Hello, I am an old fart that has been on planet bob since the year 2008. Yes, I remember the days of the great war..and then that other great war...then the other one. I remember the days of Ragnarok, MK, GayToes, and many more names that have not been spoken in many years.
I am in need of an alliance for my puny formerly inactive nation. Who has a senior section in their alliance with some vacancy? Do the kids still use IRC? Is BobIllyani still on the ZI list? There are many questions my nation has to ask, that I hope can be answered.

The people of Nunavut have been waiting for many years to be heard as a nation. European powers have come and gone over the years, and the Inuit people have not had a fair say. It took one man to inspire thousands with the rally call "one Inuit nation". Nunavut needed to show the world that it was ready to be a player on the modern world stage, that it didn't want to be ruled any longer. Akiak Hunt, a young eccentric man, with good Inuit beliefs, and a touch of modernism, he was the perfect man for the job. Rallies for independence became more and more common in the sparsely populated northern territory. It was finally decided that there would be elections.
A peaceful letter of intent was sent to the American Commonwealth capital asking for independence. A political move, as the people of Nunavut had already made up their mind, and didn't need permission in their minds to be free. 500,000 people showed up for elections, 98% of the provinces total population. This was the greatest turn out the local officials have seen since the fall of Canada. In total 70% elected Mr. Akiak, with 20% for a John Smith, and 10% for various third parties. With Akiaks election, a team of 45 individuals, representing local villages and townships were brought in to propose a constitution for the people to vote on, and to decide on basic laws and legal structures, given a deadline of June 1st. A young, proud, fragile nation was born on the ices of the northern tundra, the people of Nunavut were second class citizens no more. With that, a letter of intent was sent to the Commonwealth, and a declaration was sent to the diplomats of the world.

Government position on the UN: The government of Saskatchewan recognizes the institution of the UN as a major political power in the world. However, Saskatchewan does not recognize the U.N. as an influence on the government of Saskatchewan, nor does the government plan on joining the General Assembly.
Government position on slavery: The government of Saskatchewan is actively against slavery in all forms. All work should be voluntary.
Government position on war: Saskatchewan does not approve of any form of offensive/aggressive conflict. The government holds the position that there is a peaceful solution to everything.
Government position on religion: The Republic of Saskatchewan does not recognize any form of state religions, though the majority of its people are Pastafarians that believe in the gender neutral lord and savior The Flying Spaghetti Monster.

The Basic Rights of the People of Saskatchewan
Article one: Freedom of speech
All inhabitants of the Republic of Saskatchewan are free to speak their mind without government intervention.No civilian can feel their freedom of speech encroached upon by the government of Saskatchewan by means of wiretapping, jail time, threats, or any other means of bribery or fear. This is essential in the relationship between civilians and the government.
Article Two: Freedom of the press
The press of Saskatchewan is to be free in reporting anything to the world so long as it does not mislead the public. The government may not maintain any sort of publicly funded press.
Article Three: The right to bear arms
Any civilian in good mental health has the right to bear arms. This right can not be encroached upon by any law, fine, registry or ban as it is essential for a free people.
Article Four: All human beings are equal
There can be no institution of government that hinders the right of a person based on race, religion, or sexual orientation. All rights and laws granted to the people of Saskatchewan are for every person in Saskatchewan, not just for the majority. There is to be no double standard in Saskatchewan.
Article Five: Respect
The government of Saskatchewan, and all of its branches must show respect to the people. At no time can a government official by any law or right be set above the average citizen.

President Michael J. Hyde
The people of Saskatchewan have grown tired of the state of the world, wars here, famine there, it seemed there was not a part of the world that could maintain stability through anything but death. A leader rose from a small town in the north, an idealist preaching peace and love for all of humanity, Michael J. Hyde was his name. Soon after a movement was started, the people of Saskatchewan wanted independence. Many prepared for a revolt against the current occupying military. Michael knew that the only way this nation was to be founded was on peaceful elections. After months of elections this leader won with a landslide and he was to be the first president of a new young nation. The Republic of Saskatchewan was born, and its people believed, that they could change the world.

