The movement from generalities to a specific example that disproves nothing about the generalities was a tad jarring.

Something about an aspirin in a jar? You can have the whole jar. You seriously need it if you think NEW is an elite alliance.

I actually considered putting NEW in the elite class, and indeed you could make an argument for it.

When rating an alliance's war ability, you have to consider:

    1. The skill exhibited by individual members (initiative, knowledge of the combat mechanics, tactical judgment)
    2. The skill exhibited by the military command structure (solid subordinate command leadership, ability to adapt to changes on the battlefield and put plans into action)
    4. The demonstrated ability of the supreme military command (creation of communications and command structure that survives the test of combat, advocacy for military preparedness, ability to see "the whole battlefield" and the implications of actions taking place outside the narrow front of the alliance, contingency planning at the strategic level, ability to organize, prepare, and coordinate within the alliance and with other alliances)
    3. Effective use of the military by the those in charge of the alliance (putting their people in positions to win rather than get mauled and run off the battlefield..."diplomacy is war by other means", institution of programs to promote the purchase of military improvements/wonders, technology and other things that influence combat, mandatory realistic warchests, effective communication of current events that have military implications to general membership)

Any idiot can raid. Any fool can point a sword and all the fools that follow him/her charge blindly in the general direction of the enemy. True war ability goes beyond that.

Yet the NEW guy with 2k tech does the nuking instead of 2 10k+ tech nations fighting the same target. NEW is elite indeed.

Let me save you some time....

Go ahead and go somewhere else... after your battles expire.

Do you really have to use that obnoxious sig?

OP, your nation size is literally less then the NS of a nuke, a tech deal could "Rebuild" whatever was lost. What we have here is another pointless issue to be discussed on the OWF.

Would you go on record that you find no alliances "worthless"?
Edit: So then you agree that you do take reps for offensive wars, but only those offensive wars on those you deem worthless?
I urge you to stop. GOONS policy on reps is clear, declare an offensive alliance war on them and lose. You will pay "reps". If you are comparing unaligned nations to an alliance then you have the "none syndrome". Though I fail to see GOONS treat unaligned nations to MJ/SF peace thread.

You can always debate this matter else war, though if I were Sard, I wouldn't waste my time debating with you since you already have a predefined position.

I actually liked it how SCY done it last year for one of the awards -- a few people from each alliance selected, based on alliance size. I heard it was a !@#$%* to organise it though.
You still have the year's best DoW regardless of how and who does the awards.

Ain't no glory like a Wiki page glory, apparently.

Exactly. That's why NPL surrendered already.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Umbrella is doing a whole lot of fighting against NPL right now. Not their fault, just a lack of upper-tier targets. We're simply flushing out the lower tier, that's all. :)

We never had targets to begin with.

You don't go to war to be killed, you go to war to kill. Why people still continue to bemoan the fact that it's better to stack NS in favorable terms for yourself in a coalition war is beyond me.

As one of the parties extorted last war, I can safely say this silly e-lawyering loophole of "we didn't extort anyone, honest!" is a load of crap.

Mmmmh... let's see... a year and a half ago, pre-emptive attacks were bad and MK justified taking more than 300k tech from the offenders...

Now they are up to it and probably going to extort reps, like it's customary in them.

    Interesting.
Wow. Extortion? really? is that the line you will keep trying to play? When your incompetent leader was responsible for this mess?

  10.
Well, you see, Johnny Apocalypse just said they didn't hear anything about the neutrality until after you communicated your intentions. Did he misspeak?
Alliances who would rather stay neutral, usually declare their neutrality once a treaty partner is hit or in war.

    Historic example:
    http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?showtopic=97834

ONYX (at the time a Sparta protectorate) declared its neutrality after Sparta decided to pre-empt Aztec.

You're not particularly happy with it, so you're going to embroil two alliances in the conflict who had no reason to be involved. They gave no indication of their neutrality - aside from, of course, the fact that they hadn't entered the war - until after people were made aware that you going to attack them? So, once again. Is it the responsibility of an alliance to report their neutrality to the Doomhouse Hegemony or risk being rolled?
Sure. Why not?
