Ok Ugexe, instead let's not pay small nations enough money, slow their growth in the game, and wait for two weeks to get into a tech deal ourselves. That makes perfect sense. The point of tech deals is to, as we (large nations) benefit ourselves, also boost the younger nations up. One day both you and I were small, and appreciated the profits of these deals. The deals are made to be mutually beneficial, and that's how I like it. The small nations grow into larger ones faster, yes. And these larger nations only act as competition and drive up prices further, correct. Ya know what? That's just how it goes. There is no other alternative - unless you feel like attracting more people to the game of Cybernations and inflating the base of small nations, you're just going to have to get used to higher prices for tech. This is a natural progression, and will continue as long as tech is in such high demand. Your strategy is to pay small nations less so that they'll stay small longer? How do you think the small nations feel about that? Do you think the small nations are going to volunteer to accept less money so they can be 'farmed' by people like you? I'm sorry, but economics is a lot (which is 2 words) more than having large nations benefit at the expense of the little guys.

that pretty much sums it up ^ in case you were wondering, things are going great. we have 13 completed deals in the first two days - awesome! looking for more large nations / tech buyers. YES, it will cost you slightly more. however, we have dozens of small nations signed up and waiting to deal - in other words, pay your $2m and you'll have 50 tech in a matter of hours. it doesn't get any simpler, any eaiser, any faster. forget the headaches and just let the tech roll in!

Indeed. XRCatD - I'm also a large nation and HATE wasting aid slots. But, as Learz said, our method will actually save you slots in the long run. Number one, no waiting. If you sign up for a 3x3 deal and have to wait 3 days for it to start, that's a lot of wasted slots/time right there. This way, no wait = immediate tech = your slots open up sooner. Also, some of the 3x3's often take a few days to complete, because small nations sometimes send tech, wait for it to be accepted, then send 50 more. Well if you're the second large nation to receive tech, you often have to wait a couple days during the deal. Again, wasted time. With 2x2's, the small nations send tech immediately (even sometimes before they receive cash), meaning that the deals are completed much faster, again letting the slots clear more quickly. So, in the end, I don't see that extra aid slot as a downside! it'll be made up for by quicker deals and no wait times.

When it is fully implemented, wait times should be eliminated. There will be a bit of a price hike to keep up with supply/demand, but we're searching for a program that will as efficient as possible - ideas are welcome.

Agreed, both of you. I remember when tech was $2,400,000 per 100 tech; and, keep in mind that tech was worth MUCH more back then (raised your NS much, much more). But when I raised the price to $2,500,000 people would complain and stop buying tech. Sounds a bit silly now, doesn't it?

we'd love to have you guys (errr... your small nations, at least :lol:) For the rest of ya, we actually have a new donation system going on now which looks to be a big hit; donations are auctioned off. Our last donation went for $19mill, and an auction is running currently (high bid is $9mill at the moment... sure to get higher though). One more auction for a June donation should start later today as well! So please come on over and sign up!

the problem is that although the events probably are about even good/bad, the people who get good events either don't say anything or don't see an issue with the event process (and why would they?), whereas the other half of people, the ones who get bad events exclusively, feel the need to complain on the CN forums (which is also understandable). However, for us reading on the forums, that gives the false impression that everyone is getting bad events, which is NOT TRUE - it's just that the people who get bad events are the people who are going to post in this topic...

$3mill/150 tech doesn't hurt the small nations, per se, but I don't understand why any small nation would voluntary do a deal like that. If they can get into a $3mill/50 tech deal with me and make over $2mill, why would they do a $3mill/150 tech and make just 350k?

Can't assure you of your asking price exactly, but if you come on over to my forums (see sig), we have an auction system. You put your July donation up for auction, and you'll have a bunch of large nations bidding and outbidding each other for your donation. Chances are you'll get at least that price.... but there's only one way to find out! :lol: Win

By the time you're making $16mill per day collecting taxes, the price isn't an issue at all. For most large nations, we worry about the use of our aid slots and the efficiency of the deal(s); I'm happy to pay a bit extra if I get my tech correctly and on-time.

I don't think such drastic reform is needed; just continue the gradual rise in tech costs and continue to think up more and more creative and efficient ways to continue tech sales. I don't see a reason to change how the game is played just to accomodate a rising number of buyers. Supply/demand, that's all it is.

As Learz said, we have a solution to that (see sig) An interesting post though - I do agree that we aren't maxing out. That said, it's nearly impossible to increase the amount of nation selling tech b/c it's a fact that many new CN players aren't nearly involved enough to engage in tech dealing. Since we're using basically the same amount of new nations (game growth is steady, if anything) and at the same time the number of large nations needing tech increases and increases, we're bound to have a problem. Simple capitalism, mkay? I remember doing tech deals when we could get 100 tech for about $2,400,000. Those days are long gone... tech prices rise and rise. We seem to have hit a bit of a wall because of the restrictions on tech/cash per aid slot (how could the price get above $3mill, you might say). However, there are creative ways to get around the barrier. For instance, on our forums I've been offering $3mill/50 tech deals, though the 50 tech is guaranteed to be immediate and same-day. Though I don't expect the price of tech to just make that jump from $3mill/100 to $6mill/100, I do think there is an intermediate step. Pretty soon I guarantee you'll be seeing $6mill/150 tech; in other words, a $3mill/100 tech deal paired with a $3mill/50 tech deal, either simultaneously or back-to-back. Supply/demand... it's bound to happen.
