  1. Warrior King was a wash, sorry folks. I've sent an invitation to another nation that has Pig and Iron available. Anyone else who'd like to try and make this thing happen is welcome to try and find Pig and Iron in one country that will join our trade circle.
  2. Warrior King of Royal Mount has accepted (Pig + Iron) I believe that completes the trade circle, all we need now is to decide on a color and actually get the trade deals going.
  3. For those I already sent a trade invite to, might as well go ahead and accept. I've got 2 empty trade slots that need filling.
  4. Actually, so far most of us are orange. Would you object to going orange? I need to remain either orange or black due to my particular alliance bylaws.
  5. I just pinged a likely player with Iron and Pigs. Awaiting his response now.
  6. All we need now is someone with Iron and Pigs.
  7. Name: The Libra Nation ID: Yoknapatawpha Resource 1: Sugar Resource 2: Fish Type of Benefits: Fast Food, Construction, Beer Team Color: Orange (Negotiable)
  8. I pinged a couple of players with the missing resources in-game to see if they'd be interested in this circle.
  9. Bumping for any additional interest in this trade circle.
  10. EDIT: Offer officially expired at this time. Every Foreign Aid slot is currently full. Should a new slot open, we will first alert those who already petitioned for a tech deal, and if there are still slots available, I will post another advert in the future. Thank you all for your rapid response, and may God Bless.
  11. I'm Orange, with Sugar and Fish as my resources. I'd be up for it once we get all our ducks in a row.
  12. Looks like I was just a tad too late. I've got Fish and Sugar, and am looking for the Fast Food, Construction, Beer extras. My trade slots are currently full, but 4 of them are negotiable. I just need to know ahead of time so I can free up a slot. The perm trades I have set up are: * Pigs and Spices: LoonyLand (Strngs012) I still need: * Lumber * Iron * Marble * Aluminum * Water * Wheat * Lumber * Aluminum * Cattle
  13. Well, I went ahead and rerolled and things went really well. I now have Fish and Sugar. Using the nation building guide, I ended up getting in a much better position with my first "turn" than I had been after 5 days of stumbling around the first time. I really appreciate all the helpful advice, insight, and answers. This forum is remarkably civil compared to most.
  14. Thanks man. I went and filed an application there. I'm doing a lot better this time around, and haven't even joined them yet. Just goes to show sometimes it helps to RTFM... heh. You'd think I'd know that by now.
  15. Okay, I re-created, and everything turned out really well. My new nation is called "Yoknapatawpha". It's pronounced YOK-NA-PA-TAW-FAH. For those familiar with the works of William Faulkner, I'm a recent fan of his. The name, more than anything, was my primary motivator in re-creating, because I think I'm going to really like this game. I wanted my nation name to really have a backstory I could identify with. Anyway, I re-created. My new resources are Fish and Sugar, which, as I understand it, are pretty good resources. My new team is Orange, my alliance of choice will be Citadel Trading Company (though I haven't actually figured out how to join yet). I have yet to take a single "turn," but am looking at the Nation Building Guide doing the initial setup. If there are suggestions, or if any CTC care to advise me on how to join, I'm all ears. As always, thank you everyone for the great advice so far, and the civility in the forums on this fun sim.
  16. Earlier I was referred to CTC, and told it was one of the most powerful, richest, largest, etc... But then when I went to go actually look up the stats in the game, I see this: Alliance Name Total Nations Active Nations Percent Active Strength Avg. Strength Score Citadel Trading Company 35 16 46% 350,510 10,015 1.57 So... umm... what's the deal? 35 members, less than half of which are active. Am I missing something? Is it because the other Citadel Alliances have the proverbial backs of those who are members of the CTC? Are the other Citadel Alliances where the trading circles and million dollar tech deals come from? Is the relatively low membership count due to people eventually going on to join a Citadel Alliance? I'm asking out of genuine interest, rather than any implication of disrespect. Once I delete my nation and remake, I'll be looking at joining an alliance that doesn't require me to war a lot and is willing to help a n00b learn the ropes.
  17. Excellent advice all around and most certainly answers I didn't expect. I was certain the millions of dollars were scam offers. It's nice to know that's not the case. I'll be able to better research the best fit with these answers. CTC sounds intriguing as well. Of course, I still have to re-create, as I gimped my nation already. That's what I get for not reading the guide before I made a nation.
  18. Thanks for the replies, all. Yeah, I'd thought the map had influence. Good to know it's random. Here's to hoping that, upon the re-creation of my country, that I score Fish and Gems or something.
  19. I posted this here because I don't want to get the thread inundated with "Join the ______ Alliance!" replies. I'd much rather have instead some guidance on how to best choose an alliance. I've already got upwards of 30 messages, each one asking me to join an alliance. I fully expect more to roll in every hour until I join an alliance. The typical offers include something like: * $3mil cash * Trade Circles * Guides * Military protection. * 30mil "techsplosion" * Make $10's of Millions per Month * $5-6mil in aid * Millions per week in Tech Trading * A democratic government where everyone gets a say Now I was raised to believe you don't get something for nothing. So I'm naturally leery of anyone offering me millions of dollars just to join their alliance, unless a million is like pocket change and the initial $30k we start with is like a penny. I have no idea how tech trading works, but it sounds like making millions a week at it is probably also some sort of scam. However, I also am new enough at this game I have no idea how legit any of these claims are. Just off my own ignorance and common sense, it seems like the best offers are the ones that include the "Democracy", Trade Circles, Guides, and Military Protection. But admittedly, the idea of getting millions of dollars is appealing. I can only assume at this point it's a scam. So... all that said... I really know very little about the sort of advantages and disadvantages that there are to the teams, the alliances, etc. And I really have no idea what it is that I should expect from an alliance before I even consider joining one. Would anyone care to advise me on this?
  20. Howdy there. I'm a serious n00b at this game, already ruined my first country, and waiting to be able to delete my nation and start over after having read the Nation Building Guide. Unfortunately, what I can't seem to find an answer to is what determines the resources that a country has initial access to. Is it totally Random? Is it based off the CIA World Fact Book, or something else? For instance if I wanted Fish, would I need to choose a nation known for having a great fishing industry (like Iceland) or just have an island to have the Fish resource, or would I need to choose some place right on the coast, or could I get it even if I chose a spot in the middle of the Sahara Desert?