As I am sure you have heard, we have recently held elections, and have elected a new leader named Michael J. Hyde. A temporary house consisting of the closest leadership of President Hyde has been created to create checks and balances for the president until there has been enough time for elections in that area. The New Kingdom of Yugoslavia extends from the northernmost part of Croatia to the southernmost part of Serbia. Yugoslavia is an absolute Monarchy under the direct rule of the royal Petrovic family of Croatia. Currently there is no standing military force other than a basic defense force to keep order and control immigration. Currently there is no elected office in the executive branch of Yugoslavia, but the King takes direct criticism and council from his "Clerics" which represent their respective regions. The capital of Yugoslavia is in the Croatian city of Zagreb, however the royal palace is in Dvor. The royal family has direct command over the military, foreign and external affairs as well as the economy. While the king takes council on all matters, he has the last say on larger decisions, while the clerics deal with the less important matters. Currently there are no diplomatic ties between Yugoslavia and any foreign entity or government, but it has been made public that talks have been opened with the Athenian Federation.

With the internal orders of Yugoslavia in order, the nation was ready for local diplomacy. King Petrovic selected the nation personally as this would be considered a hit or miss for the new government. After an in depth meeting with the Kings Clerics it was decided that the first attempt would be The Athenian Federation. Historically Greek Croat relations have had their ups and downs historically, and the Athenian Federation controlled the Mediterranean and consequently, Yugoslavian trade and naval passage. A missive was sent directly from the kings desk to Athens.

The New Kingdom of Yugoslavia
The Kingdom of Yugoslavia is an absolute monarchy located in the western side of the Balkan peninsula from Croatia to Serbia and Montenegro. Yugoslavian subjects and military report directly to the royal family which is advised by the monarchs personal council known as the Royal Clerics. Yugoslavia does not have an official state religion. Title is by direct bloodline and nobility, however non noble familys are not considered as second class citizens.

Claiming the Balkans not under direct Athenian control, excluding Romania. Mark it "The Kingdom of Yugoslavia" in dark blue, if that doesn't fit well Yugoslavia will do nicely.

May 1st: Today, after many debates and conferences, it has been decided that the people of the Balkans not under direct Athenian control will make an effort towards independence. A letter was sent to the Greece to inform the Athenian Federation of the peoples unanimous intent. The powers decided that the key to international acceptance and recognition was a democratic election to decide the form of government in and leadership the people wanted.
May 30th: The major parties have been selected and the elections have begun. An overwhelming majority seems to be in favor of the republican party, followed by the Monarchs. At this point the unofficial polls are pointing towards a landslide victory for the Republican party.
June 3rd: A scandal within the Republican party involving bribing of voters has just been revealed by unnamed sources. This shift in public opinion comes very close to the election and may be a deciding factor in the poll.
June 10th: Unofficial polls and absentee ballots are in and it looks like the once thought landslide in favor of the Republican party has shifted due to the scandals. At this point, just a week before the election, it looks like the Monarchs will win the roll of leadership within the Balkans.
June 16th: Election day has come and the votes are in, the Monarchs have won the ballot and the people have decided. The Balkans will be an absolute monarchy under the rule of King Nicola Petrovic of Croatia. The people of the Balkans have shown their appreciation for the new king in what will be called the Kings Day Parade.

King Nicola Petrovic of Croatia will rule the Balkans in an absolute monarchy as promised. Currently we are open to any nation that wishes to form relations, especially within Europe, while we go through this renovation. We thank the Athenian Federation and Russia for allowing peaceful democratic elections on this matter." ~King Petrovic.

The private police and basic defense forces would begin the process of securing and stabilizing the areas that were still without law. The King has decreed a general draft, to begin on the 20th, to select able bodied men and women of the Balkans to form the initial defense force in the land.
