A lot of alliances merged that was old.
Please re-read my second sentence.

Why not bring your small alliance into PGS?
LSF is one of the oldest continuous communities on this wretched planet. They prefer to go their own way.

I thought you had always been too old for it. (I know I have.)
It's all relative, I suppose. [ooc]But becoming a grandfather has rather driven the point home.[/ooc]

I do, but I'm too old for that nonsense now. (To be fair, most of us are....)

This is a big day for LSF. We've got a lot to do, we need to remake flags and such, sort out out Discord channel and
work out what we're going to do to antagonise NoRsee if there's a way to regrow. We need to get members.LSF is, despite our much diminished size, one of the oldest alliances founded May Day 2006 (because of course May Day), we've got members who were around for all the
wars with NoRmost significant events in the alliance's history and above all we still don't have or want a government or leaders. We work based on mutual respect, honouring the agreements we've collectively made and deciding together what we want to do next. While merely an ex-Kaiser, I think I can speak for all of NoR, past and present, as we

To be fair to David, Mal used to infest the «actually "that guy"» part of the forums.
He keeps his nation small for the sole purpose of being able to run his mouth without consequences, which is exactly what Malannoy used to do.
He's a time-waster.
*blessings upon the Ignore feature, which I just remembered*

Kudos on being about as useful to this place as the late, not-at-all lamented Malinois.

At least in 08 the other side had adept leadership unlike the clowns in charge now.
Honestly, none of us are as good as we tell people we used to be.

Having previously been in a situation where a Supremacy Clause really would have come in handy, I appreciate the care taken in the drafting of this document.

This is odd. I kinda like it, though. Old-time fransjosef vibes.

Some of us have been hiding from them, successfully, for years.

I played as Duncan King from 2005 to 2012 and came back in April 2023. I don’t remember anything useful other than how much I liked most of you. 🫠
Hello. I remember your name. I think you were in NATO? Or not....memory is a fickle thing.

All the Vox forum posts are on the current forum. I believe this post is about the old forum, which was up from 2006 to late 2007.

Ah, so they are.

Yikes. We're all getting 'up there', aren't we?

There's the first and second Polar Wars and the Citrus War, those were the ones where we in NPO really established ourselves as a force to be reckoned with. The Second Polar directly led to the founding of the New Polar Order. Those are all very important for setting up a lot of the alliance dynamics you still see today, as well as the Great Patriotic War (also known as Great War I).
Other people should add more - maybe Initiative vs FAN, and a lot of the small wars in the run up to the Unjust War (which kicked off like right after this forum went active).
Mildly surprised you've omitted Vox vs. the NPO & Friends. (An aside: I miss chatting with Doitzel.)
With respect to the Unjust War, I believe it changed the dynamics of this place for good. And not necessarily for the better.

Here are some actual stats, inspired by (but obviously not nearly as in-depth or well-done as) @Piejonk's reports from Herogasm. The changes for the first two columns are taken from as close to the start of the war (5/24) as I could get.
Alliance Name Active Nations Nation Strength Damage Dealt Damage Received Offensive Wars Defensive Wars Nukes Per Active Nation Libertarian Socialist Federation 3 (+1) 102,961 (+52,885) 45,095.92 33,115.96 11 2 7 Union Of Communist Republics 17 (+5) 969,326 (+15,941) 282,451.55 255,886.44 33 18 18.8235 Socialist Workers Front 2 (-1) 169,515 (-99,478) 54,819.49 66,393.27 1 8 25 The Wolves 10 (-1) 388,997 (-286,657) 355,395.67 382,366.96 28 45 7.2 Basically, the war is fairly even, with a slight edge towards RED ALERT. RED ALERT is definitely leading in all of the war stats, but they also have twice as many active nations and started with nearly twice as much NS, so they are probably slight statistical favorites anyway.
The canine jaw, while capable of tearing away large amounts of flesh, is not really designed for mastication.
The above is a fine example.
Thanks for this.

Welcome back to the cranky old former leaders club, Sponge. Don't worry. We didn't let anyone else sit in your chair while you were away.
Congrats, QL!
Said club is not nearly as exclusive as it once was.
I mean....how many folks are left who HAVEN'T led an alliance or two?
-
So....
Has anyone compiled stats on how this is going? All I know is that my environment is suffering because of the faint green glow on the horizon.
Who's winning?

In accordance with Nordreich's secret treaty with the Libertarian Socialist Federation, I wish everyone well in their ongoing endeavors.
We shall be watching with interest.

I guess it all depends.
I was once warned for gravedigging a BR thread. I pointed out that I'd authored the thread and was providing an update to the news story in the OP. (The protagonist in the tale had died.) Warn removed.
Consult your local Mod for further information, I guess.

True. The Unjust War only lasted 14 days, this past war seemed to go on forever by direct comparison.
UjW's ending had nothing to do with warchests and everything to do with GOONS, Bilrow, etc.
Pity, too. That was going to be a fun one.

I believe this to be so. The most obvious evidence: the complete death of politics.
Ongoing tech deals notwithstanding, most alliances are now little more than pretty facades.
