Is that ODN's official policy on the issue considering your gov position, that you guys want to subject TOP & IRON to the harshest terms ever if you guys win this?
Of course not. I am but a single appointed official. Just because I choose not to waste my sig with a disclaimer doesn't mean that I speak for my alliance with every post I make.

    That would be hilarious.

It'd also be the first time the ODN would be in a position to demand reps (I believe) in their entire history!

Unlike virtually every other alliance in this war, the ODN (despite winning 6/8 major wars we have fought in) has never once demanded or received reparations. That is unless you count the 69 soldiers that Vox paid the nation of Free Radicals as part of our peace agreement.

  2. Very enjoyable issue. I particularly liked the comparison of TOP (and company)'s DoW on CnG to ODN's DoW on GOONS during GWIII. Honestly, it is a perfect comparison. In both cases, there were no treaties to justify the declarations, and in both cases the defending parties were not already at war. I expect given this inherent similarity, that just as the ODN became subject to the harshest after-war reparations ever due to that incident, so too will be the aggressors in this war launched against C&G.

The usual point-plus losses for that alliance and the Independent Republic Of Orange Nations (who have a strong possibility of handing the lead of orange over to the Orange Defense Network tomorrow), although Sparta, the New Polar Order, and Fark all suffer losses in excess of three-quarters of a point as well.

For that to happen, TOP would have to lose a lot of score very fast :P

But other than that, good update Gopher. :)

why Sun, are you offering to take his place??

It might be difficult, since I'm in nuclear anarchy at the moment and unable to declare any more offensive wars. Perhaps if another couple large nations attacked me I could give it a shot, but unfortunately so far IRON's (possibly former, not checking) #2 Quelto hasn't been holding up his end of the bargain. At any rate, I honestly meant what I said.

Ok sunstar, thanks for completing the circle, now we are back to the point of why bringing in STA was even necessary...
Lets say my ally of 2 million NS is attacked by an alliance of 1 million NS. Logically, my ally probably has the upper hand. Does that mean they shouldn't be defended?

STA decided it was necessary for them to defend their allies. I don't see why in the hundreds of declarations of war these past couple weeks you have issue with this one. Its not like it makes some huge difference in the war. All it means that some of STA's resources will be shifted from TOP to defend their allies on another front. What's the big deal?

  6.
The point wasn't very well articulated, but it was basically that Silence+RIA (and really CRAP as well) have clear numerical superiority, and a statistical advantage against argent+FCC, the fact that they need STA to step in when its already 9 on 1 is pretty >_>. Basically: the dog pile argument.
Perhaps they should have thought of that before attacking STA's allies.

This is one of my new favourites. Also, the DoW Web is pretty awesome too.

  8. Also before any sleuths chime in with it, yes the spy report text has been rearranged somewhat to fit the image. Hence a couple of pixels are slightly off. No, the warchest has not been altered. The original spy report can be viewed in its entirety here.

Shouldn't the time be on the x-axis and confusion on the y?
Hizzy beat me to it. Also, confusion should be in some units other than days, whereas time should indeed be measured in days.

I think white peace has come about to deal with alliances not really involved in situations aside from treaties. It doesn't impose anything on them so there are no harsh feelings, and allows for an easy way to end the war. For alliances dealing with deeper issues then just treaties then terms are generally applied.
I pretty much agree with this. Those not responsible for a war should not have to suffer for it. However, an alliance that activated a treaty should be subject to reparations if they've previously been responsible for a war and not changed their ways. For example, IRON was assessed reparations post-Karma. They weren't the ones who started the Karma war, but their previous actions and lengthy support of NPO aggression made them culpable.

  11. UJW - Fought Schattenmann who was in GOONS at the time. We were both noobs though.
WotC - Fought a few Vox nations. Wanted to be on their side. :(
Karma - Fought FEAR, UCN, & NATO targets. Not too bad, but periphery of the war.
Bi-Polar - Fighting loltex and jstep. Nukes flying, alongside plenty of strategy and coordination from both sides. Right in the heart of the war and having lots of fun with them.

    So yeah, this one.
