With the issue of Munitions Supply Contract, Cochin State Armory products would be used solely for active combat and pre-deployment divisional combat exercises. For routine training exercises, field exercises, war games etc the outsourced munitions would be used. Thus greater fiscal efficiency can be gained for Training Command as well as conserve the industrial manufacturing capacities of Cochin State Armory for more higher technology weapons.

Royal Cochin Air Force has been authorized to raise and maintain a new organization called the Reserve Air Wing. The Reserve Air Wing would consist of active duty capable aircraft to be maintained at reserve status. Aircrafts designated to Reserve Air Wing status would not be permitted for active combat. The RCAF Squadrons and Regiments currently under Training Command detachment or under foreign service training deployment would also be classed under the Reserve Air Wing classification. Additional squadrons are hereby ordered to be raised under RAW.

New squadrons to be raised:

A10 - 20
Metac AAP - 30
Halob Bomber - 20

The squadrons in Reserve Air Wings shall undergo duty rotation with Active duty squadrons. Training regimen for the Reserve Air Wing squadrons would be at the same level as Active duty squadrons. The inception of Reserve Air Wing is done so that there is a second line of defense and ready access to trained reinforcement in case the active duty squadrons get severely attenuated in a fast developing combat situation.

ROYAL COCHIN NAVY INDUCTS GAL PARAVA

In a statement here at Royal Cochin Naval headquarters at RCNB Ratnagiri, Vice Adm. KP Marakkar, Chief of Naval Staff and Maj. Gen. Sandeep Zachariah, the Quarter Master General announced the formal induction of GAL Parava into the Royal Cochin Navy's Maritime Surveillance Command. An order for 50 Parava has been placed with Gosree Aeronautics Limited to be completed on a priority manner. Formed into four squadrons, these hydrogen fuel cell powered unmanned aircraft would be stationed at RCNB Gosree, RCNB Kavaratti, RCNB Diego Garcia and RCNB Port Blair. The primary purposes of this Maritime Surveillance Regiment would be to maintain continuous aerial surveillance of the Kingdom's territorial waters, to conduct perennial patrol of the Cochin Exclusive Economic Zone and provide early relief to maritime disaster victims. Each Parava would be equipped with 5 Maritime Survival Pod, a revolutionary safety equipment designed by Research and Testing Directorate of Quarter Master Command with the Royal College of Sea Rescue, Mumbai so that even in the most adverse climactic conditions, when flight is impossible for all manner of manned aircraft, the Paravas would be able to provide basic rescue paraphernalia to the stranded mariners. The regiment would be given the call sign PR01.

NEW GENERATION CHAFF AND FLARE SYSTEMS

The Research and Testing Directorate of Quarter Master Command today announced the formal induction of a new range of Chaff and Flare systems to be used by Royal Cochin Air Force and Royal Cochin Navy. Unlike the conventional chaff devices which spread a cloud of small, thin pieces of aluminium, metallised glass fibre or plastic, which either appears as a cluster of secondary targets on radar screens or swamps the screen with multiple returns, the New Generation Chaff (NGC) consists of a small Explosively pumped flux compression generator in a helical configuration that when detonated would produce an extremely powerful magnetic field, about 50T. The directional nature of the Helical configuration would ensure that though the large magnetic pulse would debilitate any Radar guided missile tracked on to the aircraft or ship, the magnetic pulse would not affect the launcher itself. The NGF have been manufactured to the very same size as the current Chaff dispenser capsules as used by Royal Cochin Air Force aircrafts and Royal Cochin Naval vessels hence no structural changes are required for existing systems.

The New Generation Flare is a high energy thermal device which uses White phosphorous, Triethylalumane and Magnesium/Teflon/Viton as the incendiary device for the thermal countermeasure. NGF is also designed to fit the same structural standards as exist for the flare in service with Royal Cochin Defense Forces. The Quarter Master Command has also announced that a ballistic package of these new systems would soon be introduced for use with the Anti Aircraft Artillery batteries of Royal Cochin Army through which the high interdiction properties of NGC and NGF would be expanded to fit the Tactical Air Defense needs of Royal Cochin Army and Border Guards.

