  1. I don't see any reason why anyone should be scared of NPO or IRON.  Neither alliance performs massive tech raids on unaligned nations, although if I am not mistaken it is permissable to IRON nations if they choose.  So if anything they should be afraid of alliances like DBDC and the goonies, etc.   I suppose when a noob yes, the numbers IRON and NPO have can be intimidating, but after you learn the game you know how certain alliances work.

Tech raiding in IRON was outlawed two or three years ago iirc.

  2. Never. I tried to write a proper reply to the thread, but that was all I could muster. The fact that many TOOL members now reside in IRON - it flies in the face of everything we did back then. IRON were one of the few alliances that I still held to a pretty high level. Maybe that was naive, but it seems they couldn't handle the criticism from NG and other peers to get involved so they found some nasty ways to enter this war. Considering they then keep up the facade that Fark requested help, even though they begged Fark to chain them in just puts the final nail.

Of course, it is your prerogative to form opinions on IRON based on the many resources available to you (i welcome you to discuss your issues with IRON on our boards). Though I find it disheartening that you would allow IRON's actions this war to tarnish the memory of the historical relationship between two close friends simply because a number of TOOLies call IRON home now.

  3. I'm curious... do any IRON members actually think that any of this is a good political move?  Or better yet, not a disastrous political move?

Good diplomacy/politic is about how actions are perceived, and not how they are justified.  Are IRON members blind to how most of CN views these actions?

By no means are we unaware of the various sentiments here on the open boards. Other than mildly annoying, they aren't particularly worrisome. It's unsurprising that many of the heated opinions, though not all, come from those who only know of IRON from what's posted on the OWF. Good diplomacy certainly isn't done here on the public forums. If you'd like chat about member opinions (varied as they are, with 300 plus members), feel free to stop by our forums.

I don't see that working out well for IRON either in the short, or long term after this thread. Lets hope MCRABT and others are wrong and your Council isn't as incompetent as the recent couple of months worth of actions has shown them to be.

    This is getting ridiculous.
  5. Then why not cancel the treaty? There's no point on having a treaty if it isn't going to be honored. Unless of course you're being a douche/user.

    Poor show IRON.

How helpful can we be to NG as a smoldering heap? We can give our two cents beforehand (as we did), we can try to negotiate on their behalf (as we did), we can offer rebuilding aid/tech afterwards (which I'm sure we will). Either of us could've canceled; we both obviously still value the relationship. I don't think any of you who know IRON are really second guessing her commitment to her allies, or is trying to save her own skin.
