JEDCJT
Sochi. The United Kingdom of Byzantium, Greece, Georgia, and Transcaucasia has expressed interest into purchasing the resort city of Sochi, currently a part of the Royal Empire of Slovorussia, for an estimated sum of $500 million. This news was greeted with nearly universal support from the UK populace, especially the inhabitants of Transcaucasia. Back in the day, Sochi used to be a part of the New Byzantine Empire, until it was given to the Villages, and eventually came under Slovorussian control. However, despite universal support, this proposal met some criticism from several MPs in Parliament. "We're throwing $500 million away for a measly port city, one that will prove eventually to be nothing more than a burden, not only on the people, but the UK whole?" Liberal MP Raoul Wilkins stated in Parliament today. "We already have many ports in the whole UK, and we dont really need one more." But even such...skepticism, there is considerable support for the purchase of Sochi, sometimes referred to as the 'Sochi Purchase'. Justinian the Mighty
The Slavorussian Parliament is currently discussing the proposal to sell Sochi to the UK. It's been met with about 60% approval so far.

Justinian the Mighty
ooc: The Caucasian region is also historically part of Slavorussia too, but broke off after the failed October Revolution in 1917. The UK just has a more recent association with the region. ic: Most Sochi representatives in the Imperial Duma and the Imperial Council have signed off on the sale of the district to the UK. A parliament vote today approved the sale for 500 million rubles. Premier Kolesnikov and the Tsar are expected to approve the sale later today before they leave for Australia. The UK is delighted by this news. Following this, $500 million were immediately wired over to the Slavorussian government as the City of Sochi officially reverted to UK control and jurisdiction. UK troops entered Sochi as the peaceful transition of power took place. UK administrators replaced their Slavorussian counterparts in the administration of the city as it was, through the Sochi Administrative Status Act 2009, officially incorporated into the Country of Transcaucasia, in the UK.
