Despite, or perhaps more accurately because of, the crisis in South America and the situation developing in national politics the decision had been made it was time to start an outreach which was only supposed to happen much later. Early that day an invitation would be sent to the government of Gran Colombia inviting a delegation to meet with the Magistrate of American Affairs in New Orleans to discuss relations between the Athenian Federation and Gran Colombia.

President Luiz Marco himself would make the journey, as he felt that this meeting was of utmost importance to Gran Colombia and the start of relations with one of the major world powers which was its close neighbour. His Presidential DC-10 would make the flight to New Orleans, before he would make his way to the meeting place. He was hoping that the meeting would be a successful and productive one.

Upon arrival president Marco was taken to the Government tower in central New Orleans, in a conference room on the top floor Viktor Gariboldi was waiting, as the president entered Viktor approached the man.

"President Marco, I am Viktor Gariboldi, the Magistrate of American Affairs. Welcome to the Athenian Federation and thank you for coming"

President Marco smiled warmly. "Thank you very much. I am honoured to be invited here. I hope that we can work out future relations between our two countries. I also feel that due to the current situation in South America at the moment, this meeting is well timed. I hope that we can form a common front on certain issues." His expression would turn to a more serious one, as he knew that the most important meeting in his nation's existence and his Presidency had begun.

Viktor nodded before pointing to a chair the president could sit on and then moved to the opposite end of the table and took a seat there. "Indeed it is, we have much to discuss and most of the matters are of prime importance, I would suggest we start with security relations"

"Of course. I feel that closer relations between our nations will benefit the area as a whole. I am not sure what your government would like specifically, I am hoping for Greater Colombia that we can gain you as a strong ally in the region plus to work with you to make the region a more stable place. The threat posed by the crisis currently raging in South America although isnt involving us, is worrying as it may signal a new conflict which could mean expansion by foreign forces. I am grateful that the Athenian Federation has been standing up for South American interests."
