With the formal oath of office completed and the congressional congress in full order the first order of business for the newly established government of Vinsalia was to establish her armed forces. As it stood a cadre of mercenary groups had served as her only form of defense but with the nation established a great many of these individuals have sought citizenship within the nation that they themselves were credited with helped to establish. A secret congressional session would be held with President Francisco Bourbon would be present whereupon he presented a formal proposal drafting the establishment of the Armed branches of the Vinsalia. The motion passed with unanimous approval and would be signed into law later on that night. With it's approval the armed forces budget was swelled to a total of $320,000,000,000 to fufill the following Defense Spending Actions.

The proposed armed forces would have a total strength of over 1.4 million men with a focus being placed on training to produce a highly trained and outfitted warrior befit for the modern field of combat. The force would be entirely comprised of volunteers over the age of 18 and would be sworn under oath to protect the office of the Presidency, the civilian government, and the people of Vinsalia.

[b]Vinsalian Ground Forces - VGF[/b]

800,000 men form the main bulkhead of Vinsalian forces and for all intents and purposes represented the true power of Vinsalia's military might. Comprised entirely from a volunteer corps the VGF acts within the nation to defend her borders and interests world wide. Operating within this context the VGF employ a highly integrated ground force centered around strong mechanized combat units. Integrated coordination systems with the airforce, navy, and strategic command offer the VGF a high degree of battle awareness which allows the force to track, target, and destroy most enemy forces. Support elements within VGF armies contain a number of highly mobile precision artillery and rocketry pieces designed to strike at enemy forces from afar whilst keeping up with the mobile firepower doctrine established within Vinsalian command. Land-air-sea fire control units would be present as well designed to find and fix enemy firing units and report these positions to Vinsalian command for destruction or counter-battery fire. A cadre of quick response vehicles would also serve within the army to exploit weak points in enemy formations and strike at points of interest within VGF battle space. Within the VGF itself would be a core of highly trained officers receiving their formal instruction on the arts of war in the newly restructured West Point officers school, which is the only officers school within Vinsalia. With it, a core of highly motivated and trained individuals from throughout the country would form the bulkhead of the Vinalian vanguard.

[b]Vinsalian Marine Forces - VMF[/b]

[/b]240,000 men form the Vinsalian Amphibious Forces and serve as the nations aquatic forces to be sent to various theatres around the world either by air or sea as afforded to them by strategic command. These forces are largely optimized for warfare on from the sea via amphibious landing ships and ground effect craft that are meant to quickly secure a beachhead allowing the rest of the VGF to move into place in securing a location. LHD assault ships are largely supported by VTOL aircraft, ASW helicopters and attack helicopters along with the standard support units afforded by Vinsalian naval & aerial forces. Ultimately, this force is expected to serve as the international reaction force of the Vinsalian military element and as such is held to a higher standard of military readiness and skill.

[b]Vinsalian Special Corps - VSC[/b]

40,320 men make up the VSC which is an elite branch of the military that serves as shock group sent at the discretion of the President to take and hold a swath of territory and hold it against a much larger force. Trained to deploy by land, air, or sea these men are the most highly trained soldiers in the Vinsalian military and are selected from the VGF & VMF for service. Competition into the VSC is intense with very few applicants making it the final cut to serve in the VSC. Ultimately, those that do are highly trained, motivated, and ideologically charged to carry out the orders of the President and government as a whole.

"So General...what is the status of our military buildup? While we cannot hope to build an army overnight I do believe we've had more then one night to do it by now...and you and I both know the world will not wait on us to develop our forces before testing us."

General Thomas groaned "I've got your damned army building up just fine...our recruitment rates have grown exponentially and over the last few months have successfully trained more then one million soldiers to serve on active duty. Your quotas are being met well beyond even my own expectations."

"Well, it certainly helps that our military veterans will be generously taken care of ..."

"Mhmm... as it stands we've become one of the largest military powers in the world. In terms of manpower alone we can field the largest army in North America. But we have a bit of a problem with regards to that facet. To put it frankly, while we have plenty of bodies to meet our needs and acceptable leadership, we lack a fundamental component. As the saying goes... "guns and butter."

"We need to expand our production facilities to meet our growing military forces. To put it bluntly, we're only slightly better then the Russians in WW2 having one rifle per unit..."

"General, no need to exaggerate things. If you need more weaponry, simply ask and we will make it happen."

"I had a procurement order sent to your office a week ago. Where are my guns...you want an army yet you only give me the most basic items to outfit and train our personal."

