1. And this is the sound of backpedaling.

It isn't backpedaling to disagree with words you put in his mouth, and it isn't shocking that you are trying to make PM's statements somehow attributable to Polaris.  The CoJ disbanded, the fact that its members still dislike you all is no more surprising or silly than the fact that you still have Schattenmann as the centerpiece of your sig.  You didn't take advantage of your years of opportunity to attack the CoJ, and that has nothing to do with the fine people over at Polaris.

How about we focus on the fact that the CoJ had a pretty good run, and leave it more or less at that.

  2. Thank you Schattenmann, and thanks to the rest of the CoJ (past and present) for putting up with me being a pain in the neck at times.

Really I should thank the leaders and members of the other AA's I've dealt with for their role in my successes, and to the OWF-squad of people who really don't like either Schatt personally or the CoJ generally, who apparently care A LOT about a tiny little alliance, and have always kept me humble by reminding me how utterly irrelevant we are and that they have no idea who I am.

  3. Communication was atrocious in the EQ coalition, between the Skype calls, far too many chans for different purposes, etc.

This is entirely true.  Who made the decision to break it all out into so many channels of communication?  Was it Polaris?  All the "bandwagoners who we now claim are just trying to railroad us"?  Good point.

  4. I am incredibly happy that Polaris has garnered such attention in their foreign affairs.  This is such a great move that the thread has devolved into a discussion about the butthurt of an alliance over (I'm not quite sure but I think) BiPolar War, which was so long ago that only what 13 of 121 current NSO members were members of NSO for?

I cannot tell you how proud I am to be allied with Polaris as a result.

    o/ XX

  5. You know, in any scenario involving a global war, there is generally much debate. The prime movers of such an event are generally a handful of AA's that build a case to entice others who aren't committed or who don't care into joining the cause.

Knowing this, it would be reasonable to assume that there are some people gunning for NpO/XX and they are feeling others out to the idea, but as the war hasn't happened yet and doesn't appear imminent, those discussions are most likely not concluded.

So why post am I posting this? Its because you are writing your own demise. By shouting on the OWF about how unjust the upcoming beat down is, you just cement that beat down as a reality and your opponents just need to line up the dominoes. Change the story and maybe change the outcome?

Good point.  Because of this post, there will be a complete shift in the fortunes of the Cult.  Legions of new people will all of the sudden want to roll Schatt for the very first time!  If only he had said something different there would be masses of alliances at the doorsteps of the temple virtually begging to be aligned with us.  I shake my fist at thee Schattenmann! We are ruined!  You have posted so many more times in this thread than all the Polar-haters that you have turned the audience off to our spin! How could you!  They never would have been engineering a way to roll Polaris and us for the last several months if you hadn't said this today!

    please...

  6. stuff

GATO's membership should apply pure democracy to whether you post things...

Nonsense aside, we are very happy to move foreward with our friends in TPF, even if that means we end up forgiving any excessively punitive measures when MN loses it for good and goes rogue on Schatt, as Schatt's continued existence seems to warrant, according to MN.

  7. What about those that openly talk about them in public?

Just say what you have to say magicninja, there's no reason to mollycoddle us.  Your innuendo doesn't make you more clever than whatever it refers to.  Nor does that referent have any relation to our foreign policy.  If you think that we sign treaties because we have an unwaivering faith that no member (gov or not) of our allied alliances is going to say mean things about us, then you are as much an idiot as you take us to be.  We do things that make people say mean things about us.  We sign treaties because we believe that our allies share common goals with us, not because we lie awake at night hoping they'll ask us to the prom.

Then again, maybe I'm a fool and you have some super secret intel that will undermine our foreign policy and all of the sudden make us a vulnerable target... oh, wait... the sky is blue either way isn't it...

  8. As a matter of principle, Justitia's Cult signs only optional treaties.  This philosophy pre-dates the advent of the non-chaining MD, but for simplicity's sake the aim is similar.  Barbula and anyone else who can read, continue on; everyone else, you stopped reading 10 words ago anyway.

The reasoning behind this is:  Justitia's Cult first and foremost is an entity unto its own, serving only the will of Justitia as interpreted by Her Presbyter; what terrestrial power can then bind us to service?  M-treaties are compulsory; their very nature removes control of an alliance's actions from its leadership and membership, they cede sovereignty into the hands of the other.  Justitia's Cult acts upon its principles; we may or may not enter any war whether we have a treaty or not, based upon the underlying cause of the war, its merits, the principles involved, and our ability to further Justitia's will by doing so.  Those alliances with which we sign a treaty are those whose ideals and principles closely match our own, such that when we sign a treaty, no government need question our loyalty to them, nor us theirs, and will know that Justitia's Cult will defend them where defense is warranted.  But we cannot and will not sign away that ability to discern.  "Optional" has a mewling connotation to the mewling politicians of the world, but for us does not mean "if we think we'll win" it means "because you are in the right, or because you are not."

Schatt, quit trying to Mentor the Mewling Masses... they trust each other so little that they need "M" in front of their treaties, and are so unworthy of trust that their "M" means nothing. Our Options Originate in Our Ornery tendancy to Opine On the Obvious state Of the wOrld...

