indian Ocean has been strengthened through our increased access to ocean. Now we are thinking of using this opportunity to develop greater trade relations with out principal Asian neighbors among whom Selenarctos occupies primacy of position."

"If you wish to know about our international relations, the Kingdom has one MDoAP, with the Kingdom of Serca and MDPs with the Marscurian Pakistan, People's Republic of China and NAP/FTAs with nations like Acca Dacca, Caucasia, Groenlandia, Australia and Madurastan. We are not members of any bloc, but we are signatory to the Non aggression and trade clauses of the Bangkok Conference."

"The Kingdom has always considered peace, prosperity and stability in Asia as one of our principal aims. Though we have observed several blocs and affiliations springing up claiming to foster it, we believe that such a dream can only be attained through greater international cooperation between individual nations. Hence our diplomatic outreach with Selenarctos, a great Asian nation, with whom unfortunately until this time we have not had the honor of establishing closer relations."

"What we seek to know is what levels of international cooperation is Selenarctos willing to pursue with the Kingdom of Cochin?"

OOC: Ms. Arellano, I probably should have specified that somewhere... Other two are both men.

IC:

"From a purely economic viewpoint, we're always looking for new markets and, being islands, we always need new sources for raw materials. With your newly expanded territory, I believe any measures to promote the flow of trade between our two nations would be of great benefit."

"Militarily, Selenarctos would prefer to avoid binding defense pacts at this time and we're familiar with your position on non-binding pacts so perhaps an agreement non-aggression would be best."

OOC: Doesn't matter to me who writes the treaty, so go for it if you want to/have time.

"Ms. Arellano, then perhaps a Non Aggression Treaty with a Free Trade Clause would be the most optimal diplomatic precursor between our nations. We would be glad to trade with your nation.

Is there any possibility of our nations conducting joint military exercises? That is another way of improving our diplomatic relations. As a true 4 dimensional defense force, Royal Cochin Defense Forces could gain valuable extra experience from joint operations with the Selenarctos Military."

OOC: :P I will post the draft, later in the day.