"The reason your procurement order was not fulfilled is quite simple really. The weaponry you've requested is no longer the best fit for our needs. We've got new toys for you to play with and your forces will soon find themselves benefiting from the tireless efforts of our weaponry research divisions."

With an increasingly destabilized continent it seemed imperative now more then ever that efforts would be made to increase the defense capabilities of the nation. Diplomatically, Vinsalia seemed poised to secure itself into a relatively safe position from most powers. But it was universally recognized within national security circles that allied nations cannot be wholly counted upon to defend the rights and interests of Vinsalia. With that recognition came a sweeping bill of changes implemented by the Vinsalian government... putting good use to the billions of dollars that had been allocated and until this point sitting idle.

Defense doctrine would be shaped to fit a modern battlefield taking great efforts to eliminate the use of 20th century stationary defenses and instead make use of more mobile elastic means of defense. Mobile radar installations would be constructed and fielded throughout the nation to provide a comprehensive network of aerial detection capabilities. While there would be a number of hardened radar centers built in undisclosed locations which would be extremely tough to disable. As each radar bunker would be lead lined and layered in tons of steel reinforced concrete which would greatly improve resistance to EMP weaponry and explosive ordinance. In conjunction to these efforts SAM installations would be built throughout the nation to provide a steady layer of anti-air capabilities while mobile anti-air units would be formed to provide mobile capabilities to these aims. Thousands of older grade military craft would be bought through international markets and dismantled for their radar units which would in turn be put in basic vehicles to serve as bogey radar stations. Ultimately this would create a extremely rigid layer of security for the Vinsalian state.

Admiral William Blake released a report to Minister of War Jack Pierce earlier tonight detailing the status of the Vinsalian Naval Forces. In short, it stated that after years of focused attention on devloping naval yards and technology that the Navy had all but developed into a robust organization. As it stands the basic level infrastructure needed to maintain and equip a large naval force has been established. Now further developments aim to increase the logistical support as well as communications networking needed to provide global means of force and strike capabilities.

In total the navy has 72 military vessals which house around 97k naval personal. Among these military craft are various designs of destroyers, cruisers, frigates, carriers, landing craft, support craft and both nuclear and non-nuclear submarines. With an emphasis being placed on utilizing long-range missile craft to provide anti-air and anti-sea capbilities as well as supporting ground-based targets.

Present divisions within the navy are as followed.

1st VN Fleet: stationed in New Rochelle, New York
2nd VN Fleet: stationed in Portland, Maine

Additionally, Admiral Blake has presided over the growth of Vinsalian intelligence capabilities with the launching of 3 Skyhawk satellites with an additional 4 planned to be launched throughout the next year. With these capabilities intertwined Vinsalia will soon be able to provide global monitoring capabilities and the means to keep eyes on any points of interest throughout the globe. In addition to this, 8 Babel class communication satellites are planned to be launched over the next few months to provide greater communication capabilities for the military network.

Special Corps Training exercises would be held 200 miles from the Vinsalia-J Andres border. A total of 600 VSC would conduct a number of coordinated mechanized movements to simulate a hostile battleground in which quick strike force deployments would be necessary. Minimal mechanical and logistics support would be provided to further test the means by which the VSC would adapt to meet their destination objectives. 1000 members of the VGF would also be selected to form the opposing forces and serve to test their own capabilities with regard to counter-acting a fast-mover offensive.

All weaponry and equipment would be utilizing a state of the art simulated "Virtual" fire software which maps and models the true weaponry ranges in a simulated environment. Soldiers who would be fired upon and hit would be greeted to an annoyingly loud ringing sound as they're forced out. Whichever unit in the VGF or VSC suffers the least casualty -- to kill ratio at the end of the exercise would find themselves receiving a nice boost in payment and extra recreation time.

With the calender year quickly approaching it's end the annual expansion of Vinsalian military forces has lead to an increase of over 300,000 new bodies to service. Resulting in a total force of arms strength of 1.7 million men providing the force to this growing nation. The growth of the nations armed forces has caused an issue of overcrowding in military bases around the nation with some grumbling that the amount of forces currently employed leading to a great deal of "over staffing." Although some have speculated that this increase in forces is the stepping stone towards asserting Vinsalian influence around the world... only time will tell.

Additionally plans are currently underway to expand upon the current blue water naval assets in the Vinsalian Navy... plans include adding an additional ship of every type to the current standing armada. Albeit, we're currently awaiting some newer naval designs to be submitted from our domestic producers. As it stands factories have been tooled to immediately begin production of our current ship lines if any pressing needs arrive.
