"The will of the Angolan people should be expressed with truth and without limitations on 15 and 16 April 2011, in the election of the Constituent Assembly that will opportunely be summoned" said President Agostinho Neto today. The task of the Constituent Assembly will be write and promulge the constitution of the People's Democratic Republic of North Angola. The politics of the PDRNA takes place in a framework of a parliamentary democratic republic, whereby the President of the PDRNA is the head of state and the Prime Minister is the head of government, and of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in the Angola People's assembly. Currently, political power is concentrated in the Presidency and the Military, forming the "Provisional Government of the People's Democratic Republic of North Angola". The executive branch of the government is composed of the President, the Prime Minister (currently vacant), and the Armed Forces Command. The Armed Forces Command, acting Council of Ministers, meets regularly with the President of the Republic to discuss policy issues. President Agostinho Neto promised to call general elections by the end of the second week of April 2011. Following the outcome of the General Elections, the democratically elected Angola People's Assembly will vest all legislative powers and promulge the new constitution of the PDRNA.
