Military Dispatch X.1.1

Zemunda St. George stepped onto a brightly lit podium with a small notecard tucked into his hand. He gave no time for the press to reposition themselves for the following Q&A--he just began speaking.

"My fellow Mechodamians. As we are a new nation to this tumultuous world, it is a necessity that we bring upon the means of defending ourselves in every capacity possible. Since the conception of The Republic we have retained autonomy in our own self-governing and, though with maximal effort required, it is time we increase our efforts and finish all military expenditures planned months in advance.

Our army, standing more than 500,000 strong, will be equipped with state of the art weaponry and be supported by only the best infantry support units we can afford. The Royal Mechodamian Navy, the fleet that has proven themselves worthy of commendation, is the heart and endearing soul of our military. The only access point into our dear country is through The Republic, or the Atlantic Ocean. And as The Republic has no qualms that are notable, the vast expanse of ocean seems to be our main threat.

However, there remains another threat on the horizon--internal rebellion. Intelligence has prompted our conclave that there may in fact be a future uprising within the industrial cities Bastok, Windurst, and the military complex Jeuno surprisingly. It is here, now, that I announce the immediate mobilization of our forces to quell any possible threat that is being harbored within the borders of our young country.

We will not tolerate rebels who create swift recourse through violence. The steel-toed boots of our brave and indomitable soldiers shall crush them with great ease. They shall tremble beneath our iron wrath.

It is here that Prefect Kilik Torqameda shall take marshal law and increase the nation's DEFCON to 2. The fact is that a rebellion is seemingly imminent and we need the immediate mobilization of our military as soon as possible. All citizens not quartered in Bastok, Windurst, and Jeuno are to report to the military houses where you shall contribute to your country's defense. Every soldier needs your help if we are to survive this impending uprising.

Let us prevail, my brothers. For Mechodamia! For the Royal Prefect, Lord Kilik!"

Zemunda, unwilling to answer questions, stepped off the stage and calmly walked passed the curtains out of sight. He knew what was to come... but they'd be ready, even despite today's transgressions.