Ok I Over did it there... I Odmit it.

  9. Simple. Peace was declared between CoJ (as part of Equilibrium) and GATO yesterday, roughly. And yet, today, you're reaching back and posting war espionage posts here like it was common currency. Whatever your motivations to continue this little tirade against GATO is, it is neither the time, nor the place, and while it may be CoJ policy to spy during wartime, this is not a time of war.

And I have no doubts that whoever was planted inside GATO is still there; it's only a matter of time before they are discovered, or you reveal their identity in an effort to cause further anarchy. And if/when that happens, I have my doubts that many on Planet Bob would rush to your defence.

The only reason magicninja is defending his position here is because he is actually our spy.  He wants to make sure he doesn't blow his cover.  But you are right, eventually someone will blow his cover and I agree that few will rush to our defence when they realize what a tool we have used as a spy.

  10. I have no intention of going away. I will continue act in a manner fitting of a leader of a respected alliance. While FAIL may have initially been a splinter AA, my resignation from MK mid-war has made it a sovereign alliance. I recall blanket declarations against all alliances of the Equilibrium Coalition. As far as I know a state of war still technically exists between myself and those alliance, as according to the peace agreement "splinter alliances," which FAIL fits the criteria for, will not receive peace and will continue to be targeted as rogues.

As an independent nation not covered by the agreement I must therefore pursue my own peace. Due to limited time on my own part, and the numerous parties of the Equilibrium Coalition, I found myself unable to contact individuals through IRC. I instead had to resort to a public announcement, but I assure you it was not the preferred method.

Anyway, to those who have inconvenience your own selves to assist me and formally recognized a state of peace I thank you. You have conducted yourselves with a great amount of class. You have my gratitude.

If you want peace, then you are no longer at war with the CoJ.  If you don't, then you are a rogue as a splinter from the war and will be treated as such.  I'm sure that whatever you decide will result in an incredible amount of unnecessarily blue text.

  11. What? We have no desire to pursue further sanctions against Equilibrium members or alliances, and the Mushroom Kingdom has never endorsed the use of sanctions as weapons. This should be readily apparent, given that it's more or less why this announcement was crafted.

As for "running to your coalition," we simply clarified the sanctioning situation as being limited to the MK-GOD conflict, and made apparent that sanctions placed against GOD would not reflect MK policy towards the rest of Equilibrium. We did not ask what you wanted, in short, but sought to ascertain that any actions we decided to undertake would not be misunderstood or misinterpreted.

You do get that there was no MK-GOD conflict, right? GOD was simply the fastest senator to impose sanctions Schatt requested, and I asked the others to call off their senators before the situation escalated due to the negotiations.  Schatt already posted the text of his all-color request in this thread.

  12. Is that all that is required to join this coalition? I ask because I have seen no formal document that determines the boundaries which this coalition works within and judging by it's ramshackled appearance I can only assume that anyone may join, all they need to do is state their intent to join publicly.

Soo... you want the treaty path that lets us join in? AI declared->Confederatio Aesir declared->CoJ declared.  Not that we need a treaty to join any cause, but they happen to exist here.  I defy you to point to anything in the treaty language between us and CA, or CA and AI that doesn't support this entry.

Of course, you could just be throwing feces against the wall to see what sticks, but I would never accuse you of such a thing... Especially since you have so graciously joined the coalition.

  13. I never said I would disband CoJ. I am simply saying that most of the alliance is composed of cowards who will flee at the first sign of real trouble. Sooner or later it will be Schattenman on his own.

Sorry RV, Schattenmann is never going to be left alone: at least this one coward will be by his side.

  14. But Don, we all know that CoJ only matters sometimes.

Hush, it's not like we were mentioned in the 6th post of the GOONS DoW.  We aren't that important, and are clearly irrelevant.  Also, lol @ "Please DoW GOONS"... I'm pretty sure the original coalition DoW said an attack on one is an attack on all, sooo... didn't you guys already declare on one?

    NEW deserves nothing.

BFF: you're all blithering idiots to have (1) signed that treaty in the first place and (2) retained it even after NEW threatened to mass rogue people. That was a prime opportunity to end the relationship and instead you kept on. You've brought the whole thing on yourselves. I'm sure you realized once the aid went out that there wasn't a good way out of this.

But damn if I'm not tickled hard watching the President of the Coward Coalition Flagship "IRON" give grief to other people about what the hell honor is. NG wants to shoot their mouths off, well God bless 'em. But you transparent flakes haven't changed a bit, and that just warms my very deepest humors.

Somebody seems to have had a bad day at work...

I agree, though, that alliances should not in general sign treaties that include the word "mandatory" since the terms rarely are. I also agree that alliances in general should probably cancel treaties when they become aware that the relationship is no longer something they desire. As far as whether either of these general principles apply here, I'll defer to others, but I certainly don't think any of the comments in this topic rise to the level of being tickled hard... that just seems hyperbolic.

nothing It is an example that most posts are sided, they hate this person/alliance or have a treaty with this/that so that is the color they choose to see.

Are you, sir, asserting that most people are incapable of identifiying an objective right and wrong and incapable of separating personal bias from any such identification?
