Topic is IC, and therefore belongs in Fantasy.
-
Topic closed on OP's request.
-
Truthfully, this topic belongs in Open National.
-
Closed upon OP's request.
-
All further requests for map changes should go in the new map thread. This one is closed as two threads with the same purpose is pointless.
-
Topic pinned.
-
I did say if this went active, the topic would be unpinned.
I am a man of my word.

Please, from now on, keep it IC. This is the only warning this thread will receive. After this, actual warns will be handed out, unless it is simply a post to direct someone to the appropriate OOC thread.

He made sure I knew before he posted that.

Howdy do- I'm a new player, just started a week ago. However, I'm an experienced roleplayer, and I am wiggling in my shoes waiting to roleplay with nations.
But I have some concerns...
I'd like to start roleplaying immediately, but I dont know if I'm allowed to represent myself as a sovereign nation. I know on the global map (created by players) there are country boundaries, and you cant just waltz in and try and get some claim. For example, I am in Saudi Arabia, and the country of Novak has the biggest claim of the area. Am I a protectorate (and what does this entail?), a cultural group, a state, or what? Of course I'd like to roleplay as a sovereign nation, but as always in RP, "Role with the Punches."
In trying to be a controversial nation (Based in Middle East, modeled after Cuba), it'd be nice to know my boundaries. Playing an antagonist is entirely different than being one, and in my attempt to not offend anyone, I'd appreciate learning how to roleplay within the bounds here at CNRP.
My question summed up: Is my nation IG a sovereign nation, a protectorate, cultural group, or a state?
For purposes of CNRP, your IG nation does not even, necessarily, exist. While character RP's don't require much, to RP as a larger recognized, sovereign entity, you have to first either claim white land, or talk to the person who owns the land you want, and work it out with them. many people are willing to give up portions of their land to a new player, to encourage new nations to form.
Others will require you to go through less independed phase, such as a protectorate or simply semi-autonomous zone.
Some won't give an inch.
But you won't know until you actually PM them. You don't get to RP anything at ALL in someone else's territory without their permission first. In this case, the person you need to talk to is Voodo Nova.
As for how your IG nation relates to here...it can be RP'd as any of the above, once you have the go-ahead. It's your choice, within the restrictions set up by whoever gave you the permission.

Combined:
Tech help and OOC could really easily be combined. In all honesty, Character Database should probably just be linked out of the map thread. GMs court should be made into a rules and guidelines thread, because I think that GMs should run the one thing GMs are here to do. Names and Nations Would be useful merged into the map thread so we can actually go "I want this protectorate, who owns it" and have the answer in the same thread, rather than a different one.
Moved: New Player Guide should go in Fantasy RP, because that is the only place it is truly pertinent.
That's my opinion, for what it's worth.
What do other players think of this idea?

I'm not a mod or GM, but I can confirm that the ruling was only weapons based in space. You know, stuff like Rods from God.
This is correct. Space-based weapons and weapons platforms are not permitted, just like lasers.
However, Satellite-killing has been around for some time, and has never been banned.

This needs to be pinned in the Fantasy RP area as the main OOC and map thread
Suggestion noted, with the same warning I gave for ERP--if it falls into inactivity...it gets unpinned.
-
Thread unpinned, as this seems to be dead.
-
I received a suggestion to pin this topic.
-
Someone suggested I pin this topic. Truthfully I believe this is an excellent suggestion.

Topic opened again.

Op has requested thread closure.

The question does seem a mite vague. What does the OP want me to do?

When you make up your mind what you wish done with this thread, let me know.

Wait, I clicked a link and didn't read the timestamps, what do I do now?
Apologize and move on.
You didn't mean any harm, I'm sure.

A reminder to some of you. Bumping a topic without including some kind of IC content is bad, m'kay?
No, I will not name any names here, but I've seen several such posts over the last few days.
This needs to stop. That's what PM's, or IRC, or any other method of communication you can use is for.
