A higher literacy rate doesn't necessarily increase your income, unless you have access to lead and lumber, which will grant you scholars, which increase your income by $3.00. Nova Blue Posted December 15, 2009 Report Share Posted December 15, 2009 Unis boost Literacy Rate a little, but if your Tech level is low, it won't do much. You need to boost your Tech level. If you're a young Nation you should keep your Tech level at a medium size. Also, don't worry so much about Literacy Rate early on, it has very little baring on you...and costs too much to be worth it early on. Also, the Scholars BR doesn't go into effect until you have a VERY high Literacy Rate, and by that time you're a more older Nation and can utilize it better. So if your natural literacy rate would be lower than this due to your technology level, then your literacy rate will remain at 20%. Answered, closing.