Royal Cochin Air Force Inducts GB8

Royal Cochin Air Force and Quarter Master Command today announced the induction of the GB8 Passive Attack Weapon into the combat arsenal of RCAF. GB8 is an air dropped guided bomb containing non explosive stainless steel and tungsten kinetic penetrators.

Weighing 1000 pounds the GB8 has same aerodynamic flight properties as the GB2 Standard Thousand Pounder bomb. Packing 350 14-in. rods, 1,000 7-in. rods, and 2,400 2-in. rods it is an area suppression weapon.

The weapon was designed in house by Research and Testing Directorate of Quarter Master Command according to tactical necessity dictated by Royal Cochin Air Force and Royal Cochin Army as per analysis from the recently concluded divisional exercises in NTC Jaisalmer. While flechette munitions in general are used commonly in mortar teams and artillery units of Army, this is for the first time that flechette munitions are being used in an air deployed manner. QMC officials have stated a larger 2000 pound design is being designed with depleted uranium tipped rods for greater penetration against hardened and armored targets as well as a larger Ballistic Payload to be implemented in Tactical and Intermediate Range missiles. Warheads are also being developed in parallel for the KUB2 cruise missiles as well as for Bali Area Defense Systems munitions.

The full range of flechette munitions are expected to be inducted within 6 months and to be uniformly deployed to active duty forces within a year.

RCAF TRANSPORT COMMAND EXPANDING FLEET

Royal Cochin Air Force has awarded two monumental contracts to Gosree Aeronautics Limited to construct two of the largest aircrafts ever designed in the world for induction into the three new regiments of Transport Command. While Transport Command is currently consisting of 70 regiments (3500) of Halobs, 100 regiments (5000) of Merat and 150 regiments (7500) of Metac, the need for specialized squadrons of Ultra Heavy Cargo Carriers have been felt by RCAF for strategic purposes as well as for disaster relief purposes. Though the current fleet of transport aircrafts, one of the largest in the world potentially larger than the other nearest competitors combined have sufficient tonnage and reach for almost any purposes, Royal Cochin Air Force has determined that these two new aircrafts would further solidify the logistical capabilities of Royal Cochin Defense Forces. The two designs are the product of years of joint effort by RCAF and GAL in one of the most beneficial partnerships in Cochin's defense industry.

The first service operational flight by GN225 was completed today by Col. William Ignatious and Lt. Col. Jahangir Alam as the flying officers from Naval Air Station Kanyakumari to the Air Force Base Urumqi, a distance of 4100 kms. This maximum payload flight was conducted with a payload of 4 T150 Main Battle Tanks belonging to the Third Marine Division destined to the Tatra Chassis Works in Urumqi. The flight with the hitherto largest ever operational cargo carried by RCAF validated the capabilities of the HG0101 Squadron.

It would be one the most audacious flight tests ever to be conducted by Royal Cochin Air Force. The first GAL Pelican inducted into the Transport Command's PH01 squadron embarked upon a 9700 km flight from FAB Altay in Xinjiang to Naval Air Station Crozet carrying 1400 tons of cargo. This extended mission would be supported by two Merats as well as a Jadayu Mk.2 for observation. The greatest challenge of the flight would be crossing the Himalayas with its very low flight ceiling of 20,000 feet. A flight route had been plotted through the Gangothri pass to cross from Tibet to the Subcontinent plains. Maintaining a constant 15,000 ft altitude over the subcontinent the Pelican crossed over to Arabian Sea north of Goa. The low flying behemoth became a spectacle for hundreds of tourists on the beach. A few nautical miles off the coast the Pelican was brought to 50 ft elevation where the ground effect would swing into action. The speed picked up and it was a smooth flight all the way upto NAS Crozet.

Landing at NAS Crozet however proved to be a problem with the length of the runway far shorter for the Pelican which was flying in with the aid of a speeding tail wind. Though most of the cargo were jettisoned on the final approach on the runway, the Pelican disasterously overshot the runway and crashed back into the sea wall. The flight crew though injured managed to escape the aircraft just before it exploded into a fireball.

Though laced with tragedy, the GAL Pelican has proved its worth as the heaviest transport aircraft in the world.
