  2. "And were it not for a lack of cooperation and serious stonewalling by your parties, he would not have conceded anything. But when three men out of a group of four always vote A while the fourth votes B, and refuses him in his desire to have his voice heard, then it is oppression! I will not call you after the most heinous of tyrants, Hitler, nor will I compare you to a Pol Pot - but oppression can happen quite by omission rather than intentionally or with the severe derailing of liberty. "Prime Minister, we wished for independence to serve ourselves as citizens. And when we finally get it, the will of half the people here are discarded because our voice is ignored. If you can not sympathize with your brothers, then I say you are not fit to be Prime Minister of a single country or what will soon be half of one! "Keep your damn dirty power! We'll take care of ourselves, just like we always have. Good day, gentlemen." Marshall Alexander, his voice starting solemn and then slowly rising through his final remarks, before hitting a crescendo at damn dirty power!, presented a piece of paper to the Prime Minister. "Expect this on your desk tomorrow morning." And then he, and his Socialists, slowly filed out.
  3. "Yes, quite, I understand, mmhmm,- Do you see the common thread here?" Marshall Alexander, red in the face with rage, slammed his fist on the now-splintered desk to his right. "We put you up to the task of putting our name out there, and instead you were given an eighth of a piece of pie and gave another eighth away!" Mr. Apostle, quite a gifted speaker in his own right and with a head full of brilliant ideas, simply nodded and loosened his tie. His open shirt betrayed a few drops of whiskey on his chest, and his eyes stayed closed - his face in an eternal grimace. "Yes, yes... I must admit, I was not prepared. Nor was I up to the task, Marshall Alexander. I told you it should have been you." "Damn you, don't try to put this on me!" Another fist hit the desk. "I love you like the brother you aren't, but, damn you again, I have to go the extra distance!" "Arthur - surely, not..." Apostle, speaking to Marshall with his middle name, as his closest friends do, opened his eyes for the first time in half an hour. "You... Will you?" "Yes, Rev, and that's all there is to it." --- "Mr. Apostle has, sadly, checked into the hospital with a heart condition. I believe I speak for all of us here when I say that we wish him back." Marshall Alexander, the industrialist of south Cascadia, was the new head of the OWP. During the recess, he had gathered the necessary signatures from the rest of his party members and organized a quick, spur-of-the-moment, cities-wide rally mostly by youth. During the recess, which lasted three days, every city with a Marshall Alexander factory had multiple rallies, mostly youth, for a second independence movement. In addition, the media (which ran adjacent to the factories) in the area was lobbying heavily for a "fair treatment programme" - in essence, their own country. "I suppose you have all heard the newest news from the South - our call for independence. I will not make a fancy speech. I will tell you right now - the Oregon Worker's Party represents an overwhelming majority of the people of the South. We are not some fringe party that picked up piecemeal seats here and there. You are neglecting, rejecting, and oppressing the entireity of the populace with your backroom dealings and power struggles. "With that, we submit the following: "Grant us peaceful independence upon the following lines, to be a new sovereign state, by way of county referendums. In addition, grant free immigration for a period of six months for anybody who wishes to move between the two states. And, in addition, set aside land in our respective capitals for permanent, unrevokable embassies. "This is our wish. If it is not granted, then you will have a fight on your hands in the most literal of terms."
  4. [s]Since Voodoo is apparently away with real life (and I don't mind, it's much more important), and Winner I believe quit CN, would anyone mind if I claimed Israel? I've been waiting for about two weeks. [/s] Oh, boy, I thought the map was simply out of date. I looked back and checked and apparently Centurius owned it all along, and he was being sarcastic. I wish it were easier to tell sarcasm over the internet. Nevermind.
  5. If I get permission from my alliance, I'll take you up on that.
  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we already have a better projected map that already has labels and more countries on it? Why do we need another? :{
  7. ((OOC: Closed to Voodoo and I)) "There's nothing better to stabilize of a war-torn city than a factory to bring them all together." Those were the words of "Governor" Marshall Alexander, the land-owning pioneer of new business in south Oregon. In the crime-and-disease stricken town of Eugene came along Marshall Alexander, and where dirt and bullets would embed in the walls, Marshall Alexander would scrub and expel. While the situation of criminal activity was nowhere near the issues in the north, that was because "Governor" Alexander kept the people with cheap jobs and transitional work for the higher classes who needed their new iPads and Androids. But cheap jobs and transitional work do not pacify a people; worse yet, Oregon General Electric was not allowed to operate in the southern areas, as Marshall Alexander is not a man who tolerates the shadiness of criminal enterprise. While they officially ran "power companies", Marshall Alexander knew otherwise and kept their tendrils out of the reach of the common folk. This bred a sort of resentment among the poor, who were unaware of illegality of certain operations. Even if there were no proof, see. So Marshall Alexander took it upon himself to fix the problem the best way he knew how - by exploiting the poor with all the money he had. By exploiting loopholes and taking advantage of the power of money, he was able to consolidate the parcels of land he had into one large mass, creating opportunity for quite a bit more. He called in favors, called in men, and called in the worst in them - and within three months had a fully working factory producing, well, whatever the hell it was anybody wanted to produce. The orders came in sparingly, and then... well, suffice it to say that the criminal enterprise took notice of it. And a front company ordered a lot of guns. So Marshall Alexander took it upon himself to fix the second problem the best way he knew how - by exploiting the criminals with all the money he had. He took in massive bulk orders and turned a blind eye by accepting what they thought were bribes - but make the guns weak and parts ruined. So when the next generation of guns flooded the streets, Marshall Alexander left them ruined. Police swept warehouses and were given a plethora of tips, prisons overflowed with people nobody would give a damn about, and his massive factory was the talk of the city. He took this message elsewhere and founded similar factories and other parts. It was part of the program he called the Matter Drive Program - by driving progress with matter, rather than energy. Solid products would solve unemployment and fix crime and disease. Doctors came in to heal the sick, and people with jobs would take the downsides with factory work home with them, glad they had work at all. But the "Governor" knew that this would not last under a protectorate. And he heard about Project Oregon. This would not do. His contacts were light but he knew enough. He held a rally in Eugene, then east through Idaho and even easter still, before holding a conference announcing that he wanted to further unite those he had helped before. :: The Industrious "Governor" Marshall Alexander sent the following message: Secretary Espinosa, My name is Marshall Alexander. I purchased and developed wide tracts of land in south Oregon and Idaho country, and together with the locals managed to set up a simple, if efficient, economy that comes together in the somewhat leftover country we can call the Northwest. I understand that there is a movement for independence by Project Oregon; likewise, I represent the major business in the area and many towns and cities in the Northwest Protectorate when I say that independence for those of us south of Project Oregon is on our minds as well. We've held rallies, raised funds to reach out to those who are unaware, and polled favorably. Public awareness in the area is high, and I have been unofficially chosen as a representative among the South Cascadians, as we call ourselves. When this letter reaches you, I hope you would be gracious enough to consider organizing and overseeing a vote. This is not just some movement among football buddies - this is a widespread movement by tens of thousands of people. Give us our chance. Thank you, Marshall Alexander
  8. I contacted somebody about land in their protectorate. I know real life takes precedence so if he doesn't get back to me for a while that's fine, but I was wondering if my vote will still count? :C I mean, I don't have a nation but I'm trying to get one, it's just that there's no way to do it without getting permission.
  9. What is the unlabeled land in Canada?
