  1. So you claim, but whether or not you want to pretend you have that right still won't change the fact that banning someone from RP and removing them from the map is a community decision

    No.

The GM position is there for several reasons: To mediate disputes, to make small (moderation approved) Tweaking of the rules, to roll the Nukes and large weapons. It is also there to gently guide the tone and context of CNRP with small touches...or to reinforce the consequences of the actions of a large group of players. The GMs, (As long as they have moderation approval in their actions) are endorsed by both HK47, myself, and the Moderation Team to make the decisions we've enabled them to. If you fee they are unfair in their ruling, that is when you come to me. Indeed, a few of you have in the past, and most of the time the problems were worked out with a minimum of pain or wasted time, were they not? The GM is the way for the community to have a non-staff decision-maker, sort of their rep to the Staff. Through the GM, as well as through the forums, ideas and concepts can be brought to our attention rapidly, and we get quicker and easier rulings on issues as a result. The recent end to Mergers was NOT a Moderation suggested one, but a GM suggested one backed by a majority ruling of Moderation staff, based on a massive amount of complaints filed through both Mercy and the Mods here.

Use your GM's to benefit the community; do not continuously decry their unfairness, especially when it is unwarranted.

Fake Edit: And If you feel I am unfair, there are appropriate channels for such feelings, through HK47 (The actual Mod-in-charge here) and Senior Staff members of the Moderation Team. Don't vent those feelings here in public (And I expect fair warning before one of you try to flood Snape's inbox with complaints!)

TL;DR: Yes, I'm upholding the map ban ruling, as well as the powers the GM's have used (SO FAR).

  2. By no means has the Moderation staff withdrawn, either wholly or incompletely, from the CRNP forum. What we have done is appoint from among the more well-reasoned Roleplayers people we can trust to be neutral, and represent the interests of the community while giving players a person to go to before they go appeal for a descision from Moderation, which is final and usually irreversible. Do not take this as a "We'll do whatever we like and find a suitable yes-man to fill the job". Those GM's were appointed precisely BECAUSE they could make the tough decisions, with fairness, and without being biased to any particular side. They have done well, and will continue to do well.

There will be no elections for GM and no speculation on the status of Moderation. This is not a reflection of any opinion of mine on Botha or those put forward; it is merely the means in which they were brought to my attention. The GMs, at their discretion, will nominate a third GM should they feel needful, and then come to myself or HK for confirmation. Botha is a fine suggestion and I would have no problem with him being added to the GM group, provided it was through the channels already layed down and not through what seems to amount to a quiet revolt.

    Thank you, that is all.

  3. ooc: Requesting all interested parties hold up critical pieces of combat and missile launching til tomorrow. The GM's are getting a bit burnt out for good reason and need a break. I'm not a GM (in cnrp) of course, but I'm only asking the community respect their exhaustion. Conversations in IRC have indicated this would be very useful. so maybe *pause* for now?

Some rulings on these attacks are required and will be pending tomorrow from my understanding.

    DONE AND DONE.

This is a freeze, ladies and gents, before the nukes started flying *exactly when that is will be determined by GMs* GM Mercy or Sargun can unfreeze this, but at the moment, this thing stops right now. Give yourself some breathing and thinking time, read a book, but this is off until GM unlocks it or this ruling is overruled.

  4. OOC: I'd like to see your announcement/your claim in the map thread first, jeff, if you please. Attacking someone out of nowhere and then claiming a nation afterward is bad form, even if it isn't explicitly against the rules (which is being considered right now). I'm always happy to see new roleplayers, but if we could avoid little awkward moments like this, it'd be better. GM's, you have my permission to go ahead and tackle any problems that emerge out of this thread.

  5. Understood. I've never had an intent of abusing any particular system. I've been using pretty much whatever standard the community threw at me at the time and adapting my factbook based on those suggestions. If this were formalized I'd simply adapt our numbers to reflect the formalized standards.

If we go off the strongest stats.. does that mean you take the highest tech, highest # of troops, basically.. piecemeal among the nations or you just use the one with the highest nation strength and you use all of its base stats? Math is a very unbiased observer. I'll use any equations given or set parameters.

Piecemeal. Each merged nation does not suddenly jump up to the strength of its strongest member; the population/military power of the strongest nation wold be the power of the entire organization.

