Malatose
The scene was set in Welthauptstadt Germania for the diplomatic meeting between the Reich and the Scandinavian Federation. Throughout the nation, the flags of both nations were draped on the hundreds of buildings in the capital. When the Scandinavian delegation arrived at the airport, they were greeted by a military band performing the Scandinavian National Anthem. Afterwards, the group was driven to the Reich Chancellery. Upon entering, they would be greeted by Reichskanzler Visari. "Greetings! It is an honor and a privilege to have you here. Please have a seat." Visari directed the men to their seats. Infront, of each of the foreign dignitaries, were the basic refreshments.
Aggressivenutmeg
"Reichskanzler, a pleasure to meet you." Steensen said as he and his staff shuffled into their seat. "I apologise that the Secretary-General himself could not attend, but there are other matters that require his attention." He took a sip of water and waited a moment for everyone to sit down. "Now then, shall we get down to business?"
Malatose
"There is no need for the apologies. I will meet the General Secretary another time. However, I do agree that we should get right to business. The first thing I would like to discuss is the status of relations between our two countries. While we have two opposing ideologies, that does not mean that we can't interact. As two of the leading nations in Europe, I believe we should move forward. I believe we should move forward for the good of our nations and Europe." Edited January 16, 2012 by Malatose
Aggressivenutmeg
"I am inclined to agree Reichskanzler. Our rather trivial differences can easily be put asside for the betterment of us both. Closer relations between our nations would be most beneficial, economicaly and strategicaly, for the security of the Baltic and Northern Europe. We would be interested in signing a military treaty, as well as some form of economic agreement."
Malatose
Visari nodded, "I believe a military and economic treaty would benefit the both of our nations greatly. However, there is another small issue I'd like to discuss. To the north of us is Schleswig-Holstein‎. Historically, that is Germanic land and has been for centuries. In addition, I'm sure the Volksdeutsche located in Schleswig-Holstein‎ would like to reunite with the fatherland, so to speak. Therefore, I'm asking would it be possible to transfer control of that land back to the Reich."
Aggressivenutmeg
"In recent months, there has been a growing movement in Schleswig-Holstein for unification with germany. We would be more willing to cede these territories to the German Reich, as is the wish of the local Populous."
Malatose
Visari smiled, "We thank you for caring about the local populous in Schleswig-Holstein. We will soon take the necessary steps to reintegrate the region into the Reich." After speaking, Visari waved to his adjutant who placed a dossier in front of both Visari and Haakon Streensen. "Here is the official documentation for the agreement we are about to sign. Of course, you can look over it."
Article I: Mutual Defense Any declaration upon both nations is considered an act of aggression to the undersigned nations. Peace will only be offered through mutual consent of the nations represented by the undersigned; and only accepted under the same terms. Diplomatic channels will remain open in the event that a declaration of war by an outside nation is an unsanctioned operation. Article II: Mutual Aggression Neither nation is obliged to partake in assistance in offensive wars, all military or monetary support is strictly to be decided by each sovereign state, yet both are encouraged to support each other when needed. Article III: Espionage Neither nation may directly participate in espionage of any type, regardless of situation and target. If either one of the undersigning nation conducts espionage on the other signatory, this pact will be revoked immediately following a 24-hour truce. If either nation bound to this pact conducts espionage on a non-signing nation, it is grounds for revocation, but such action may or may not be taken by the other signatory’s leaders. Article IV: Termination This treaty shall only be terminated if either undersigned nation chooses to exit this treaty or if Article III is found to be violated by a member state. If one of the undersigned chooses to terminate this pact, they must give five (5) days notice before the treaty is officially dissolved in which they remain fully bonded to the provisions contained therein. The Undersigned do agree to respect and adhere to the Articles written above, both in the spirit and letter in which they are written. Aggressivenutmeg
"Excellent, this is most agreeable. The treaty will need to be retified by the Althing, however this should only take a few days and I am sure it will pass." Malatose
Visari's adjutant handed him a pen in order for him to write his name on the document.
Signed for the Greater German Reich Reichskanzler and Leader of All Germanics, Michael Visari
Visari nodded, "This is a very large step for the both of our nations, but I expect nothing but greatness."
