The first four Yankee class submarines have started their sea trials prior to commissioning into Royal Cochin Navy. The submarine built at Bosaso Shipyard had been brought to Gosree aboard a floating dry dock, propelled with an additional Ocean tug and protected by the cruiser CNS Excalibur. The increased presence of potential hostile navies in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea caused an aerial escort formed by land based JM2s from Bosaso and Gosree to provide additional cover for this convoy.

Having reached Gosree without incidents, the Yankee class submarine was launched to sea along with its 3 sister boats to commence their trials. Though they have not named yet, they have received call signs from Royal Cochin Navy. They are:

SY01 (Built at Gosree)

SY02 (Built at Bosaso)

SY03 (Built at Ratnagiri)

SY04 (Built at Issykkul)

The SY04 is the first submarine to be built at the new Cochin Shipyard plant at the banks of the Lake Issykkul. Having been built and assembled in this shipyard and tested in the salt waters of Lake Issykkul it was loaded aboard a special military train which transported this submarine to RCNB Gosree where it was unloaded and launched to sea. A special set of locomotives were used for this operation and the train itself was protected by a team from Royal Cochin Special Forces.