  6. Okay, next question about this. This countries may stay merged territories and people may play as parts of those nations.. so the DE might still feasibly work, it's just that economies, military, etc do not stack. Do you take the best of each nation's stats then or how does that work? Would the strongest territory be the one that would be used or would it default to the leading national player?

In my last discussion with HK47, we decided on "Strongest Nation's Stats". However, this is under review, so if it changes in the next week, don't be surprised. We really want to give the community an opportunity to earn this back; we are not so keen on giving it the rope to hang itself with.

  7. I would like to note, however, that it is still possible to give up your territory/country entirely, and rp a character in the nation taking over. However, all of the benefits that were apart of previous mergers are now null and void; your military is not added to theirs, your population is not added to theirs, and your character has no more power in that country than the host player says. This is a road-back of sorts for the community; we're going to leave this as an option to those few dedicated who haven't abused the system and see what they do with it. If we still get abuse on the issue, then we'll renege that as well. The good behavior of the community determines what privileges and permissions the community gets.

  8. Even with all the hard work put into the Dragon Empire you're wanting us to disassemble it? *Looks faintly pouty*

We have a lot of rp behind our empire, you can find it in my fact book. I will do so if this decision is final...

I have 5 active role-players in my empire..

Too much abuse and too many problems emerged. Like I said, we may get a second shot at this, but for now, it's out the door.

  9. A man with coal-colored hair and faint blue eyes walked into the conservatory. He wore a half-duster to cover his faded black shirt, a pair of well-worn jeans and a beat-up traveler's hat. Most would notice the faintly Lakota tilt to his face, if they were of a mind to notice, as well as the crow-feathers that were tied to his hair and his wrists. Carrying a beat-up violin case, he walked up to the stage and pulled out his violin. It was a beautiful piece that had seen better days; but the strings were new and it had been kept clean and ready. Playing with the bow abit, he rattled out a few quick tunes for warm-up, and then looked at the musicians already there.

"Name's Elijah Two-Crows. Mind if I play along?"

  10. ooc: I'll remind you if we were talking real world scenario, war is personal. But lets get one thing straight. Do not talk me like that again.

Everyone needs to calm down, and you especially. This is your/the threads verbal warn, the next warn will be a real one.

  11. We were not aware that terrorists had made it so far to Rebel Army. Indeed, that would also make you a harborer of enemies to the world. We suppose then that this treaty was inevitable; after all, in order to protect terrorists and criminals, one must work with others who do the same

OOC: that's all I'm gonna post in this thread. Also, Sargun? just remember that if it werent for lavo, you'd die in a one on one. There wasn't a need to sink so low. Yet another reason why i dont think you deserve to be GM

OOC: Not your call. The next person to make a nice public whine-off about Sargun/Mercy being GM will be receiving a warn. I chose them, give them the respect they deserve, or if you have a legitamate complaint, send up to me about it. By PM, not public whining..

  12. This thread has not been forgotten. It has been and is continuing to be read and considered. Please don't fear that change is not coming; but I've been wanting to insure that the change was community endorsed; community approved. I think the overwhelming support that has been seen for the Two Forums issue has been sucessfully approved...The possibility of an OOC sub-forum looks like a distinct possiblity as well.

We are confering on this issue. If anyone has the eloquence to sum up the best arguments and ideas of both this thread and the best resolutions made in the OOC thread, I want to hear it.

    Stormcrow out.

  13. OOC: The reasons for the temporary closing of this thread have run their course, RP may continue as scheduled. An IC note, however: The status of things may have changed. Due to the rampant changes since this rp occured, the scenario may play out quite differently then first imagined: large bodies of people have been moved from their original positions, the names of countries are different...many things have changed. I apologize for the neccesity of the first close and hope the rest of the RP goes well.

As I lock, so do I unlock. So Mote It Be.

  14. Totally off base. She claims a; That her 440,000 civilians doing construction work in tion can take up arms and fight, but however, when someone wants to hunt them down, due the the lack of the DKT state and supposed tion citizenship (never RP'd taking it, just kept on claim it ooc). Since they are japanses in a nordic state, she claims ethic cleansing, which is totally off base and a typical sumeragi reaction, 'I am loosing so I cheat and make up rules!"

That is your interpretation of events, not what she is actually claiming at all.

I've locked the thread pending the final descision by the moderation team.
